Grand Canyon University was not a university I had even heard of until I was matched to it through CollegeFish.org. I was just finishing up on my Associates Degree and was doing some last minute searching for a University to go on and get my Bachelor's Degree. GCU had a major that I can find at no other university, and it is geared more toward what I am going for in life.
I hear people complaining about having to log on mulitple times, not getting full points when they don't log on enough, or participate in the discussion questions. Well, if it's part of the corriculum, and you need to do it for participation points, you should suck it up and do it....it's participation points....PARTICIPATION....you need to PARTICIPATE to get the points for the best grade. I have been in my first class for 3 weeks now, and am doing fine. I am doing what I am asked to do and it is paying off.
If you are not willing to put in the time and do a lot of research, this school may not be for you. But, if you are willing to put forth the effort and do what is required, this school is a true blessing in disguise! I would recommend this school, but only to serious students. This is not a skater-school, meaning you won't be able to "skate your way" through the courses and get a degree. You have to do the work.
Keep in contact with instructors...so far, mine has been very helpful. Keep in touch with your graduation team (academic, financial aid, and enrollment counselors) and they can keep you up to date on changes and your status. It's not as bad as a lot of these reviews are making it out to be. However, if you don't do the work, it would probably be bad.

Currently, I am a MAT student at Grand Canyon University. Back in February when I enrolled with the school, I signed a course fee waiver for my first class. I notice after my financial aid and refund check had posted, the $75.00 fee waiver had not posted. The information did not reflect to my account until about a week later. During this time, the school went up on their tuition rates and fees.
Therefore, it left me a $125.00 outstanding balance. When the money the waiver was applied to my account, it seems the school applied the $75.00 to the outstanding bill, the bill with the overages from the new tuition and fee charges, not the first course material fees. Today, I tried talking to a financial aid counselor manager about the issue, but that was a dead end conversation. My biggest issues with the school is if you are going to have a student sign a document stating you are going to do something, then please honor that document. In addition, the financial aid counselors can not articulate the school financial aid process. Lucky for me, COO emailed me today and explained the process to me.
Now, I have a clear understanding of how the process works. My advice for anyone who is about to attend Grand Canyon University is to document everything and if you have a problem do not go directly to that department, but voice your concerns to top management. Lastly, I have attended another for profit school and my experience with that school was GREAT!! Grand Canyon University has a lot more improving to do before they even get a GREAT out of me.

I was an at home wife pregnant with my first child when I enrolled. I got a full PELL grant and started classes. I got my PELL return and passed my first class no problem.
However i started having pregnancy issues and had to drop my second class due to medical issues. I was assured it would not be a problem.
Now I'm trying to go to a local school having had my baby. GCU wants $3452 to get my transcripts!!!!!!!
So no i'm stuck trying to figure out how to take care of my newborn and somehow raise the money to pay them so I can start earning a REAL degree...
Thanks for ruining mine and my newborns life GCU, that's real christian.| Would You Recommend This School? | |

I had been wanting to go back to college for a while and when I begin my search I had the opportunity to speak with quite a few online Colleges. But to my surprize most of them were not offering my Major. When I did find colleges that was offering my area of study I found them not to be very interested in really hearing what I was looking for. They just wanted to sign me up and get me started.
Through GCU I am able to study in the area of my desire and also have a great staff of Counselors and Professors available there to help me with my present journey through higher learning. My teachers have made themselves available for me to not only communicate through email but also via telephone. I am able to interact with other classmates through class conference time and tutoring. I am also able to have one on one help.
I feel that GCU wants all of their students to be sucessful and I feel that they will go the extra mile to make sure you complete your journey. I love how the Financial Aid department works with those of us who are not finanically able to pay for our higher learning without help. My academic couselors have been great and I look forward to working with this staff.
Again I feel very blessed to be a "LOPE" even if I am just an online student. When I am asked what college I am attending I am always proud to say"GCU" the best college online today.

I went back to school for my BSN. GCU came to our hospital, promising the world, they said they would give us a 2000.00 discount, it is now almost a month after graduation and I have to call them everyday and I still have not seen it.
They also said they would transfer all my credits as a block transfer, which half into the program they went back on their word. Then lastly with two weeks left to graduate they decided not to take my CEU's and had a policy changed midstream. They did make good on this but it took me writing multiple letters all the way up to the University's president.
They don't return calls, out of the entire program I had 3 excellent teachers the others could care less! I'm telling you don't do it!!!!!
