I happen to be lucky and have a parent who was willing to pay for my masters degree so I could move up the pay scale at my school. I look at UOP as buying a masters degree. The classes are not challenging. The only challenging part is having to work in teams. The first team I had was great. Each of my members seemed to be very educated and hard workers.

After that, it was a different story. There were always excuses and I always ended up doing the project. Many of them said they had work or challenges at home. Um, isn't that the whole point of taking online courses? Because you have a home life and work? I wanted to earn my A so it didn't bother me too much, because like I said, the assignments weren't challenging. If you are alrady a teacher, the courses are basically about the job you already do.

Being forced to work in a team did not make me happy. The whole point of taking online courses is to do work on your own time. Having to work with a team kind of threw that whole plan off. Then, I had to work with people who had no idea what was going on at all. There were several times I had to teach people who to do a PowerPoint, which made me wonder if UOP checks to see if students have a bachelors degree at all. At sometime you would have had to done a PowerPoint in a class.

My opinion, if you can get someone to pay for the classes, then it is a good deal and easy degree.

I am currently finishing up my Masters program at UofP online and am enjoying all my learning experiences. I have four more classes to complete and then I student teach.

I have found my UofP online learning experience to be fulfilling as well as applicable to a future teaching career. The instructional methods and strategies taught through my masters program courses are current as well as useful to a future teacher. I believe I will be completely prepared to not only effectively teach my students, but also be able to successfully manage my own classroom due to the research, the knowledge of teaching methods as well as the hands on learning experiences (field experience) UofP has required of me through my graduate classes.

I highly recommend this university but will warn you that if you are not self-motivated, then online learning is not for you. Furthermore, one should go to school to further educate himself, not to just earn a degree. Education, no matter where it takes place, is what one makes of it after it is learned/earned.

Good luck and all the best!

O.K. lets set something straight about U.O.P. I graduated from there with a B.S and had NO problem getting into Texas A&M, yes, Texas A&M Graduate program. ALL my credits transferred and if U.O.P was not accredited then I would not have been able to get in.

The only reason I am not getting my Masters at U.O.P is becasue the one I want is online only and that is not good for me. My advice....Go to UOP and get your undergrad degree and then you WILL 100% be able to transfer it to ANY school for Graduate studies.

I have been a student at the University of Phoenix since August of '09, and I am three classes away from my associates degree.

I had previously earned 15 credits at a traditional college, but I couldn't pay for gas to get there anymore. All of my credits transferred to the University of Phoenix with no problem.

There is a lot, I mean a lot, of work involved with the program I'm in. You with have to have the self-confidence to attand your classes and turn in your work, or you will fail.

If you can't work hard, or are not committed, do not join this school. But if you are serious about being a student, and you can make it to a traditional class, this is for you.

Don't get tangled in their web...

School not recommended by Eiesha on January 26, 2011

As I am nearing graduation with 4 classes left for my associates degree, I decided to see how this college name stood up to future employers on my resume. after finding this site and reading the reviews, everyone's story is exactly what I went through! Now I want to warn everyone that I went through the same "holding grant money" BS, the "not answering the phone" thing. Now I wish I knew all of this at the beginning and I would have transferred out in a flash just like my instincts were telling me to do in the first place!

Now I am trapped because I am almost done. I have to finish with them only because I know that my credits will not transfer to another school. Basically I will have to start all over again. But I honestly dont feel like I am prepared for the real-life working experience this degree entails. I feel like I am basically teaching myself.

I am amazed at how some of the students even pass the class when they can barely write a correct sentence in proper English. I put in 100% on my essays and coursework, but I am beginning to wonder if my over-the-top efforts are in vain. I hope my associates degree will be taken seriously because I personally worked my butt off, but I will do my bachelors degree elsewhere.

The horror stories are true. I always felt inside that they were shady, but was in denial because of the amount of money I was investing. But the feeback from other students has confirmed it for me! This university IS super expensive and money hungry. My advice is to avoid getting tangled in their web in the first place. Otherwise, you will be writing this same story, trust me!
