A truthful expirience

Ok. I know that there are a bunch of reviews on here with everyone comoplaining and whining about their expirience but i can tell you now. This is the best time i have ever had. i hear all the time, even in class about how everyone thinks this is boring or stupid or something like that. all i have to say about everyone who is complaining is SHUT UP! No one forced you to attend this school. If you diddnt like it, it is not hard to go to the dean and say "i would like to withdraw" and thats it. it is expensive because it is a CAREER COLLEGE. I am sick and tired of people putting down a school or university because "they diddnt help me enough" grow up and take some responsibility. I love attending Everest and would reccomend it to anyone who was looking to attend school.

10 Reasons Not To Go To Everest University Online

1. For Profit- Expensive- 38,000 for an AA Degree!

2. National Accreditation- credits will not transfer to a REAL school

3. Admissions makes big money for your attendance

4. Advisors will "trick" you into staying and not quitting because it affects their attrition! They cannot have a certain amount of drops...

5. The Teachers are all Adjunct professors who don't even offer their telephone numbers to students.

6. The graduation rate is about 5%!

7. They say they find jobs for93% of their students, but most students have jobs when they start.

8. Its pure Capitalism...against GOD.

9. They will call you until you participate so they can take your money.

10. They will not let you drop when you want to. Go to STATE SCHOOL NOT EVEREST ONLINE. ITS A BUSINESS NOT A UNIVERSITY!

I've only been in Everest University for about a month and i have already regretted going. I've decided to transfer to another college. The school just seems to be after the money and the teachers don't help when they are suppose to. I know someone who joined and after a few months she transferred to an actual college. If you are looking into this school DON'T. This "school" is totally not worth the time or the money.

I thought I was doing the right thing when I joined Everest University! YEAH RIGHT! I want to withdraw from the school and I can't even get them to answer the phone TO DO IT. I am also afraid of getting someone who doesn't know my case because half of the people there DON'T KNOW WHAT THEIR DOING. Also you better WATCH OUT because some of the "advisors" will bully you! This school is a joke, it's a WASTE of money! The team work section is HORRIBLE, no one wants to do the work and the teachers are OF NO HELP! So if I can actually get someone to answer the phone tomorrow I will be withdrawn and continue on to a new school! BY ALL MEANS DON'T GO HERE!!!

I just completed my associate's degree with this school. My degree totaled around $38,000, and this is not even a regionally accredited school!! All of my grant money was used by the school, what I received in refunds for the entire degree is what I have received in ONE SEMESTER at my new school, which IS regionally accreditted. A couple weeks before graduation, I called to pay my $35 graduation fee. I was informed at that time that I had a balance with the school of almost $500. I asked why I had not been informed of this, so I could make arrangements prior to graduation, and he said "I am informing you now." So I paid the almost $500 balance, and now I get a call from the school saying I still owe them $35! Never-ending money pit, and the education isn't the greatest either!

BEST CAREER COLLEGE

People, you have to understand that Everest University Online is a CAREER college. It is not for everyone, it is for those who want a career in a specific field when they graduate. Also, it is for those who don't want to or can't attend a ground campus. Many women with small children attend because of the convenience. The people writing bad reviews write them because they are unhappy with their OWN performance, not Everest. Just because you (out of 20,000 students) didn't get your books on time does not make this a BAD school. If you can't find a job when you are done, maybe you should take a look at yourself. There could be a reason. When you look at the reviews you can look at some of the best colleges around and find SOMEONE who has something negative to say about the school. Is it expensive? YES!! But and education is expensive. What is nice about Everest is that 70% of your classes are directly related to the major you are taking VERSUS your community college which is 70% general education classes you will never use and an AA at a community college will get you NOWHERE, versus an AS (Associates of Science) at Everest in say Paralegal, Accounting, Medical Billing and Coding or Business will get you a job. Stop listening to the negative people, who are disappointed in themselves for not doing well and can only find the internet as an outlet to bad mouth their school.

This school charges through the nose for tuition. They charged me $400 a credit hour and each class is 4 credit hours. $1600 a CLASS!! Is this Notre Dame?! Harvard?!

I spent 2 full semesters attending Everest Online toward an Associates Degree. 5 straight "A's". I certainly do not think these classes are/were educationally worth 4 credit hours. As far as i'm concerned, it's just a way to increase tuition.

Want to transfer credits from Everest? Good luck! Everything I have read says you are going to have a big problem trying to do that. I intend to try it with one of my local schools just to see what would be accepted, if anything.

Everest has a problem with student plagiarism. I reported several acts of plagiarism while I attended, which is certainly my right considering what the cost was. When a student has to point out to an instructor that another student has copy and pasted, there certainly is a problem somewhere.

