If you are young and looking for your typical "college" experience, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for convenient and thorough education without wanting to take out student loans, then come on in.
I am a single mom and I work over 50 hours a week to take care of my kids. I don't have the time nor the money to waste on frivolous schools or courses. I am also no longer in the position to finish my degree at the school I planned on attending, so I am beefing up my educational resume first with the SAC certification and then will move on to my AS until my kids are in school.
What's great about these programs is that they are at your own pace - I finished my coursework about a month after I started, which was about 6 months ago, but I am now just able to start working towards my externship.
They WILL stop your shipments/ability to access your materials if you do not pay. That is like expecting to be able to go into a restaurant and eat without paying. They are not "scam artists". They are a BUSINESS. They are a private, for-profit school, so, yes, they do want your money. Especially if you agreed to pay for their services. But what other accredited institution is going to allow you to get an associate's degree for less than 5k? Seriously? The best part is, they will take you no matter what your credit is or how many loans you have out for school. This is actually helping me to make more money to pay off my other student loans and to go back to school for my Master's Degree. I say, if you are dedicated and willing to actually work - and it IS work! - talk to an enrollment counselor. This is a great place to learn.

I have more to say about all of the people that reviewed this school in a negative way than what I actually have to say about the school itself. Not a single person who gave Penn Foster bad marks could type a coherent paragraph without numerous spelling errors and slang language. Most of the people had already dropped out or failed out of this school and/or other schools. You may just not be intelligent enough for college in the first place, accept it instead of calling a school a scam.

first of all, i'm pretty sure 'G' is a shill.
I was a potential student interested in the Substance Abuse Counselor program. I requested the materials, but after reading them I realized there really wasn't very much information in them. As a current surgical tech and vet tech, I had questions about the internship requirements since they gave practically no information about it, and I wanted to make sure I would be able to complete it as required having a full-time job. I sent an email to customer service, and the response I received back was unbelievably rude and insulting! All I had were a few questions, very simple, and I was polite and courteous, but this woman actually called me stupid for asking. I then complained about her to PF, where I was told they would get back to me, but I never heard anything back.
All I can say is if this is how they treat people when their goal is to try to get them to sign up, I can only imagine how they must be once you're locked in, and have a question about your class. Reading these reviews here, I am comforted to see that it wasn't just me, and I'm very very glad I had questions before signing up, or I may have made the mistake of becoming a student here.

I am very pleased to say that Penn Foster is a great way to learn while already working in your field of choice. I am currently a certified technician and i recieved my diploma through penn foster! The program outlined for you is awesome! I am currently attending for med coding & billing to expand my horizon. Researching, and study materials can be found throughout the internet i.e youtube, wikipedia, as well as resources & library provided online from Penn Foster. GREAT SCHOOL! THANKS PENN!
