Shop around before going to Everest,

I read all of the comments, my experience with Everest was not that great. 1. They will hunt you down and call you everyday to make sure all your paperwork for finicial aid is complete. 2.It took several weeks for my books to arrive, I was pleased that they put the chapters online for you to read. 3. I was promised a laptop for my classes as long as I was enrolled in the school, and was told I could keep it as a gift when I completed my degree. Well, it's strange that I never received a laptop, even after making several calls to my advisors. Seems like nobody knew what the other person was doing. 4. At midterm I get a voicemail telling me that I could be doing a lot better, I felt that was unprofessional considering that I was taking three classes and at midterm I had a grade of a B, in one class and two A's in the other classes. 5. Still no computer, and no one returns your calls. 6. I completed all three classes and have a GPA. over 3.33, I was sent a email to sign up for 3 more classes, I kindly told them that I wouldn't be signing up again ever, due to lack of communication with the staff. 7. Three classes we over 14,000, close to 15,000 which is to expensive for the service you get. 8. I had some good professors and had a great group of class mates. The homework was fair and the grading scale was good. I got my report card and was happy to end with a final grade of two B's and one A. 8. Tell me why I get a call from the collection agency for Everest telling me that I owe $142 for dropping a class? I signed up for 3 classes and completed 3 classes. 9. Of course no one can tell me why I owe the money, after calling and still waiting on someone to look into it and call me back. 10. When it comes to getting their money they are so sweet and nice, but when it comes to handling your issues they act like they don't even care. They hold your hand and walk with you the whole process of being enrolled. I finally got a call almost three weeks later asking me why I wasn't returning because they didn't want to loose a good student. I told the nice advisor about my concerns and I was done with Everest.

They have a lack of problem solving, and I wouldn't suggest this school to anyone. I'm sure my credits won't transfer from what everyone else saying in their review.

I have a comment for all the people who are writing bad reviews. Learn to spell and learn to write! Maybe, just maybe, you have a bad experience with college because you have not learned how to write! If you want readers to respect your review, please go back to basic English! Wow!

Nationally V. Regionally and more.

The difference between a nationally and regionally accredited school is that with nationally they are career based. Harvard Law is nationally accredited, it is a specialty field.

Regionally accredited schools are theory based. You will take a lot more classes that do not pertain to the degree of study.

Whenever researching a school, you will want to go to the below site to make sure the school is accredited.

As far as transferring credits, it is ALWAYS up to the school you decided to go to, to accept the credits. Never let any school say, "Yes that school will accept our credits."

Furthermore, Any school that has a paralegal degree, in order to be ABA approved, the have to have a physical law library on the ground.

Research the school you want to end up at for credits to be transferred to before enrolling somewhere getting the degree to find out the law school will not accept the credits. For instance, going to Everest, after your bachelor's degree where do you want to go? Wherever that is, make sure they accept credits from the first school.

I also want to reiterate the fact that many employers are wanting people to have a degree from an online accredited school because they are realizing that the student is not a procrastinator. Secondly, they don't have to be babysat on the job to get the production done. Third, they are looking at how many classes you take in that particular degree field. Last, the student is self disciplined.

Finanicaia Aid

The classes went well, I only had one instructor that was rude, and I would never want to have again. THe work load was fair, grading was fair, my student services advisor was awesome. Financial Aid is inefficient. I was allowed to carry a very large balance for months, and no one said anything. I had the balance, and still received official transcripts. They do not keep track of records. All of a sudden, 24 weeks before graduation I get a call from student finance saying I have a large balance because I did not fill out the fafsa for last year. I have the email confirmation for the fafsa they say I never completed. No one calls me back, and it is very rude. I even left a message with the Regional Fianancial Aid Manager, and she never called me back. It is pathetic. I wish I never enrolled at this school.

Something isn't right with Everest University Online/Campus-Based.

To Bryan, unfortunately Dallie is correct. I to had the problem of transferring my credits to a university, the academic advisors at Nova Southeastern University, Florida Atlantic University, Florida Gulf Coast University, University of Tampa, Barry University, and Broward College(formerly Broward Community College) all told me the same thing. Sorry I didn't mention this earlier I was enrolled in the Paralegal program at Everest. For one the Paralegal progrm MUST BE APPROVED BY ABA(American Bar Association) and if it isn't you will have problems finding work in your field. I did three years there and it didn't mean a thing to top universitities I've chosen. It must satisfy the Florida something number in order to be accepted. For instance if you've completed ENC1101 @ EU and went to another college they might accept it,but if you did PLA2800(Family Law) @ EU and went to a different college it's not classified as that. it's LEG3550. Please do your homework before enrolling into any online or campus college/university. Make sure it's REGIONALLY accredited not NATIONAL(I don't know why people think this is better)If you live in FL, GA, AL, MS, NC, SC, LA, KY, TX, and VA it's accredited by SACS; New York, Pennsylvania,Maryland, DC, New Jersey,Delaware, and Puerto Rico are accredited by MSCHE; Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Rhode Island are accredited by NEASC; Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming, including tribal institutions, are accredited by NCAhigherlearningcommision; California, Hawaii, the United States territories of Guam and American Samoa, the Republic of Palau, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the Republic of the Marshall Islands, are accredited by WASCWEB. All the accrediting bodies I just listed are REGIONAL. On the other hand Everest University is National their accrediting body is ACICS. So please get ya story together. Very few Nationally accredited universities are good, but, you must do your Homework.

only 2 problems

I have been with Everest for about 2 years now. I can only tell you of my experiences with Everest compared to University of Phoenix. I earned my associate's degree at UoP but transferred for my bachelor's degree.