Everest places students who can't read, write, and comprehend English very well in classes with students who can. Everest expects them to be able to interact online with each other. It does not work. I found myself hard pressed to understand alot of what my classmates were trying to say.

Another problem is students use the online format as a platform/soapbox to spout off about their religous beliefs. They use their religion as a cure-all for everything, including assignments. They try to push it upon other students. I did not enroll in school to be preached to.

As far as the instructors go, I only had one instructor that really didn't do much as far as participation goes in a class and I let her know about it.

The bottom line is Everest Online is way over priced, the education is over credited for what you get, the credits are questionable as far as transferability. They need to address the plagiarism problems openly and the students who want to push their religion on other students and show that it's being handled.

They don't post final grades of fellow students/classmates. You don't know if the school is just looking the other way and passing people to obtain their loan and/or grant money.

This is my experience at Everest. The fist day that I came there they fired the teacher who was supposed to teach us. So after that we had about 6 or 7 teachers. At that time I was attending night class. The teaches that I had was nice and everything. But when I found a part time job I had to switch to day time classes. It was terrible! The teacher didn't teach, the students were playing around like kids, teacher was not mature, the school was not clean, the whole thing was a disaster. I am sorry to tell people that I went to this school. Even my friend who found a job with the Everest Diploma she is making 7.50 on hr. These things are not OK. For 15,000 I deserve much more.

Everest is not worth the money at all. I feel sorry for my self now that I know what this school ls all about. Maybe Everest could be a better school. But its not a good one! You are much better off on going to some other school. If you are reading this..Please Feel My Pain..and What I went through. Its real. Get your degree from some where else. But don't get a Diploma from this school.

Everest is a waste of money and time! Do Not Go.

When I started Everest from the first day it was a disaster. The students were complaining about the school and they were not happy. I thought I would be able to learn a lot and have good teachers but I didn't. I had good and bad teachers. The ones that were good they all left. Everest hires teachers that don't teach. They don't do their job. Everest can tell you what they want to. But the School is not good. I can honestly say that. I was told that I was supposed to go out there and look for a job. They don't help you with the job search. Its a waste of time and money. Go to any other school, but don't go to this one. You wont experience good things with Everest. You will end up with no job! and No money.

I am not even a student yet but I just got off the phone with the school and they basically told me I couldn't change my mind about attending. She told me by signing the "estimate" that I was obligated to attend and I would be charged for books and classes anyway. The problem with this school is they rush you through so quick...you get like 10 e-mails a day rushing you through the process. I signed one estimate and before you know it I'm enrolled in classes, I have books being shipped out and I have financial-aid...all in a matter of days!!! Any reputable school will not hasten a process like this. No verification of my high school diploma!I didn't even fill out the FAFSA information but I'm obligated? Very strange experience, now I'm just afraid that I'm going to look on my credit report in 3 months and see something negative with Everest written on top. Listen to the negative responses!!! There is something not right here.

I have attended Everest on and off since 2001, somtimes life just can't stay out of the way of your education. At Everest they understand this and always work with you to find the best solution for you at that time. It may have taken me twice as long but I will have my BS by July this year. However if you so choose to accelerate your education you can achieve an AS in as little as 18 months, I have had friends who did this. My only problem with the online curriculum is that I am not disciplined enough to keep up with it, it is a lot of work and very challenging. I like that they are innovative and stay current with the always changing environment of the business world. Sometimes it is difficult to get the classes you need when you need them, but they can only schedule classes that they have the staff available to intruct at any given time. I had switched to Everest from community college because I was looking for more structure in the way the school operates to guide you through your courses and the process of choosing classes. While attending comm. coll. I felt that no one really cared if I was achieving my goals or even taking classes that pertained to my degree major, you could pretty much register for anything that you want to take at a comm. coll. I took ridiculus classes like pottery and wasted a lot of time fooling around while at HCC. I definitely was a person in need of guidance that a comm. coll. could not offer. I've seen a lot of complaints about the cost of tuition and will admit that it is more expensive than a community college or state university, however you must bare in mind that this is private school and if cost is an issue for you, then you have the freedom of choice not to attend. There is no way that its possible for 3 classes to cost more than $15000.00, that claim is totally bogus. In reality 3 classes and books and online fees might run about $5500.00. I have only been able to take 2 classes a quarter because they understand that I can not afford an out of pocket expense, so they are willing to work with only the FA I that I do receive and typically stretch it all out over 3 quarters. I rarely have any problems with the staff, and if a regular student advisor is not available to help me the Dean of Academics' door is always open and they incourage students to stop by and visit him even if its just to update on your progress. Its not everywhere that you can just walk into your dean's office just to have a casual conversation and no appointment necessary. They really get to know their students on a first name basis, and are always willing to provide students with a support network for any issue that may arise in a students life outside of school. Overall I have far more good experiences with this school than I have bad ones, and this is coming from a person who really hates going to school.

