Financial Aid, the Professors are the worst

I think that just from this experience that I will all of my questions lined up for the next school I attend.

Financial aid doesn't tell you what you owe up front which is not the way anyone should do business. All these fees and returning loans instead of using the rest of the money to cover what costs, they send it back and then want you to pay out of pocket.

The professor I had for Managerial Accounting was the worst. I often asked her for help because this was nothing like financial accounting which I am very good at. She only gave me vague answers and was just reinterate the question instead of just saying what she meant. I think she was very incompetant. Kaplan is the worst online school ever, but to each's own...I have nothing good to say about my experience.

Advisors are RUDE

Just know that if you EVER have a problem and can't reach your admission advisor, no matter how simple your question is..... nobody else will talk to you. They will outright REFUSE. I guess nobody cares unless they're getting the commission on you. (Yes, admission advisors do get a commission per student)

I am half way through a Bachelor's in Business Administration degree at Kaplan. The professors are great, my academic advisor is great, and I have learned many great things. Then there is the FINANCIAL AID department. Oh my God. I am in the process of changing schools because of the complete and total incompetence of this department. Language barriers, having a different FAO every other week, and the list goes on. I have been driven to tears on more than one occasion. Higher education is so important. Therefore, please do something with your confusion, Kaplan.

Kaplan University, Great School

I just finished my degree in from Kaplan May of 2009. I have nothing bad to say about the school. I called to ask about online education, and I ended up enrolling in the school. My favorite thing about Kaplan is that the week started on a Wednesday, and ended on that following Tuesday. You didn't have to rush through the week trying to get your work done by that Sunday. Most of the people going to school online work full time jobs, therefore they are very busy during the week.

I didn't have any problems with my financial aid or with my advisor. If you couldn't get your's, then you could talk to anyone that was avaiable. My living expense checks came on time, my financial aid was process on time.

The course work was very straight forwawrd. The class site was easy to naivigate. It was a lot of reading and research, but you could do the work if you put forth the effort. I am currently researching online schools now to get my Master's, and Kaplan is at the top of my list.

I have found most of the professors to be very helpful at Kaplan.

The homework and discussion boards are not overly difficult but they are time consuming, the work load is what you would expect from a short semester at a brick and mortar school.

They are a little on the expensive side for a "semester". The price per creidt hour is about the same as a regular unversity but the classes are 5-6 credit hours rather than 3-4 so the price for class is higher.

Be very careful if you are transferring into Kaplan, their class evalutions are bogus. When I talked to my admissions advisor they indicated almost all of my upper level classes would transfer. I got credit for one of my class I transfered in rather than four. To me it's just another way to get more money. If I had known this before I might have looked at a different school but I am to far into my degree plan now.

I recently received my Bachelor's degree through Kaplan. I appreciated many aspects of the online learning experience. Many of the professors were exceedingly helpful, but I wish they would have kept the mandatory seminar attendance. With that aside, I was truly appalled by the school's financial department. I feel like every semester my billings were wrong, and they weren't friendly to deal with. This is the reason I'm not enrolling in Kaplan for my Master's degree.

First, my experience with Kaplan has been excellent. I have no true bad reviews (there is room to grow in the Financial Aid Dept). Even with those woes, the resolutions were mostly spontaneous. I'm nearly done with my BS degree with Kaplan. However, I would suggest to anyone seeking higher learning to do your research. I started out with at a traditional university, here in NJ and later changed to ONLINE for optimal time management. I compared the courses and they were completely parallel. Even looking now at the MBA program in comparison to another here in NJ to consider the benefits. In conclusion, my overall experience with Kaplan's Professors, Advisors and even FinAid has been more than satisfactory and I'd recommend the University.

When I requested information for the Associates degree in Business Management I had a representative call me. He started out explaining the course programs and the finances. At this point he asked when I was looking to start pursuing my degree. I told him not until after the holidays do to my workload, which increases 10 fold during the holiday (Thanksgiving and Christmas) season. At this point he started telling me how he talks to people every day that have lost their job and I needed to start my degree prior to the holidays. I reitterated the workload thatI had in my job and he told me that it's great to gather information but if you aren't going to do something about schooling than it was a waste of time. He said that I should have 7 hours a week to do schooling no matter what I had going on and that I was using that as an excuse. As rude as this gentleman was, there is no way that I would pursue a degree from Kaplan.

BS Business

I am in the middle of my BS Business degree with Kaplan, and I have absolutely loved my learning experience. The professors are very helpful, caring and more excited about teaching than many professors I've had at traditional schools.

The school work is challenging, but not impossible. The books are included in the cost of tuition, which helps to offset the higher price of online learning tremendously, although the books are Kaplan versions, so you cannot resell them at the end of the term, unlike some other schools and classes.

I've always found the Academic Advisors to be very helpful and supportive. Student Accounts are reasonable, and Technical Support is helpful and friendly. Financial Aid is a mess - I've been with the school for 2 years and I have had 12 Financial Aid Officers (1-2 different FAOs per term). Financial Aid has been my only complaint, but I have never been suspended from classes due to it, or had any trouble other than having to figure out my own Awards Letter (which, as a BSB, I can do easily), and call in to get them to accept the disbursements from my student loans.

Overall, Kaplan has been an excellent experience for me.

Kaplan U is an okay school, however I do believe, especially at this campus, that there are some major problems. First of all, if your reading this you need to be aware of the fact that Kaplan does not tell you everything right up front, and that you only find out about things after u are here for awhile,

financial aid is difficult at best here. The people are just so darn difficult to deal with, then when it comes time to receive your stipend they forget to tell you that you need a certain percentage to recieve your money. They act like they own that at times.

Overall the instuctors are ok here, however I have dealt with some really nasty ones that don't take the time to talk about things, especially when you only have 9 weeks in a term that can be difficult at times, It is extremely fast paced here, which is a good thing because you can have a degree i n 18 months, which is a short amount of time, however since it has been so fast paced you do feel burned out and just get tired of it real easy.

I'm almost done with my Associate's degree, and have already been approached by the recruiters to go here for my BA, however since I have felt so disappointed with Kaplan I will not get my BA from this school and as far as my recommendation for future students of Kaplan, I say to use a lot of caution when considering this school because you may not get what you pay for.

I searched the internet for the best online college and found Kaplan University Online as the best online university to study management. I got the Bachelor of Science in Business after completing my curriculum there. It was a very much business oriented course. It covered all aspects of the modern business. We used cds, audio visual tools to learn, group discussion, learning techniques etc. The classmates and professors are very much co-operative.

I graduated from Kaplan University and I have nothing but great things to say about the University. I have attended a brick and mortar university and also the online setting and I find them very similar in terms of level of education.

I have never had a problem with the financial aid staff, quite the contrary. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. The classes start out easy for some and then progress into the higher level courses which are very difficult.

You need to have self discipline, organization and be self motivated to be a successful student. I don’t really get the students that go to this school and then quit, doesn’t really make sense, maybe you’re not a good student. Who enrolls into a University and then quits after a couple of classes there’s a reason why you don’t have a degree. Quit making excuses and ruining it for the students that have graduated and will graduate just because you couldn’t deal with the classes and environment and lack of financial aid understanding!
