Read the Denver Post... Westwood is under investigation and currently on probation for their CRAP degrees. They are national accredited, what does that mean? Absolutely NOTHING to employers, and I hope you dont plan on transferring your credits, becuse they wont.
Yes, Westwood is a for-profit school so they are pricey, but the school's instructors and curriculum is outstanding. The methods used teach and instruct totally prepare you for real world conditions in corporate America. I received my AAS in Information Technology in 2010 and I worked my butt off for 1-1/2 years to get it. It was the hardest and most challenging thing I've accomplished in my life. I only have to go for a year to obtain my BA in Network Management.
Here's a big HINT on how to keep the loans down. Test out of as many classes as you can and if you're enrolling in any Information Technology type degrees, get your certifications like CCNA, MCSE, A+, Network+, and Security+. I was able to get credit for 8 classes because I had most of these IT certs.
I also tested out of 4 classes. This saved me a ton of money over the long run. Some professors were more dedicated then others but that's a problem at all schools and you can transfer to your hearts content and not be able to escape that fact. For the most part, the professors knew their stuff and really care for the students.
I have to disagree with everyone who has posted about Westwood so far. I am in my 4th term of my first year and I couldn't be happier with the education, support, and attention I have received at Westwood College Online. Granted, the terms are 9 weeks and move at an accelerated pace which took me a little while to get used to.But my interaction with classmates and instructors has been outstanding. I am always able to make contact with an instructor when I need to.
I have a financial adviser, a student adviser, and an InsideTrack coach who are all completely wonderful and committed to helping me get the best education that I can. The online learning tools are excellent, including real time tutoring, access to the Westwood libraries, and different web site tutorials that are available to students depending on the major. I am working on a BS in Web Design and Multimedia and all my supplies, such as the Adobe Creative Suite which is a $1500 suite of design programs, all were made available to me through my student account.
Sure, I'm going to have a large student loan to pay back but there's no such thing as a free lunch. I would recommend Westwood College Online to anybody - and I have. My experience has been very positive.
If you think they are not accredited then you are wrong. I don't even attend the school but I am looking into it. If you look up the US department of education they give you a list of orginazation you accredit colleges. They all have a website and you can look up to see if the school you want to attend is accredited. Westwood is accredited by two organizations. Accrediting Commission of Career Schools
and Colleges (ACCSC) or the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). Westwood received Higher Learning Commission (HLC) candidacy status in October 2007. HLC is part of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
They do exist and are on the orginazations list.
yes, i agree with both reviews already posted on all terms, they are very pricey, i didnt even get to start my 2nd semester and now hit with a huge bill from them...support system is very excellent, only the 1st semester, than no one knows you....they talk a good game, but do not back up it up in the end...
