I went to DeVry Years ago for Engineering. I had ups and downs in that progam mainly because of my study habits but also because of the teachers I encountered.
These teachers had a group amongst themselfves judging and agreeing who was woth helping and who was not. Sound malicious don't it?
They had a strategy to control who could go far in there program unde these teachers. One way was for the teachers to choose books that a student identify with in reguards to what the teacher taught. that way a student could easily get lost if the teacher did not give the extra help needed to understand the lesson and go forward. Nightmarish!
I observed this heavily while in that program. it was hard not to be helped and to pay so much money for the classes just to be robbed of a dream that was suppose to be a goal.
After 3 semesters with this type of stuff going on i had to dropp out. It hurt!!! The world just lost it's best engineer (I always told myself that).
I reported my theory's about this type of evil plot of judgement calls on students these teachers felt not worthy to get their full help to progess.
So just to say for those who's been do good or bad at Devry i am here to tell the truth. THIS STUFF HAPPENS!
Some complainers are just complaining but consider that some are legit. This is a evil, selfish, malicous world. Nothing is perfect!
Now to finish my positive side of this story.
I am now back at Devry after a 6 year heart broken stay at home feeling my world has been turned upside down.
I got a email one day from a rep at Devry asking me if I wanted to pick-up the pieces. I thought i should at least go meet him at the school and tell hm what i think and what they should do if they really cared about their students.
Ended up that he gave me a plan that i wanted to try. A program change and a confession that most of the engineering teachers that i new are all fired!
now i am in my 4th semester Technical management/ project management. Things here at 100% better! I been on the deans list and now on the presidents list. WOW!!!
I am telling you people this because I now know if we all just give our best to what we do and complain when it is a true complaint, then we can have some type of control of our outcomes.
Always be truthful to the what and why and how's of your situations. Take charge under the truth and attack every obsticle that hold you back. Remember, there is nothing perfect in this world and trying perfects out intentions.
you decide...

All ex-military do not waste you time or money at Devry. They may have professionals in the important classes but you still have to take all the core classes like English and humanities. I was tricked by all the fancy commercials about graduates hired by industry leaders. They say these core classes make you a well rounded student. But the fact is that most of the professors are realizing that this failed economy affects every sector even education, when they are asked to teach more for less hours.
This institution just recently instituted a standard operating procedure across the country, I had a problem with an unorganized English professor, who gave me a “D” on the first paper half way through the course but I am an “A” student. It started the first week of class when she was changing the grading syllabus and it was unpopulated.
By the night of class it was all drawn out, for the first three weeks we were in high school again doing writing stuff, and having discussions about perspective, I questioned the professor how can you compare these two different writers in our test book? One a biologist professor and the other an author/radio talk show commentator; she was trying to force us to write like a used car sales man instead of support your position with facts. I asked around and found out she gave a public relations student who made “A’s” last quarter a “B”; and a programmer who received a “D” in her class last quarter.
Fifty percent of our class is online in discussions, and it had an APA tutorial video over the discussion that week, I followed what the video said to do. But in the discussion the professor told me to do it her way, that week our first assignment was due so I sent it to the online tutor. I received it back and made the corrections and he did not ask me to do it the way the professor asked on the online discussion.
So I arrived to class the night it was due and the professor skimmed it over and told me I had to resubmit it, I needed to accommodate her preferences.
I spent that class revising what the online tutor said was good to go, to accommodate her preferences, I felt like I had to do it on the spot. The next week I received it and I was in dismay, I received a “D” on the assignment. Naturally I asked the professor what I did wrong and she just said it didn’t meet her standards, if I want help just come in during the day before evening class. I couldn’t let it go; I felt cheated; so I made to statements on the online discussion since she blew me off in class which lead to this email correspondence:
5/21/2010 11:41:40 PM You wrote:I would like to know what the Professor expects from me! It's obvious that the professor has high expectations; I would like to know what they are.
I would appreciate spending more time understanding what the professor wants since the final paper is 30% of the grade in this class and there is no making up for that.
Is there any standardization for this course, the same way there is for the new system that Devry has adopted? I'm confused because on the Week 3 APA discussion there was a link above the discussion. The APA link on the discussion said nothing about describing the sources just how to give credit, where credit is due. I sent my paper to the tutor but when I arrived to class I was told to introduce my sources. How can it be good for the tutor but not for the professor, are they not held to the same standards?
Isn’t that what the Devry commercial says, they have professors with real world experience, or is it just a big marketing scheme? I should have turned in what I had, but I was pressured by the professor to meet her expectations, in class the day it was due. I tried to show the professor the APA link in class but the professor ignored me.
I use facts to prove my point, there is no room for being touchy feely in the business world, and I am not a used car sales man. I want a fair opportunity to succeed, in a professional environment that is why I decided to attend Devry.
I do not appreciate being given the run around, I am the consumer of your services. I am not a high school student; I have ten years of real world experience like Intel Corporation, Motorola, Lucent Wireless, Gateway, and the US Navy. In the US Navy I learned politics; politics is what sent my job to Mexico, under such agreements as NAFTA. I have gone to college before, and I do not appreciate wasting time in class doing high school games. I aced the writing exam entering Devry; I am speaking for myself and others in your English Composition class.
Professor's Response: Hi Student,This is not the appropriate venue for discussing these problems. I am more than happy to help you understand the requirements for the class and paper.
As for real-world experience, that is detailed in my biography.
Please let me know your questions so that I can help you be successful. The email tutor answers editing questions. I am the one to ask for questions about style and organization.
You can give me a call any time or come see me in my office on Mondays 10-3, Wednesdays 10-2, Wednesdays, 5-6 or Thursdays 5-6.
Thanks, Professor , Ph.D.She deleted both responses and went to the Dean on Monday; I had seen the schedule for the next two quarters and saw that she was the instructor of the next few mandatory classes. I was contacted by the Dean and I disregarded his email and going to Devry, it was a waste of my time. The professors are condescending, unorganized, and have a double standard; you cannot standardize an education system then hide behind your title. As more people find themselves without a job they think they can market a lie to the public because of the program they have with the military.
I’m not student staff, or someone who sells an education to the public, I’m a real person just trying to survive. I just wanted to share my experience with you, you have been warned, as one size does not fit all. They cannot compete with real universities like MIT, Princeton, Harvard, or Stanford; they are just trying to get a piece of the pie!

