As a currently enrolled student, since May 2012, I can attest to the legitimacy and validity of the coursework and ancillary help via course and student mentors.
I am currently enrolled in the IT Management program, which is part of the Business College and have enjoyed every aspect of this program and school since starting.
Yes, you have to be a self-starter, but for people in my position of having some college and wanting to finish up at an accelerated pace, this is the perfect format.
Not only are the costs extremely affordable (and I checked out a half-dozen or so alternative programs before deciding on WGU), but being able to learn at your own pace and apply already-learned experience to a class is well worth it.
For me this was a no-brainer, as I would only be able to take at most 3 classes in a traditional brick-and-mortar setting during a 3 to 4 month period. I have now completed 14 classes our of 23 (I transferred in 10 classes from previous college attendance) in less than a year. I should be able to finish within the next 9 months.
I would encourage anyone to give WGU a serious look. If you want a cost-effective education that allows you to capitalize on previous college and life/work experiences, then WGU may be just for you.

I did my undergrad at WGU and it has greatly helped my career. In addition to salary and title improvements within my IT community, my confidence and the respect from others in my office is obvious. My MBA education has already opened opportunities for future advancement that requires an MBA.

I'm currently finishing up my first term at WGU and I love it. I'm an extreme introvert so this is the school for me. I honestly hate to be bothered by professors or teachers and I have always learned by myself.
My mentor is so helpful and she's so sweet. My admissions process was a bit rocky but it hit it off great. I have all the help that I could imagine.
This school is NOT a scam. I swear that I'm an attendee at this moment. I am going for my bachelors in Accounting. I went to two other "in person" schools and they weren't for me. I'm not a mom, or an older adult, I'm 21 and just couldn't find my niche in a regular university. My father helped me find this school and I'm so glad that he did.
I love working at my advanced pace and I have learned so much. You HAVE to put in the effort to retain knowledge. You won't be spoon-fed at this school and that's what I absolutely love.
Like I said before, I love my mentor but the calls do get a bit annoying. I wish we only had to talk once a month because I'm just a really smart and really competent learner. I hope to earn my degree soon. I cannot wait to get into the workforce. It does help that my dad is a CFO if I have any questions about any class material.

I have been with WGU for almost a year now, this school fits well into my life. I do miss the social interaction of a brick and mortor school but with young kids and a job WGU is a better fit for my life. You do have to keep your motivated with help from a mentor and course mentors.
Any time I have reached out for help my mentors have provided whatever help I have needed. My mentor is a friend that sometimes pushes me but I believe she always has my best interest at heart. If you need the social interaction, or regular graded assignments to keep you on track this is not the school for you.
You must be self motivated since your passing of most courses depends on one test at the end of a class, and the courses with assignments can be a bit frustrating with a third party grading system. While WGU does have some faults overall I feel like I am getting the same level of education I was getting at a regular University at a fraction of the cost.

The program structure and course content is very good and it covers all aspects of the degree program. The mentors help and encouragement is very helpful! With little discipline and time management, everyone can earn the degree.
