Poor communication, excessively easy

I am on my 4th class within the MSIT program and here is my experience. Out of my 4 professors, only one of them has actually engaged the students, others took days to respond to emails (and sometimes didnt respond at all). Grading is a joke, Im pretty sure that every person in every class gets an A. I work very hard on my assignments, yet I see people blatantly ignore the directions and still get a B or an A on their assignments (they give you class grade statistics for every assignment, mean, median, mode averages and lowest grade). The work can be done in a matter of minutes (half the time the assignment is to write a paragraph about something).

Quite frankly, for $2000 a class, I am NOT getting a quality education. If you want a degree and dont want to work hard for it, this program is for you. If you actually want to work hard and learn, I suggest you go elsewhere.

I am one class away from graduating with an MS in Information Technology. As with any school, there are some very good instructors and some that are not as good. For the most part, my instructors have been top notch - very quick to respond to questions, and engage with the students effectively.

The video lectures which accompany the courses are available either online, or on VCD (included with the textbooks) so it is very convenient. The lectures cover the most important aspects of each class, but you must also read the books to get the full benefit. I found the message board and chat room interactions to be quite satisfying, and even though I have never met any of my classmates in person, I have formed some good friendships.

As with anything, the value of the degree is directly related to the amount of work that is put in. I will be very proud to get my degree, and I would recommend the program without hesitation.

As for the reviewer with an objection to using turnitin.com, I would hope that most would see the value of making sure that his or her words are not plagarised.

You will work for your degree!!!

I am three classes away from finishing my MBA degree. I can tell you that I worked for it. It is not an easy school, but I do not think it should be. The MBA program should be challenging and that is exactly what it is. I am glad that I selected this school. You get out what you put in. If you study and put in the time, you will learn. Some professors are more engaging than others; however, I never had a professor not respond. I had some that even held conference calls to make sure that the class was understanding the course and to answer any questions. I am glad that I am almost done. It will be good to have my weekends back. I spend approximately 16 to 20 hours a week working on school work. Also, this school has a great on-line library. You can access a lot of information and you can obtain help if needed. If you are looking for an easy MBA program, this is not it.

Good, Legitimate School

I am in my 2nd semester of pursuing an Accounting degree undergraduate with this school. I have had an overall positive experience. My advisor truly works closely with me and is there when I need her. I have read that others had bad experience, I guess its just the luck of the draw. For me, however, my experience has been overwhelmingly positive. As far as my experience goes, I have had no problems and everything has gone amazingly smooth. I love the courses, the lectures, the class setup and especially the study aids they give along with the books. Books may be expensive as most are, but they come with great study aids that have been essential to me. Example: in Biology class my new book came with an online login that totally prepared me for every test by giving me tests, interactive activities, etc. All of my professors have been knowledgable and responsive. I hate to sound like an informercial, but I really have had a great experience so far. Dont be afraid to try this school. Its a good accredited school with a solid reputation.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR MBA PROGRAM

I am in my second year of my MBA. Granted it is expensive, but it will be worth it in the end. I didn't want a five thousand dollar degree. The work is extensive but it is an MBA. I have had a great experience with the school, receiving books and most of the professors. All work is sent to turnitin.com because it is too easy to have students buy essays or papers or just cut a paste paragraphs from the internet. Only go here if you truly want to learn, if you just want the piece of paper then go to a degree mill and buy one. You get what you pay for. I highly recommend FIT for those who want to learn something.

Florida Tech MBA the truth

I am currently enrolled in the MBA program at Florida Tech Online. I have finished 3 courses and am on my fourth course.

Is it very easy? No. They have assignments and discussion assignments as well as exams and research papers. There is some work involved.

How is the teaching? bad. There is not much communication with the professors. They dont regularly respond to your questions and the text books are your only primary source of learning. If you need to know more you have to go online and search for information on the internet. The lectures are like 5 minutes long. So you dont get much from the lectures.

The text books for their first 2 courses were very good and thorough though the text books they have used for the following courses have lot of errors. Since the text books are your primary source of learning it creates a problem when they are lacking.

The first 2 courses: Essentials of Business 1 and 2 give you alot of information and you learn alot from the readings.

