I'm a current student with LUO. I was also a residential student as well... so after a few years I've been able to really get to know the school. I'm a business major with a minor in psychology.
This is a Christian school. I see a lot of reviews stating that they were angry that the instructors incorporated a Christian perspective into their teachings. The goal of this school is to build Christian professionals. If you aren't a Christian, have a closed mind or don't agree with a lot of what the Bible says- this isn't the school for you. I personally have grown in my faith while attending. At one point there were a lot of things I didn't agree with but Liberty taught me how to understand the word of God. Even if the subject material seems far away from God- it actually isn't. You can reference the Bible for almost every topic and LU just teaches you how to connect real life (in my case, business and psychology) to biblical scriptures. If this isn't okay with you- then don't go to this school. If you have an open mind, or really love Christ and His word- you will love it!
As far as the financial aid department, haven't had one issue. EVERY school is going to have issues though and I'm sorry some have had issues with liberty. Unfortunately, just because this is a Christian college- not everything will be perfect. Don't forget that every school will have its issues- esp in the financial aid department. People are writing some horrible things about the "customer service" and I have NEVERRRRR had any of the financial aid people treat me with disrespect. I've left 2 other schools before BECAUSE the staff didn't seem to care. I'm a person that loves when I'm around nurturing, caring people and this is the reason I chose Liberty. I have the feeling the people that have issues with the financial aid department are the ones that become hostile right away when something doesn't go right. I've learned that getting angry over something that can be fixed doesn't getchya anywhere. If an issue arises, calm down, figure it out, pray and focus on your studies.
The teachers are all great! Really understanding. There will always be a few that aren't to your liking. Right now I have an international business teacher who isn't exactly very friendly with his announcements or emails. But hey, you take it with a grain of salt!
I read some people complain about how the classes are laid out and how they hate that they have to teach themselves. ITS AN ONLINE SCHOOL.. you HAVE to teach yourself. Newsflash: In college, it's all about teaching yourself in the end. You have to be disciplined to read every page of that book assigned, listen to all the online lectures/power points, take notes and study your behind off. Its about HARDWORK! Promise.
Overall, it's an amazing school. I wasn't a fan at first but after a few years of growing up, growing in my faith, and putting in my really hard work- I'm thankful that I'm a flame. I have learned SOOOOO much.. even more so online then I have as a residential student.
Please consider LUO and know that almost every person that works at LUO (Teachers and staff) all aim to treat the students as Christ would. They are very friendly, helpful, respectful and honest people that are there to serve you!

Folks, this school is a joke. I made the mistake of transferring from an equally horrible Christian college. These people take being conservative to the extreme. If you are a "one-upper" who chases the dust of the Jones' then this is a great place for you.
Christianity is practiced from a single-minded perspective of Baptist doctrine. This school is proud to boast about its online enrollment. Multiply the number of students by the financial aid dollars this institution receives and one will quickly see the connection. The instructors are insensitive and the students are hiding from life behind the Bible.
If one proclaims any denominational affiliation other than Baptist, then one will be quickly alienated. Folks, you are not going to obtain suitable employment after graduation. Most of the world with its political correctness does not care about your Christian education.
Why did I attend? Hell, if I know. I should have stuck to with my instinct, left community college and entered a four-year secular college. You will receive a better education (and a lot cheaper) at a community college. A two-year associate from a community college has more credibility than a four-year degree from Liberty.
Oh, I know, there are those who love Liberty, and those who will choose this school because secular education is of the devil (whatever). Trust me, if you attend this place you will question exactly what it is you do love. Folks, I am a pastor and this place has all but caused me to dig up the old man and partake if several stiff cocktails.
By the way, repaying loans is not cheap. You can easily end up 40 grand (or more) in the hole. The payment on this is over 400.00 monthly. If you are one planning to pastor, then you had better hit the pavement and start recruiting folks to fill the pews (a lot of them) and roll barrels around during offering.

This is a great school. Its fully accredited and teaches quality classes. The price can't be beat and if your prior military they give discounts and money towards books. I was a police officer and received a second discount which was significant.
Employers in my area laugh at some of the online colleges because they think them a joke not here. Your degree reads Liberty University not a bit about online. If your looking to further your career then this is an excellent place to start.

If you want to get the run around from pretty much everyone there then go to Liberty! Also if you want Jesus and the Bible shoved down your throat go to Liberty! Every degree is pretty much a religion degree, and if you try to make valid points about anything not found in the Bible, your grade will suffer.

The coursework was challenging and inventive. Moving from undergrad education to the seminary I found the same high levels of competency, friendliness, and attention to detail from professors while developing good communication skills with my classmates. My 2010 visit to the campus with my family aided in my decision to later enroll in seminary.
The cultural diversity on the campus and with staff hails the Christian spirit of the Falwell legacy. In all, out of the five years I have been enrolled in Liberty I have thoroughly enjoyed the educational experience here.