I have been attending Everest since April 2008 for a degree in MIBC. They walked me through the whole process of enrollment, and even stayed on the phone with me while I filled out my FAFSA. The only problem I have had is that I got a new student adviser right before my second term. It was seamless, and I was still enrolled in the classes I chose, I just liked the old one better. That is not to say, however, that there is anything wrong with my current adviser.

For me, online college was the only option. I have 2 kids at home, and no intentions of putting them in daycare so I can go to school. Yes, it costs more than a campus education, but it saves you the hassle of schedules and commuting (not to mention the money saved on sitters and gas). At the beginning of each week, I look to see what will be due that Saturday. I'm typically done with it by Tuesday and don't have to worry about it. There are class discussions and teamwork, as well. I'm very shy and would never be able to do these things in person, but being online makes all the difference.

Everyone I have dealt with has been especially kind and patient. Even when there was an error on my FAFSA that wasn't caught until after I started classes, they worked with me (at 9pm after the kids were in bed) to get things done. My classes were never interrupted.

There was one issue with an exam. There were 2 answers that were correct for the question, and were both in the textbook. I was marked wrong for my answer. I emailed the instructor and she quickly changed my grade and informed the university that the exam needed to be amended.

I would absolutely recommend Everest to anyone interested. Not all credits may be transferred, but this is true at any college or university.

I would not recommend Everest to anyone! I started in the Nov 2009 - Mini Term with two courses. My books arrived 3 weeks into a 6 week session (only after calling every day to complain about it.) One of my classes was actually okay and the staff did their job. The other class was taught by a nurse (an Accounting class) that stated in her bio "I am here for fun and will be here in my free time." At first this did not bother me, but it soon did. This professor (Jennifer Whitley) did absolutely nothing the entire class! We had teamwork assignments each week and out of the 6 people in my team, 2 of us participated and had to pull the weight of the others. When I reported this to the professor, her response was "I'm sorry it worked out for you that way. Better luck next time." Financial Aid? That is a joke at this school. I had to speak to someone regarding my account balance (which is not available online, you have to call to ask about it) and I could not understand her english. She just kept saying it's coming "one of these days." As far as transferability of the credits is concerned. Someone here posted that just because another school will not accept the credits does not mean the school is bad. You are correct, however, if the school is not regionally accredited, you can be 99% sure that they will not be taken anywhere other than another nationally accredited school (which is primarily the for-profit schools.) At a rate of almost $500 per credit hour, this was not worth it at all. You can attend a state funded school for much less and have regionally accredited hours that will transfer easier.

I have been an Everest Student for the past 2 and a half years online. I find this school to be great and I would recommend Everest to everyone. The Staff has been great, and I had no problems in any department from Financial Aid the help desk. All the Professors are excellent and I have learned so much from the Criminal Investigation Program. I graduate this month coming 2010 and I will miss this school. I'm thinking about further educating my career and this school will be my first choice if I do so. There no negative aspect of this school and anyone who thinks so needs to get a grip.

I have been attending this school for a year and when it comes to the basics they are ok. But I have been waiting for months for them to send me a residual check. Firstly they lost my financial aid information then they sent the funds back to the lender!

I had signed saying I wanted it sent to me but the financial aid department didn't review that part. I have been on the phone with them everyday for 26 days straight now. I am still waiting because of the inproper staff can't get anything right. They have blamed it on the coporate office but then the coporate office says it the campus' fault. They tell me something different every time I call. One day they said the refund was being mailed out then a couple days later I called again and they didn't know anything about it!

This school is good except for when it comes to the paper work. And we will be making payments for the rest of our life because it is so expensive. They don't know anything everytime I speak to them they either play dumb or they really are. I hate this school and just want to hurry up and finish so I never have to speak to these idiots again.

Big Rip Off and Low Value Degree

Let me first say that this school really charges a lot of money for their tuition. As an Associate Degree student paying residential priced tuition, I ended up with a $10,000 bill after taking about 7 classes. The books are about $200 each and registering for classes is an even bigger headache. They don't give you any real freedom to choose the classes you want to take for a particular semester and you need about four different signatures from different department heads on your registration form.

Finally, the degree is nationally accredited which isn't so great. This is where most people get confused. Let me tell you that regionally accredited is far better than nationally accredited. Even going to a community college is better than Everest because they are usually regionally accredited institutions. Now a lot of employers might not investigate the accreditation but when it comes to transfering credits, you will almost always have better luck transfering regionally accredited credits. I received my associates degree from Daytona State and it only cost me $8000 for 20 classes. If I were to get that at Everest I would be looking at a $20,000+ tuition bill.

You need to do your research!

I received my AS in Business from EU and landed a job soon after making over $50k/yr. That was 2 years ago... now I am near completion of my BBA and making better money and have a more stable financial and future front.