Here is the question I want to pose to you. Are you willing to pay 2500 dollars for a text book. Thats primarily what you get.

They dont make it easy for you to pass though. You have to go through all the exams and assignments.

What you get for 2500 dollars. Text book and assigned reading. Assignments and exams and other material you have to complete. 5 Minute Lectures. Occasional answers from professors and some feed back from professors though this varies from professor to professor. The first 2 courses in the program the professors are more involved and will give you a lot more feed back.

This is the situation so far. I dont know how it will progress as the program continues.

STAY AWAY!!!! NOT MILITARY FRIENDLY

Florida Tech describes itself as a military friendly school but they are NOT!!! I had a math class were you were just redirected to another site. The teacher assigned over 200 questions (most questions consisted of several questions)for HW each week. You would have to spend at least 20 hours a week to complete the HW assignments. Also the test were grated by the computer so if for example your answer was .5 and you wrote 1/2 it was wrong regardless of it being the same answer at the end of the day. The teacher was horrible, NO help what so ever. At the end I miss the C by one point. Tried a grade dispute... NOTHING. Tried to talk to someone higher NOTHING. They ended up telling me that it is a high failure rate course and I should take it in PERSON. I am in the military!!! I chose an online school so I could go to school online!!! This is a horrible place when they just set you up for failure!!! Mike

Good Online MBA Program

I'm not sure what the undergrad program is like, but I'm extremely happy with FIT for the MBA program I'm currently enrolled in. I'm learning a whole lot very quickly, and my professor seems knowledgeable and is extremely responsive. It is a lot of work but you should expect that from a graduate program. Don't into it thinking it will be an "easy" degree.

I feel sorry for those that had bad experience, but I have to disagree with them. I did my undergrad at University of Michigan so I feel I have a good benchmark for what a good school is. It's a good MBA program that won't send me into ridiculous debt like a tier 1 school would.

At this point in my career the $100K cost for an MBA from a tier 1 school wouldn't benefit me like it would have 6-7 yrs ago. Just something to consider as you look for programs. FIT is a great value - good education from a respected online program at a very reasonable cost.

My financial aid experience has been good as well. Very efficient & timely.

Subpar education, poor testing methods, go elsewhere

I just finished my first class, and it will be my last class. I had a introduction to information systems class. While it is an intro class, some of the questions were excessively easy (one question was "what is a virus?") Other questions made no sense, other questions had incorrect answers. Most questions were poorly worded and some even had spelling errors.I emailed the professor about one question, stating the answer was incorrect, I even pointed out what page in the book the information was on. The professor all but admitted he was wrong and refused to give credit for the question. Quite frankly this education is a joke, and is excessively expensive ($2000 a class). If you want a real education I suggest you go elsewhere.

I am finishing my third class with this "college", and if I had not already invested $6000 so far, I would drop this place like a bad habit. STAY AWAY! My VERY first class I was ripped off my University Alliance "counselor". I asked for the ISBN for the book for the class, my "counselor" John Gilliam, told me it was a "special" book that couldnt be purchased anywhere but through University Alliance. So I believed him and spent $200 on a book. When I received the book in the mail, I checked the ISBN and found it on Amazon for $60! I called customer service (which didnt pick up the link the first 5 times I called) only to be told that John's manager was "out". These people are SCAM ARTISTS!! STAY AWAY!! Go somewhere else, anywhere else is better than this place!!

I am currently enrolled in the Masters program for Information Systems and will graduate this Spring. I have found my entire experience with Florida Institute of Technology and the University Alliance to be very positive. You are expected to put forth effort, but I believe that anyone in any Graduate degree program should expect to put forth effort. I am surprised by the reviewers who are upset by requirements of submitting their work into a plagiarism tool. If you did not plagairize you need not be concerned. I recommend FIT to anyone who is truly wanting an education and is willing to work for it!

I am currently enrolled in a masters programs at FIT and I couldn't be happier with my choice. The course load can be challenging, but the instructors, that I have had, have been quite helpful and accommodating.

