I have read many of these reviews and wonder many questions. First I graduated in 2011 with a BS in Telecommunications/Networking. I was the only one with this degree at my graduation. What I did see was about 30% Business Degrees, and 30% psych degrees. That is 60% percent crap. Be honest basketwweaving and a business degree are about the same.
No disrespect but I would guess a majority of college students are getting that sort of degree. You are learning business online??? Where is the internship??????? Dont get my started on PSYCH!! CRAP, you dont learn how to study people online, its not logical. You need to interact with people in person. I figured an online degree is perfect for a computer science degree. Just makes sense. I understand people cannot always attend a campus, but really folks??

Although the University of phoenix is very expensive as well its what you put into it is what you get out of any education experience. Bottom line do your best and focus on the team assignments and individual assignments will get you your grade. If you follow the syllabus the instructors give you you cannot go wrong.
Do your job in the realtime as doing that same job here is going to land you that A but also remember the Instructors do prevail over your work. Procastination as someone has said you might as well forget it because that sets you up for failure as I have found out in some class where others come in the last minute and say can I help and leave and never return again. Sorry not in my team your going to do the work or the eval at the end is not going to show much. If you procastinate at work its lucky for you that your employer puts up with it. I cannot do that in my job therefore I do not do it here as a student or realtime.
You work for a grade and if you cannot take pride in that then quit comming to class because we are all here to learn and that kind of attitude reflects not just on you but everyone else as well. To be a good leader is to be a good follower and if you cannot follow then don t lead but just getting dragged through with others to help is not good which is sliding along.

I have been at UoP since mid 2010. I have an amazing support team. I am truly impressed with these guys and gal. In the end though it does not matter how supportive they are I do not like Universities system.
Is it a bad system? It is for me but, may work for others. I am also a bit disgruntled that I have called the places I was interested in being employed with. I ask them what my chances were of getting a job with my UoP degree. They told me my chances would be slim over other candidates. Some ask me if it was from a campus or online. I am not sure why that matters. However they told me they did not recognize the online degrees. This is a bit disheartening.
I have had really bad luck with my instructors. I am finishing out my courses at around 90-100%. However, they keep changing the rules. What is this an education or house monopoly? I was told the university has no control over instructors requirements. Sorry I have suffered long enough with their disorganization and disrespect for the KISS rule.
I have given them a fair shot and way to much money.
I hate how they do financial aid. Just my opinion their allowed to hold whatever funds they wish. It is just annoying. It feels like big brother hand holding.
Then again after the caliber of peers I've encountered. I guess I can understand their methods.
I'm transferring to Ashford. I know what to expect from them. They have been very up front. I do not like everything I've heard but, I respect it. Also one of the jobs I inquired about recommended the college.
I had no problems earning my A.A. through Phoenix. It's an entirely different story when earning your B.S. To earn your bachelors, you MUST work on a team. An overwhelming majority of the team members are freeloaders that contribute little, if any, effort to the team assignments. In the end, it is you that will be completing the majority of the "team" work. Don't let Phoenix fool you...they'll tell you to inform the instructor of your fellow team members lack of effort and they will be graded accordingly.
*This statement is false!*THESE STUDENTS WILL NOT BE GRADED ACCORDINGLY!! I took 6 classes at Phoenix before finally giving up and withdrawing. I GAVE Phoenix the benefit of the doubt for a total of 30 weeks yet nothing changed. In the end, it became very clear that I was paying tuition and completing assignments for myself AND the freeloaders. Attend University of Phoenix only if you do not mind sharing your grades with fellow team members.
I graduated from UOP in 2001. Though I've been consistently working, only my work experience has helped. Companies are now telling me flat that they won't consider me with this degree EVEN WITH WORK EXPERIENCE.
I have EXCELLENT background as a PM with exceptional references. UOP is now considered a low life school in many companies. DO NOT GO HERE! I feel so sorry for you who have paid, like me, graduated, and want to say they had a great experience. Why wouldn't you? You just spent 2-4 years at this place.
The PBS Frontline May 2010 UOP bashing hurt us a lot. Look it up. From my perspective it hurts to write this knowing it will crush some people. Two words, class action.
