This is an excellent Catholic University. I have earned my BACJ here and am now in the MS Degree Program. Online courses are very challenging and intense. The Professors are very helpful and the coursework is intense and difficult. I love this University and you will too, but, be ready to buckle down. It's tough, but rewarding!

I have attended Saint Leo since 2004, and have received my Associate in Liberal Arts, BA Business Management, and BA in Human Resources. I am currently enrolled in the MBA program, and will complete this program June of this year. I can truly say that I have had a pleasant experience with Saint Leo. I took the majority of my undergraduate classes in a classroom setting which was sort of complicated since I am a single parent. By this, I mean attending classes on the different Military bases. One semester I experienced 3 classes on 3 different Military bases but I was determined to do whatever it took for me to graduate. I was able to receive my first degree within 28 months, and was an honor graduate.

Also, I have extremely good grades in the MBA program. It took motivation, dedication and determination to be successful. Now I am looking for a university to enroll in a PHD program. Thanks Saint Leo for motivating me and giving me the encouragement that I needed to further my education.

Not As Advertised

I was told by Saint Leo staff that the school was secular and that the MBA Online degree was for working professionals who wanted their MBA in a year. I soon realized that it was indeed a Catholic university (I'm not Catholic) and that the programs were so crammed and so demanding that it took me 30 hours per week just to do one class...there was no way that I could do the 2 classes per term needed to be finished within 1 year's time.

The administration of SLU is unsupportive. They couldn't care less whether there is a problem or not.

Instructional staff is varied. There are a few good professors but the majority are poor quality. It can take 2 days or more to get a response from them. In a school where classes are only 8 weeks long...2+ days to get a response feels like a long time.

The library's online resources are also highly limited. It can take as long to find a source as it does to write a paper using that source.

Technically speaking, besides the library's online resources, the technology used to deliver the online classes is often antiquated. Links often do not work. Programs routinely fail to load. There have been times during a test when the whole site went down without technical support.

The only enjoyable aspect of the classes is the students. The program often has some of the best and brightest students in the world, with dramatically different backgrounds.

Professor interactions are usually not as nice. I have found that professors are hampered by the "cookie cutter" design of the classes. They have little control over the content or assignments. Essentially, a monkey could teach these classes, as the power of the professors is usually highly limited, with the course preset by professors who are now retired from SLU.

Overall, if I could do it again, I would have gone to another university. I can definitely say that I will not support them as an alumna.

Saint Leo undergrad online

I looked at a lot of programs before I chose Saint Leo. I am very glad that I made the choice I did. The classes are very good and the professors are truly interested in the online students. I read the review from the person that said, "They just take their 16 week course and cram it into 8". It is true and it is an accelerated program. If you are looking for a program that will just send you through the paces and expect nothing, this is not the school for you. If you really want to learn while you earn your degree, it is great! I am very happy with my choice.

On-line MBA Classes

I signed up for the on-line MBA degree in February 2008. The accelerated 8-week classes are for people that are willing to commit 15 to 20 hours a week (per class) for homework. They definitely require that you know your material to pass. If you have the discipline and drive, you can get your MBA in two years (or less).

Because I must travel for my job, the on-line program suited my lifestyle best. They do not leave anything out of the accelerated classes and I feel I have obtained the knowledge I paid for. I have one class left and I will be done in October 2009. I recommend Saint Leo’s on-line program to anyone that is serious about learning and obtaining his or her degree.

Criminal Justice

I have been at St. Leo since 2005. I have received my AA and my BA in criminal Justice. I am now in their MS in criminal justice program. I have both feelings for this school. The issues that I have had is with their financial aid department not being able to give me straight answers and I always get the run around. Another issue I have had is the lack of care and knowledge from my student advisers, it seemed as if they were constantly switching them on me and not relaying records to the new one,and I constantly was having to send multiple emails to get answers. I have not had issues with my records when it comes to grades or any issues dealing with professors. I have had great experience with all professors. The site is difficult to navigate at first but once you get the hang of it, it comes natural. They are easy to get a hold of when I need to phone them, and I can easily access my transcripts and other personal information through their website. All in all I think they are an honest school and I would recommend them. I wish though they did have more online degree programs to choose from

Review

I have been attending this university since 2004. I would NOT recommend this school to anyone. The online courses are simply the 16 week campus courses crammed into 8 weeks online work.

For the past year, since they did away with their university alliance contract, there have been no lectures in any of the 6 courses I've completed during that time. It's simply a read an enormous amount of text in the books, and take the test kind of coursework. For the bad quality, they even raised their tuition. How that's justified is beyond me.

The accounting is so bad I have had to prove twice that I didn't owe them money that they claimed I did. Stay far away from Saint Leo College of Online Learning. You'll be glad you did.

BS--Computer Information Systems

St. Leo has been an awesome experience for me. I went back to school, after several years, to work on another BS in computers. The course work has been pretty difficult so far, but the instructors are always there to answer questions that we have. The on-line classrooms are pretty easy to navigate once you get used to them. I can only say good things about my experiences here with both my fellow classmates and instructors. They are awesome. Overall, if you are looking for a degree you can do completely on-line, that will challenge you personally and professionally, then St. Leo is the place for you.