My credits were able to transfer... ALL of them transfered and gave me the ability to achieve my BBA. Working at universities taught me one thing... and that is that NOT every school will take all of your credits. For many reasons such as they need a source of income in order to survive as well as many private universities.

Private universities do not receive any sort of extra state funding; it is all received by tuition. Now do that math... if you qualify for financial aid then a good percentile of your tuition paid is covered by grants. The remaining is covered by stafford loans. Those are not to be paid back till 6 months after you graduate. Again, I've worked for universities and also been a student to a few including EU.

Regionally and Nationally accredited schools are only different in terms of course and program offerings. National schools are CAREER FOCUSED. Regional ones focus on more GENERAL EDUCATION.

Now let me get to the most important part for me... MANY employers look for educated individuals that have their bachelors degree. A great majority of them do not even look at what school you received it from... only that you have one. Now of course there are some locations that prefer an ABA approved school. But when you consider all the courses offered they are very similar in study.

Now my question is this... why would you want to start attending one school to try and transfer to an other school? Now that makes no sense... now if your having a difficult time I can understand that but when you transfer to an other school you do not receive much in FA when you bounce from school to school. TRUST ME! Well EUOL is a great school and their goals is to ensure the success of every student by achieving their degrees. Regardless if you attend EU or USF or UT they are all going to be expensive. It's all a debt... UT in Tampa is WAY MORE HIGHER in tuition then any other school.

So again do your homework and truly think about it... School is school and we are trying to learn and earn our degree. If you want something cheap and that will take you years then see a community college. My cousin and friends been attending for the last 7 or 8 years to complete their AS or AA. So again think about it... good luck

I think that this school is very good. and after reading everyone else's opinions and views I too love the teamwork at everest university because even if everyone dosen't participate you still recieve afull grade.

I think the staff is excellent including my student advisor Ms. Shewman, and she is great because she keeps all her students advised of her days off, who you can contact on her days off, and answer any question you have and if she can't she'll pass you down to the appropiate person for that particular question.

Financial aid is great because even though I lost my job in March of 2009 I thought i may have money difficulties but by speaking with a financial aid rep they advised me that i could apply for additional loans and have money in my pockets to pay off school expenses and still have money in my pocket even thou majority of it i have to pay back. But still a blessing for me as a single mom loosing my job and needing money.

so i would definetley advise people for this particular school and tho i know i have to pay money back it's all worth it becasue no matter what college or university you go to you still have to pay back loans, but at least i will have my degree from people who care. Thanks everest online.

I don't know what school everyone else is talking negative about, but it's not Everest. I have been going for my Associates for the past year and I have NOT had a SINGLE problem. The work load is perfect, not to much not to little. As with any other school you only get what you put into it.

The team work is great, it dosen't matter if you and one other person does the work yourself, you get the grade based upon what YOU did, not as everyone a whole.

I did have a situation with one professor where he was kinda of rude, but you get that at every school, not everyone is going to like every professor. I think they grade very equally, they let you know what's going on and what you did wrong. They are very picky about spelling and the APA format. Which I agree they should be because you are attending college, not highschool.

Everyone I've talked to has got back to me in a reasonable amout of time, like within 48 hours if I don't speak to them the first time I call or e-mail. They do switch up employees a bit, but it has never been a problem with me.

I use to go to university of phoneix and I'm telling you I love the university so much more!!!!! So if you are considering Everest University Online go for it I love it and it's been the best decision I've made this far!!!

Plz don't attend Everest University online at all I made the huge mistake of leaving another online college to attend this school and believe me when I tell you that has been the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life. If you're ever having to contact anyone with a question or a problem such as any advisors you may have whether it be academic, financial whom ever they are never there to answer their phone calls or emails. But when ever they need you for something they're hunting you down like you're a criminal. This school is truly a joke and I don't see myself attending much longer cause I truly don't have time for this at all.

For any one thinking of attending an online school, please do not let Everest be your number one choice. Me and a few more other classmates are attending Everst Online and I tell you we all agree that It is a lesson learned for sure. The staff is un-organized completely. When you first talk to the representors, every one will seem very nice and make the school sound wonderful, it is not!!!!

Financial aid is always having problems. They do not answer the phone when they are having too many calls at once (I know this because it was on one of the financial aid and refunds department..Voicemail). When you are taking your classes, the instructors will give you work that you will really have to read about and study (this is a good thing) but some of the students are extremely clueless and this is not good.... the fact that you do have to participate in teamwork in each course you take. (Most likely it will only be just you or you and 1 other person working on assignments).

This school is just a mess. It is the Orlando South Location. Trust me, find a better school, and cheaper school. Everest cost more than most schools for it to be soooooo GHETTO and un organized.
