Kaplan offered me an awesome opportunity to complete my college degree with a bachelor of science in information technology which has allowed my career in the technology field to blossom. I now make more money at my current job as a Technology Analyst.. The knowledge that I have gained at Kaplan University has truly given me the freedom to work where I want and the power to command an appropriate salary. Thank you Kaplan University School of Information Technology for changing my life.

Former Kaplan Admissions Advisor...

DON'T DO IT.

I worked there for a year and couldn't wait to get out of there. I have a conscience therefore I wasn't a great admissions advisor.

When I left, it was about $34000 for an Associates degree and twice that for a Bachelors degree ($68K). Unbelievable. Sure there is convenience but the quality of the education is subpar and it's WAY WAY WAY overpriced. Spend the extra time and go to a local college. You'll retain more and your wallet will thank you for it.

DON'T DO IT!

Second Term IT Student

I'll be starting my second term on Wednesday and have to say that I absolutely love this school. With having a full-time job, it's hard to go to a traditional school.

I have had a couple issues with financial aid, but nothing that couldn't be fixed with correcting some forms and a couple of calls. I have spoken to my academic advisor, and have had no problems reaching him ever. He even called me a couple of days ago to congratulate me on a awesome first term.

If I ever had a problem or question that needed immediate answering, all I had to do was call or e-mail my admissions advisor and it was cleared up right away.

It takes a lot of hard work and effort and you have to stay on top of everything if you want to succeed. It's like life. You can't expect to lay back and be successful.

Constant frustration!

I have been at this school for over a year, with less than a year to go with an Advanced Start Bachelor program (Meaning I already have my AA). This school has become more and more frustrating as time goes on. It gets harder and harder to get a hold of my Academic Advisor and I have never been able to get a hold of my Financial Aid officer EVER! He does not return calls, emails, or requests from his supervisor to call. The administrative side of the school is crap.

The Classes are hit and miss. Some I feel like I'm learning something, and others, not so much. The Discussion boards are a waste of time in most instances, and the projects are inconsistent between the way they are written and how they are graded. Some instructors really care about how you do in the course, and others throw away points like they are insignificant.

I am currently shopping around for another school to finish my degree because I am fed up with the administrative side of the school, and I don't feel like I am getting a real education. I don't retain the information I am being taught because I am not quizzed on anything. I write papers on things that don't pertain to the subject at hand, and if I were to try to get a job in the field tomorrow, I would not feel like I knew what I was doing, because I have always had the books to fall back on. The Curriculum does not work well when it comes to memorizing anything.

I enjoyed my online learning experience. In general the professors were very helpful and wanted you to succeed in class. The coursework for me depended on the course. Some classes because of prior background were easy. Some like Discrete Mathematics were hard. Overall I would say the coursework was about right in most cases through for the credits you received. Classmates were very helpful and everyone was more than willing to help each other. It definitely prepared me for work in IT as a programmer
