The programs at George Washington University are rigorous; the professors expect you to act professional and through readings seminars they expect you to be articulate, well prepared and responsive to others' comments. Also, the school is in Washington, D.C. ! History and political science majors can live in the Watergate Hotel and we can do research at the National Archives. Thus, the sources for graduate students is never ending.

The one thing I didn't like was the lack of funding for graduate students. Undergraduates get tons of scholarships and grants and Ph.D students have great funding opportunities but the only things really available to master's students are loans. What makes up for the loans, however, is the fact that you are getting a higher degree from a great university so the loans do pay for themselves. Trust me, I was well prepared for my career after attending George Washington University. Like I said, the loans pay for themselves and I gained a lot of experience from my education there. Now, I'm a top researcher in Washington D.C. and I feel like I accomplished my goals due to George Washington. Go Colonials!

The program at George Washington University is exactly what I needed to prepare myself specifically for practicing as a counselor in the school system. There are many aspects of practicing in this area that are specific to the environment, and the faculty is aware that the influences and resources we have to work with are unique. We were taught many methods of how to work well in this milieu of parents, faculty, other students, and so on. There is a very diverse faculty and student body at work in this program, so the multi-disciplinary aspect of my occupation is well represented. Classes and practicum are well integrated, it is clear from how well things are put together that the school knows how to best balance work and practice to turn out professionals who are able to put their advanced education to good use. The program was the prep I needed to be accredited to practice as the George Washington University master’s in School Counseling is accredited by the CACREP and NCATE who determine the credentials in this professional area.
