I can relate to most of the listed frustrations with the lack of readily availible communication with staff. I usually reach an answering machine that indicates staff will contact me within twenty four hours. I'm usually contacted within that time, but it can be frustrating if I miss their call because when I call back, I reach the same recording. Luckily, I havent had much need to communicate with office staff. I find that when I do, email works much better. When contacting the bookstore, I usually reach I live person and they are freindly/helpfull.
All of my courses have been challenging and on target. On occassion, there have been issues with the online Blackboard system, but it's usually trouble free for me.
All of my instructors have been kind and professional with the exception of one. He had a poor attitude, was not personable, and generally seemed like a miserable person.
Overall, I would recommend this university. However, I would wait until the Higher Learning Commission makes a ruling on the regional accredidation status before enrolling in any courses.

I just completed by Bachelor's program online.
The online program is not bad. The program is like most things in life, you get out of it what you put into it. Be ready to do a lot of reading and write a lot of papers. Instructors vary, some are good some not so good.
When all is said and done it was a worth while experience for me.

First and foremost I will do my best to give a fair and balanced review of Mountain State University.
I have been a student of MSU since 2006. I have received my Bachelor's and Master's degree from in both leadership programs.
I have to admit that MSU has some of the lowest tuition around when it comes to comparing prices especially in the graduate level courses.
MSU has an exceptionally low graduation rate, but that's due to the fact that the School accepts 100% of its applications. With that being said, many students will take a class here and there, but won't graduate and the main reason are normally financial and personal reasons.
The BS in Org Leadership starts of pretty tough for the first semester, but then it gets really easy the last 3 semesters. The graduate level leadership program is a different animal. It's a lot of work all the way through, but very rewarding in the end and well worth it.
Some of the cons that I don't like about MSU is the fact that they simply don't have enough staff to cover down for the nearly 8000 students that attend the university. With that being said, expect delays at times when you are trying to get in touch with faculty members/teachers/professors especially if its an emergency. Those complaints about getting in touch with staff are actually legit!
MSU isn't the worse college in my opinion, and it can't be since they are the largest private university in the State of West Virginia. That right there says a lot, and I am also a current student with MSU and have been since 2006.
Also, when applying for financial aid, there can also be a delay in the process because they are simply under staffed! Overall, I have to say that MSU is worth it. Is it perfect? By all means no! But you do meet good people in the programs that turn out to be life long friends.
Are some professors better than others especially in their knowledge and quick turn around time when trying to get in touch with them? Yes!
Overall, I would recommend MSU to others, but if your looking for perection, then you might get disappointed in MSU.

This was a great school and very professional. I found the curriculum to be challenging and relevant to current industry standards and expectations. Some of the instructors were more interested in themselves than education, but I've also found that to be true at other schools. Overall very good educational experience, I'd highly recommend it.

I have been an online student at Mountain State University since 2009. The educational experience has enriched me and given me new confidence in my profession. I have had nothing but great experiences with the staff in advising, financial aid, all departments. The instructors are always very responsive and helpful. I am very happy to have attended. I will be completing my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science in 2012 and I am grateful that MSU is there for me.
