I am extremely impressed by the positive experience I am having enrolling in the University of the Rockies. My experience has been enhanced by the Admissions counselor. His professionalism and assistance has given me a positive attitude, increased motivation, and decreased anxiety as I am about pursue my doctorate degree.

This school has been the best decision I could have ever made. A school of Profressional Psychology brings such a vast array of profressional students together which was terrific for networking!! The faculty are in the fields they teach, they could relate to the positions I strived for and provided additional insight into possibilities of careers I never knew of. Very profressional enrollment service. Very different than anything I encountered at larger schools. I had an amazing experience, challenging but very happy in my decision.

University of the Rockies is not APA accredited. This school PsyD program is not approved by the APA,if you are already at a job and do not want to practice Psychology and need this degree to move up in your current company than this is the degree for you.

Even UofR's own website requires that their professors be graduates of an APA accredited school.

If you want to teach at a community college than this is the degree for you. the bottom line is that this degree will not get you to the level as somone who studied at an APA approved program.

I do not recommend the University of the Rockies.

I was very excited to start at the University of the Rockies. I was hopeful to complete PsyD program. ...and yes I was aware of all the APA controversy, etc. But I was very much interested in psychology and the first three classes were outstanding from the learning perspective - however...

The instructors offered no type of discussion "policing" and would let individuals rant about topics that were racist, misogynistic, religiously intolerant, and simply hate filled. On two occassions with two different instructors, I quoted students and complained about their comments. Both instructors told me to simply "avoid" the offending student.

The instructors have no concept of the adult learner's needs; nor do the school policies do not compliment an adult learner's situations. I found the professors to be very linear of thought and performance. Finally, after discovering there would be no yielding of school policies, I withdrew.

As I was considering withdrawing, another student entered the course having dropped the same course weeks before due to an instructor conflict. She explained to me that the instructor berated her until she dropped the class, but because of the money being paid she still had to complete the course. So her goal was to complete the class and withdraw.

I honestly believe that had I stayed, failure would have been my future because of the intstructor's and school's lack of respect for me, the adult learner. And to further the bad experience, it appears they cannot figure out how much I owe them since I withdrew. Once they told me all fees have been paid and then another office within the university emails and tells me there is outstanding debt - not once, but twice.

I do not recommend them at all. I moved on to another online school. Unfortunately not a psychology centered program, but I am treated with the respect.

Great for life long learners and self...

I have been an entrepreneur and college professor (in a Big 10) university). The PsyD program at the Rockies is for mature students who are self motivated and demanding of professors and of themselvs. Education is timely, thorough and challenging with professors who are student centered.

I am half-way through the classroom requirement part and find it so exciting to learn the varied career paths now open OTHER than clinical psych. Thanks, Rockies. I had an opportunity to interview Dean Kirkpatrick last August. I found him to be very concerned about the cost-benefit of the program. I also found my professors to be not only very qualified but by not worrying about tenure, they dedicate their time to student learning and assistance.

Some reviewers must have gotton ahold of the rare rotten apple, but that professoro or admission counselor probably didn't last a fortnight.