Both schools require teamwork. However, UoP's team assignments were based on all team participation. If someone didn't do their part, everyone's grade was affected. My husband was already enrolled with Everest so he told me how the teamwork there works. Everest's teamwork is based on individual participation. So it doesn't matter if someone doesn't do their part; you're grade is based on the work you do.

Throughout my time with Everest, I've only had 2 problems. Both of these problems were with professors who thought they could pull the wool over my eyes, so to speak. However, I was able to work them successfully with the help of my student advisor and student services.

Depending upon your financial status, you can take 2 classes or more per semester. 2 classes is considered full-time. Each semester is 12 weeks and the classes are broken down into 6, 2 week units. You have to meet participation and attendance each week. That means you can't do all of your work for the unit in 1 week and post it. You still have to post something during the second week of the unit.

The one drawback of schools like Everest is that their programs will only transfer to another school like it. For instance, I can't transfer my credits to University of Maryland because they wouldn't be accepted. It's just an accreditation thing. The institutions are accredited differently so their programs don't match.

Over all, I would recommend Everest to anyone who's looking into to going to school online. The classrooms are user-friendly and the requirements are straight-forward. I'm getting ready to graduate with my B.S. and just scheduled my classes for my MBA. So, they must be doing something right.

There have been many reviews about the school because of misunderstandings in the past. I have went to school there for 3 years and it is a great school. I have no complaints. I will be graduating this year with my associates and they were really helpful when I needed them. I am the type of person that if I do not think something is good, I would not recomend it because I wouldnt want someone else to have a bad experience. All I can tell you guys, is jump in feet first.

It has been a long 4 years for me. I had a hard time with Everest in my 3 year. What I don't like about the college is that they change staff like changing underwear. The courses they offer you cannot beat. I was on the verge of qutiing and was talking to another college about transfering. subsequent, I was 6 months to finish with Everest so, I decided to tough it out. Now! I graduate July 02, thank God!!! If you decide to go, stay on top of things because 3 months down the line you might have a new advisor and want know it. Their courses are well worthty the try. keep in touch, and if you decide to go with Everest let me know and I can get you the hook up.

I have graduated from Everest College Online in 2007 with an Associate in CJ, and I have had a very good experience with this school. Not only do I value the program but it also gave me the chance to start a new career(where I had no previous job experience in the field), and I was able to transfer all my credits to another school to earn a BA in Legal Studies. I think that all schools have their problems, and positive and negative reviews will be based on the personal experience of everyone!

GREAT SCHOOL

The staff was very helpful from the start to end. I received my MBA online and it has helped me advance my possition within the company! The whole deal with credits not transfering isn't all true. NOT ONE college can garantee that your credits will transfer to another university. It is all up to the receiving college. I did transfer a lot of my undergraduate classes into the school before I moved on the the MBA program without a problem. The education has really improved my life all around!

Paralegal Major

I have been going to Everest University (Tampa Campus) since October 2006, and the truth is that you are going to get out of it what you put into it- whether you go to a regionally or nationally accredited school.

My cousin graduated from Hillsborough Community College with her degree in Mass Communications, and is currently selling insurance. I am currently working as a Legal Assistant, and have been since July 2007 (less than a year after I started the program). I do voluntary work as a legal assistant as well for Saint Michael's Legal Center (which was recognized on the Fox 13 news).

I can't speak for all the programs, but I am very satisfied with the education I am receiving. I graduate in July and then I will be sitting for the NALA exam to become a registered Legal Assistant. A few of my friends that have already received their Bachelor's from Everest are currently sitting for the LSAT exam. It's a shame people speak so badly about Everest. It has really boosted my marketability as a Legal Assistant.

If you are looking to attend this school or any school, realize a career isn't going to go looking for you just because you're receiving the education. You have to go out there and get it!

It makes me upset that people think just because SOME credits do not transfer to other schools that the school is no good. Everest University is EXACTLY like ANY other school. No school can guarantee credit transfers. It always depends on what the receiving school will or will not take. Most schools will NOT take all your credits because they want to make money. Also, if you transfer credits from a business major and you go into a computer major at another school, obviously all the credits will not transfer.

My friend went to Everest University Online and used his MBA from Everest to get a job making over 80,000 a year. It is a good school. Everest University is accredited through ACICS and is recognized by the counsel for higher education accreditation and the department of education.

Paralegal

I started Everest University 3 weeks ago for paralegal dispite what I heard about the schhol. It was so much easier for me being that I am a single mother of 3 kids. I started to check out reviews for the school yet I couldnt find any because the name changed from FMU to Everest(maybe cause the FMU reviews from former students were not many positive ones).

When I met with the Adminisrative Officer to talk about the school I asked all the right questions "is this an accredited school? If I wanted to further my education to another school are the credits transferrable? Are the classes the same as Valencia or UCF?" And I got all the answers I wanted to hear. They straight up lied to me by not telling me the WHOLE truth. After I researched it by calling other colleges I stood to be correct.

In order for any credits to be transfered from/to a regional or national accrediting school courses must be offered, have the same prefix and LAST 3 digits. Which says so on The Florida State Board of Education Florida Staute Section 1007.24(6) as a matter of fact was given to me by Everest University themselves. Of course I found that part on my own.(Not sure if they thought I was an idiot to not read the entire Memo and Staute).

I compared the courses from Everest and Valencia and WOW from about 20 something classes only 7 would be able to be transferred. I am in the process of withdrawing from Everest University and enrolling to Valencia Community College which may take a little longer, yet I wont have wasted my time, money and will have a lot more options for furthering my education.

I saved money (over 10,000.00)I saved 2 years of my life, I saved being discouraged from having to start over again, I saved a lot and it means that much to me due to the fact that Im 30 and a mother of 3. I dont have time nor money to waste. Be carefull, Good Luck and God Bless
