The negative reviews are obviously bogus if one looks closely...
Anyway I used to attend LU when I was young, and I recently returned to finish my degree now that I am older.
I have immensely enjoyed my experience since Day 1.
I loved all of my professors, they were wonderful people and teachers who responded in kind- and assisted me with whatever I needed. Never any problems.
I have received excellent feedback from all departments, prompt and polite feedback at that. Never any problems.
I have loved all of my classes, I have appreciated the value of each, even the work required (PHIL 201, lol)- I learned much and also learned about myself in turn. Truly amazing experience, and I am truly thankful I am able to attend this school.
I am considering the Bible Institute available online as well through LU, as I desire to learn as much as I can about Scriptures. I could never have enough.
God bless.

I started a few years ago at Liberty University Online. My wife had been studying online line for a year at Liberty. We both enjoy going to this school. I would not change this school for another. I have also been to their campus in Lynchburg Va.WOW!
They really take care of their students. It is a must see campus! The classes are hard at times, be this is to be expected. You are expected to do quite a bit of work, tests are the hardest.

First off, let me say that I love God with all of my heart. I was eager to go to a "Christian" school, even if just online.
I'm also passionate about business, which is why I decided to get my MBA. I was thrilled for the opportunity to get an MBA from a Christian perspective and learn how I could glorify God and serve people through business.
Liberty is concerned about one thing, I'd say money but I don't even think that's true. In reality, they are concerned about their image. Truth means little to them if it conflicts with what they perceive their own self-worth to be.
3 examples: 1) I quickly found that Liberty primarily based their grades upon tests which they purchased from McGraw-Hill and other secular textbook publishers. This would not be an issue except for the tests were consistently wrong. Each class, I had to spend at least 2 additional hours per test writing short answer responses, proving that my answers were indeed correct and the tests were errant. Even grammar was non-existent - often times, questions were difficult or impossible to understand given the lack of proper English. I took 10 classes with Liberty University - 7 had this issue (that I could prove). After presenting sound arguments to Liberty to resolve the issues, both for myself and future students, the issue was quickly swept under the table. In all fairness, professors often changed my grade and complained to me privately that they knew it was a problem. However, the administration refused to accept truth as fact.
2) Liberty is the largest "Christian" university in the US. As I stated before, I was extremely excited to learn business from the Christian perspective. Unfortunately for Liberty, God is, at worst, a marketing ploy and, at best, a footnote. I found that Liberty's idea of Christianity has nothing to do with Christ's example of servitude, ministry, or selflessness. Liberty's "Christianity" over-spiritualizes empathy. Conveniently, after every email where they essentially tell you that they don't care, they end it with "God bless" or "In Christ." Professors in classes emphasized secular textbooks and viewpoints and never showed how Christians should serve as the example in everyday life.
3) Liberty's education is purely focused on highlighting professor's research vs. real-world application. Papers, tests, and other assignments are graded solely on the basis of one's ability to cite other professor's research, even if it conflicts with reality. Grades are allotted based on hoop-jumping, such as APA format, peer-reviewed research citations, and conformity to textbook conclusions. Any attempt to present new ideas based on actual experiences or real-world examples is seen as insufficient and unworthy. In order to pass a class, myself and other students (during team projects) actually had to start conversations by distinguishing the difference between reality and what was being taught.
In closing, I would not choose Liberty Online University again if my life depended on it. I've already let my financial life depend on it and I'm left with mountains of debt and nothing to show for it. If you have the option, choose Phoenix or another online university. I wish I had.

I do not understand where all the negativity is coming from but it is obvious that there are some who have had a difficult experience with Liberty University. My question for those who experienced difficulties is what did you do to contribute to your succcess at the school and make your ride a pleasurable one.
I have been going to liberty since 2009 and have completed my Masters. Honestly the coursework was challenging and because of the fruit that they are attempting to produce and introduce to the world their requirement for excellence is extremely high but in all fairness it should be. The real world requires excellence in order to accomplish authentic success. If one did not receive the grade of an A it is truly because it was not earned. If one had difficulties with receiving guidance about their financial aid maybe its because one did not ask the correct questions.
I have never had a issue with my financial aid and I have received student loans from the university. Students must understand that all of us are in a crunch when we are expecting financial aid it seems as if their is an insurmountable weight of anxiety attached to it because our need to purchase materials or take care of business associated with being a student. We can not blame the financial aid department if our money happens to be deposited into our account a few days later because per the guidelines they have 14 business days and for some institutions 21 business days for your refunds to be deposited back into your account or for a check to be cut. I have received my refund always after the first 6 hours and after about half way through my classes plus or minus a few days. I too become anxious but not to the point of defaming an organization or individuals character.
The trick to getting what it is what you want is to research and learn how to manuever. The difficulties and negativity expressed in previous post is thoroughly because of a lack of knowledge. The schools policy is that financial aid will be disbursed after the first 6 hours are acheived and one is half way through the course. Students who would like to benefit from their financial aid quickly know to immediatley sign up for no less than 6 credit hours therefore decreasing the long wait that can and will be experienced if the credit load is less than 6.
As far as the professors go to the website and check they at least have to have a Masters degree with 18hrs teaching in that discipline but for the most part faculty members have received a terminal degree. How do I know that? Because I am considering teaching online and I have researched their teaching requirements.
Obviously everyone will not be able to be pleased but to advise that the staff at liberty is anything less than excellent would be a lie.
Sidebar-As far as the requirements of an A being that one is a Christian that is false in my opinion. I am a Christian and I incorporated my textbooks as well as the Bible as a guide and one of my instructors advised that I have to make sure their is a balance in both because my clients and future patients may not be Christians and we must be respectful of all religious backgrounds. Does that sound like a professor that supports Chrisitan teaching? No it does not, it sounds like someone who understands that within the world of psychology we have to acknowledge the science and the information associated with the topic in order to provide quality services.
My coursework was very difficult but very rewarding. My teachers were and are tough but fair. They are teaching me how to thoroughly follow instructions. We have outstanding resources in place for both the residential and online community which include various organizations such as student government, online ministry's for the online community and numerous activities for the residence to assist with becoming acclimated to college life. All of my interactions have been positive with my classmates and instructors. And overall my experience was and is awesome.
