I don't know what school all of these other reviews are talking about, but these negative reviews do not match the school I attended. I graduated from Everest College Phoenix Online with an honors degree in October 2010. The textbooks always matched my classes, I never had any problems with the online work, and my student advisors were always great.
Here are a few things to remember: The instructors/professors always tell the students to check the syllabus to make sure you have the correct books. If you do not, then you need to talk to your student advisor immediately. The school was (or is) on probation, but the school let all the students know this at the time. Also, regarding financial aid; if you do not mark on the paperwork that you want any overrages sent directly to you, then the overrages are credited back to your loan. A typical associates degree will cost you around $30,000, and yes you can attend a community college for a lot less. There are community colleges though, that employers will also not recognize because it is not a quality education.
Anyone looking to go to any college needs to do their research. I researched over 10 online schools before choosing Everest, and I am glad that I did! Everest is a great school, and I even got to walk for my graduation at an Everest campus college nearby. I was very excited to do that!
Just remember: you get out of your education what you put into it. I have a husband and three young children, and I studied approximately 12 hours every week to be successful (would have studied longer if I had the time). Also, when it comes to transferring credits from one college to another, there are many colleges who promise that all or most credits will transfer just to find out after you transfer that this was not true. This goes for any college both campus and online, no matter what the prestige of the school.
I landed a job in my career field while I was still in school, and everything that I was learning directly played into my job.
I had no major problems attaining my degree with Everest College, and recommend this school to anyone who is looking to go to school online. If you think that you are never going to have any problems at all when attending any school, then you are misleading yourself. Life is full of irritants and stresses, and going to college is no different. Also, people need to keep in mind that not all subjects are suitable to be taken online. There are some degrees that are only beneficial to be taken by a college that offers hands-on learning in a 'lab' atmosphere. It just doesn't make sense to take some subjects in an online forum.
I cannot stress enough the importance of research, research, research! There are many things that need to be considered and researched before settling on a school.
Good luck! I give Everest Online an overall score of 7 out of 10 for a quality education.