I am currently enrolled in Devry for my Masters. I signed up only two days before classes started. The staff bent over backwards to get all my paperwork, transcripts ready.
I love my online class. All assignments are given on Sunday and are due the next Sunday (one week). My professor is extremely active on the discussion topics.
So quit your whining (especially undergrads) and get off your rears and study.

I attended DeVry 10 years ago and was placed into an excellent job as a result. After beginning my career, I went back to school to pursue a *legit* degree.
I would recommend a traditional education over the DeVry education anyday, but some people don't have the luxury of spending 4 years without making money to support themselves. If you're a kid living at home, go to a real school. If you're exiting the military or are supporting yourself, DeVry is a good alternative...at least for the near-term goal of gaining employment at a decent wage.
BTW, if you are pursuing an electronics tech career, I recommend the book http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0470289619?ie=UTF8&tag=diaofanath-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=0470289619

I AM A CURRENT STUDENT AT DEVRRY AND STILL HAVE OVER A YEAR UNIL I CAN GRADUATE. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL TO ANYONE ELSE.
WHEN I FIRST MET WITH THE ADVISOR SHE EXPLAINED HOW I MUST ATTEND CLASS THEN DO THE HOMEWORK ONLINE ANYTIME I WANTED BEFORE THE NEXT WEEK. THIS ISN'T TRUE SOME OF THE PROFESSORS SET DEADLINES GIVING YOU LESS THAN 2 DAYS TO GET ASSIGNMENTS DONE.
FLEXIBILITY WAS A BIG THING FOR ME, I WORK A FULL TIME JOB AND HAVE SOMETIMES JUST 4 HOURS A WEEK TO COMPLETE ASSIGNMENTS. MY OTHER ISSUE WITH THIS SCHOOL IS THEIR CLAIM THAT THEY HAVE SMALLER CLASS SIZES. THIS ISN'T TRUE MOST CLASSES(UNLESS YOURE IN A MASTERS PROGRAM) ARE ALMOST THE SAME SIZE AS AVERAGE CLASSES YOU WOULD ATTEND AT A NORMAL COLLEGE.
THIS SCHOOL IS ALSO EXPENSIVE I'M IN THE B.S./ACCOUNTING PROGRAM HERE AND IT COST OVER 11K FOR 2 SEMESTERS THATS HALF A YEAR OF COURSES. THEY LIE ABOUT ALOT OF THINGS WHEN THEY ARE TRYING TO RECRUIT YOU. LSTEN TO EVERYTHING THEY TELL YOU SPEND A DAY OR SO AT THE CAMPUS AND RELY THINK IF THIS IS THE SCHOOL FOR YOU, BECAUSE ONCE YOUR IN THERES NO WAY OUT. THE CREDITS CAN'T TRANSFER OUT AND THE MONEY IS NON REFUNDABLE.

