Board Benders Springboard Diving

School recommended by Cindy Peterson- O'Donnell on May 04, 2010

Northeastern provide everything for me. A 4 year full tuiton scholarship for springboard diving as a freshman transfer student, an amazing support system academically, a beautiful and fun city to learn and explore, the opportunity to grow as an adult and only depend on myself, an opportunity to work in different fields of business and gain experience before I graduated.

This gave me such an edge when it was time to interview. Northeastern is also where I met my husband, alumni of NU too. We now reside in Easton, PA where I continue with my passion as a springboard diving coach and business owner of Board Benders Springboard Diving.

I am happy to say I am doing exactly what I want to be doing and I wouldn't be where I am at today if it wasn't for the experience that Northeastern University provided for me. Good luck in your college decisions because it could pave the way for the rest of your life.

NU is the perfect combination of college life, work experience and city life. All of those experiences helped me with my professional career. It also offers great diversity, which influenced my decision to move to London for 2 years for work, while traveling Europe on the weekends.

Finally, with NU's Co-Op, no student can go wrong with this school. It prepares you for life, while having fun. Students just need to take control of their education.

Real World Skills

By the time I graduated Northeastern University I had worked for:

* A large Boston Law Firm

* A renowned International Consulting Firm

* The US Government (HUD)

* Logan International Airport

* A Survey Research Firm

The flexible schedule allowed me to accrue substantive real world working experience while receiving an academic education. Most importantly, Northeastern helped me learn how to write and communicate. When I subsequently matriculated to the "working world" I had an extensive resume which included "real job experience". Today I'm the CEO of StartUpSelling, Inc. and author of a newly released book called Your Virtual Success, Finding Profitability in an Online World.

Great Opportunities

Northeastern University created great opportunities for me to learn how to be an adult in the "real world" before graduating. Throughout my 4 1/2 years at Northeastern, I experienced four working semesters (Northeastern's co-op program) at two television stations, a non-profit organization and at a law firm. I majored in Journalism and minored in Political Science and the professors were not only phenomenal in the classroom, but had hands-on experience working in the fields they taught. This was particularly impressive in my journalism classes when my professors could tell stories of news reporting from all over the world. Before I graduated from Northeastern, I had already been offered a job from my last co-op and was happily settled in an apartment off-campus with friends I had met in the dorm. Graduation felt official because of the ceremony but in my mind, the transition had happened long before that. I now run a company called Launch into Boston to help college students and young professionals work and live in Boston. My strengths and ability to do this is in part due to my "real life" education gained at Northeastern.

Greate place to go to school

School recommended by anonymous on May 16, 2008

Northeastern is a great place to go to school! I know of very few people in any major that truly dislike it. Most of the classes are interesting and there is a wide variety of classes and majors/minors to choose from. In addition, Boston is the ultimate college town. There is always something to do 24/7 (although this may interfere with your sleep). I think that anyone who visits the campus will realize what a great school this is. I'm very happy with my choice!!
