This program gives teachers access to research-based strategies that will enable them to become teacher leaders. Graduates of this program will demonstrate commitment to their students, their colleagues, and their school communities. Additionally, the program uses the five Core Principles of Teaching as described by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS). - Reading & Literacy, Grades K–6Reading & Literacy, Grades K–6
This program sets out to accomplish two main goals. First, it works to develop instructional leaders. Second, it focuses on the content knowledge elementary teachers need in order to be effective teachers of reading and literacy. The program also incorporates the International Reading Association (IRA) Standards for Reading Professionals. This degree has 10 courses which must be completed, six of which focus on content that all teachers need to know regardless of grade level. - Elementary Mathematics, Grades K–5Elementary Mathematics, Grades K–5
This program aims to develop instructional leaders and the content knowledge elementary teachers need to know in order to be effective math teachers. The degree incorporates the Principles and Standards for School Mathematics as outlined by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). This program also has 10 courses which must be completed. - Middle-Level Mathematics, Grades 6–8Middle-Level Mathematics, Grades 6–8
This program is designed for middle school teachers who want to improve their instructional methods for mathematics. The degree incorporates the Principles and Standards for School Mathematics as outlined by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). Like the other programs, this one has 10 courses which must be completed, six of which teach content that all teachers need to know, regardless of grade level or background.
*NOTE: You must possess a bachelor's degree and have a current teaching certificate in order to enroll in any online master's degree programs. Students currently possessing a master's degree may not enroll for an additional graduate degree.
