Overview
Established in 1983, Western Culinary Institute utilizes active teaching methods with interactive study to help produce qualified professionals in the fields of baking, cooking, and culinary arts. Graduates can receive Diplomas or Associate Degrees upon successful program completion. Campus is located in a new modern facility in Portland, Oregon.
Student Appeal
Instructors are experienced professional chefs and culinary artisans with knowledge of industry trends and practices that can help students learn the skills necessary for a culinary career. Faculty can also provide career advice to help decide on the right career specialization. Students can apply classroom theory to practical lab scenarios to exercise learned competencies and develop individual styles. All students have access to kitchens, classrooms, AV equipment, and library resources. A full-service public restaurant as well as an espresso café are located on campus and are staffed by WCI students. Career placement assistance is provided to all students and graduates along with externship opportunities for continued applied experience during enrollment.
Financial
Financial aid is available for those who qualify in the form of federal grants, loans, and work study. Tuition planning and payment assistance resources are available through the Financial Aid Office. Western Culinary Institute is accredited by the American Culinary Federation Foundation Accrediting Commission (ACFFAC).
