I love WGU! I completed my RN to BSN degree in 10 months and although I didn't plan to continuing on for a Master's degree, 5 months later I am now enrolled in their MSN program.
It is self-paced, and basically you get out of it what you put into it. I feel that I have definitely increased my knowledge base and have enhanced my professional development.
Several of my friends have also completed their BSN, or are currently enrolled. Great school, great mentors, and great price!

I previously graduated from a large well known brick and mortar state University a couple of decades ago- going the traditional route which some consider "real" college.
I went back to school at WGU to save both a ton of money and to take advantage of working on my second degree at my own pace without traveling to a crowded classroom environment.
For anyone who thinks that this online university is "easy", you are so wrong. I found the online curriculum and testing to be as difficult if not more difficult than my state university. Most importantly, you are forced to push yourself as there is no one standing over you holding your hand.
If you do not work well alone and are not self disciplined, online studies are probably not for you. WGU is a good online school and you will get a quality degree.

I would give WGU 3.5 stars out of 5. I recommend WGU mostly because of price. Many private colleges are not worth the price and other colleges will put professors part time or have graduate students teach you. WGU is a financially sound decision if you accelerate during the program. It can be a double edge sword financially if you fall behind, and take longer to finish your degree.
WGU's Business and IT program has won awards from the US Distance Learning Association. The Education school has not.
If you choose to study Mathematics Education at WGU there are some pros and cons.
Pro or Con- You will have to teach yourself. WGU will give you a textbook to read and a Math mentor who may point you to useful resources that you will have to self learn.
Con- Doesn't offer a discrete math course
Con- doesn't offer educational psychology class (Needed on some state teacher tests)
Con- You will write math essays that are scrutinized by an examiner meticulously and possibly repeatedly con- There are more effective online learning models than Pearson, which WGU uses. Example: Coursera and edX math classes.
Con- On your course of study guide to learning math, more resources should be provided or should supplement already existing programs. Example abstract algebra is already offered online for free at Harvard. Linear algebra is offered online for free at MIT. WGU should redesign the COS so WGU students could reach the level of learning by Harvard and MIT.
I still recommend WGU for the price, and its other programs.
I wouldn't recommend anyone to being a math teacher nowadays, too much hassle and drama.

I am absurdly frustrated in my carrer because I feel I did not learn anything at WGU. Is it cheap? Yes. Quick? Yes. Does it provide good education? NO! This school should not be allowed to continue open. It's a disgrace to colleges. I didn't take one class with one real teacher my whole degree. It's pathetic and I hate myself for doing this.
I graduated 4 years ago and am still making only 36K because I am unable to advance in my career & unfortunately I blame the cheap education I receive. All they want is your money.

As a currently enrolled student, since May 2012, I can attest to the legitimacy and validity of the coursework and ancillary help via course and student mentors.
I am currently enrolled in the IT Management program, which is part of the Business College and have enjoyed every aspect of this program and school since starting.
Yes, you have to be a self-starter, but for people in my position of having some college and wanting to finish up at an accelerated pace, this is the perfect format.
Not only are the costs extremely affordable (and I checked out a half-dozen or so alternative programs before deciding on WGU), but being able to learn at your own pace and apply already-learned experience to a class is well worth it.
For me this was a no-brainer, as I would only be able to take at most 3 classes in a traditional brick-and-mortar setting during a 3 to 4 month period. I have now completed 14 classes our of 23 (I transferred in 10 classes from previous college attendance) in less than a year. I should be able to finish within the next 9 months.
I would encourage anyone to give WGU a serious look. If you want a cost-effective education that allows you to capitalize on previous college and life/work experiences, then WGU may be just for you.