Thankfully, I have not dealt with the issues that my fellow reviewers have experienced. I hope they seek and obtain a resolution to their problems. The admissions and enrollment counselors have gone above and beyond my expectations as well. They may want to start there.

The reviews on here are very ignorant

My professors are very educated in the courses they are instructing. They always respond quickly with your correspondence, and do not accept poor work, like most nationally accredited online colleges. There is a heavy work load, however, this can only contribute to more knowledge. My adviser is very helpful as well. To anyone reading these reviews: Just read the grammar of some the people who've posted, and that should give you some insight...

Tammy probably get paid by University Alliance. The instructor I'm having here, is incompetent. He has a Ph.D. but on a different subject(discipline), that is not related with the class he's teaching (e.g. PhD in geography, teaching IT security). Instructor knows no better than the online students, based on very poor(lack) of communication. When students ask further questions about the subject, normally it's ignored, until another week passed by, and forgotten. Not much activity in this class. Out of 8 classes I took, only 2 instructors match the videos. If you don't like this education, you have the option to be kicked out, right in the middle of degree. The classes are not transferrable to other universities as no one would take it. I'm victimized.

Professor is not the person on the video!!!

In the Florida Tech Online / University Alliance scam demo, there's a video of a professor lecturing. But that's not what you get. The ones on the video called "original professors", but the ones you get are not the one you see on the video. And yes, they're not experienced (novice) type of professors. Feel cheated!!!

You have to want it!

You have to use turnitin to stop plagerism period. Any online school will use a program like this if they are worth going to. Yes the class load is hard sometimes but I would say no more so than going to a campus. If you want easy go to a degree mill, if you want to learn from a good ranking school this is it. My major is CIS and I feel my professors are doing a great job and know what they are doing. I get email as well as message board feedback right away. If I have a question I can contact them for chat. After books and classes my charges are aprox 1300 per term. I believe its around 460 per credit hour. Be prepared to work and learn, that is if you want it bad enough!

At first the online university sales lured me to enter, but ONCE you get in, they provided us with low quality professors that knows NOTHING about their subject. Well, not all professors, but about 50% or so. They just want your money. Not only that, the faculty people have attitudes to treat online students like a tyran/dictator. Once you get in and in the middle of the way to get your degree (after paying thousands of dollars of tuition), they easily told you get out if you don't like their courses (of course there's no refund here). I wish theyd go to h***.

BIGGEST NIGHTMARE of my life

I called for information last spring saying I was interested in enrolling for fall. I was pushed and prodded to enroll right away. I was told most of my credits from ECU would transfer "no problem" - to go ahead and get started with the required courses and then all that business would be worked out. NONE of my credits transferred - NOT ONE of my 86 credits transferred. Then I was told if I wanted to appeal that I would have to write the school on each course taken and provide a comparison from the course catalog of both schools myself. I thought that was what the transfer review office was suppose to do. That's what I was told in the beginning. THEN - one of the two courses I was enrolled in had NO INSTRUCTOR for the first week. We were all freaking out not know what we suppose to be doing and not hainv gany idea that the instructor had quit. AND the other course I had requested to test out of but was refused that option - think that was totally money driven. And then to take that course I was told I needed software I didn't have and that would cost me over $200. THEN when my computer crashed I called but I couldn't get them to let me drop the courses via phone. Now they are trying to get money out of me that I refuse to pay. I learned nothing other than Florida Tech Online and University Alliance is a BIG SCAM. Beware.

In accounting classes we have to write an essay every week to post on the message board and it was graded. They give excessive homework in accounting every week. All their instructors are contracted out from other schools. If you have 25-40 hours a week to study for just one class, it is a good school, otherwise find another on-line school. I will say this good thing about this school:They are ranked one of the best university in the country according to US News and World Report.

Beware.

This school is sneaky. I have recently withdrawn from this school because there are hidden legal issues. For example, I dropped from the school because I was scheduled to take a literature course. After signing up a paying for the course, I found that all paperwork had to be turned it turnitin. com. This may not be a big issue for some of you, but I do not like having to release my legal rights to the papers I create and that is exactly what turnitin. com requires. This 'college' does not inform you of this up front and it is nowhere in the student manual. Stay away!!!