I am not going to bash Devry but I am going to put the truth out there.
When I first started at Devry the super d duper admin squad enrolled me in a class that was already on my transcript. I mentioned it a couple of times but whatever. 4 weeks into the class, I go in there again and Im like look, yada yada yada... "Oh yea, this is already on your transcript." They tried to throw me into another class halfway through.
I had no clue what was going on so I ended up leaving that class. The book that I had to buy for the initial class that I already had credit for was $143. I told the them that I needed a refund and they were like, "Oh I dont know about that. I will have to look into it." Ive never heard anything else about that.
The Financial Advisor at Devry SA has spoken to me numerous times, while I was in the Army, while I was getting out and after I was out. I even gave her the paperwork proving I was out. I am supposed to be getting paid Housing for being a veteran but the school has to send in the proof to the GI Bill office. Something told me to call and see if my paperwork had been submitted and of course it wasnt.
THE FINANCIAL AID CHICK CLAIMS SHE DIDNT KNOW I WAS USING THE POST 9-11 GI BILL. So now I have to wait forever to get my tuition assistance and my housing allowance. No one is going to wait for me to pay my rent.
Devry will send out the bills for us to pay them before they send out our certifications (for GI Bill) for us to get paid. She told me "Oh, I usually wait until about the second week of class to send those out." But by the second week, Im already receiving an email saying, "You can now view your Devry Bill online." OH REALLY!
From the moment I got to Devry Ive had regrets but yes I do agree that you get out what you put into it. Your main put out should not be the money. And the EDUCARD. OMGosh. Dont get me started. The financial person will ensure you that you NEED a loan, no matter how much tuition assistance you receive and regardless if you are a US Vet. You would think she knows, but all she knows is loans and bills.
So here I am, three months after Ive ETSd out of the Army and still no Post 9-11 GI bill. I am not one to just go off on people because I know work can get stressful but Devry SA only has about 100 students if that and only a handful are military or vets. There is no reason why my paperwork shouldn't have went in.
This overpriced, money hungry school really needs to reevaluate the way they handle business because all we want is education. Who deserves to walk away feeling gotten?

My son wanted to learn game simulation and programming. He was recruited by a number of good schools and Devry. Regretfully he chose Devry. The recruiter lied to us from the very start. My son graduated high school Summa Cum Laude. The recruiter told us that he would get thier highest scholarship that would pay half of his tuition. With his gpa and the fact that I am disabled and He is high functioning Autistic.
Months later after it was to late got email saying he did not get that scholarship. WE went to thier open house in Decatour GA. Sent the RSVP that we would be there. We got to the campus and found it closed.
The recruiter told us the housing there was right acrosss the street from the campus. Knowing that they closed that campus and moved it downtown. Nearest housing was now 3 miles from the school. He can not drive because of his disability.
We go to the open house and no one there knew who we were and had none of the material ready for us. Treated us like party crashers. Talked with one of the professors that was on the scholarship commitee told him about my son being up for the big scholarship. He told us he would check but never saw his name on the list of candidates.
We found out that the Alpharetta campus was within walknig distance so we changed to that campus. Filled out all the aid forms. Went to the meeting at Greenville Carolina to register for school. No one again had heard of us and had not info. Re filled out financial aid package. Went to the campus to move into housing again no one knew us or that he was enrolled.
WE then filled out the forms and got into the apartment. The apartment was nice. Close to he school. I then kept getting phone calls that they needed my tax returns for financial aid to go through. Had already given it to them 4 times. They have no cafeteria like regular colleges so have to go there every month to supply his food.
On the trip down after 3 months got call again asking for my tax returns. Now after one year of hell for me. They change housing companies and are going to move him 3 miles from campus no longer within walking distance. So he will have to change schools.
He enjoyed the classes but dealing with financial aid and administration is a nightmare. Now have to pray his classes will transfer somewhere and they dont try and charge us 5,000 for transcript as have read they have charged others.

I graduated a decade ago!
I have had the pleasure of working for: Sprint Verizon Helio T-Mobile Nextel
Positions held: Upper level Management, Sales, Retail, Corporate Training, SME, Technical Advisor.
Your education is what you make of it. In any school you attend you will find those who expect an easy ride, and those ready to do the work.
Since DeVry is not necessarily a school taken seriously, If you choose to attend this school, it is in your best interest to do your best. Alumni success is the only way this schools reputation can improve. As a graduate your biggest challenge is proving you have the right stuff, and that you actually learned something from DeVry. I started with a class of 150. graduated with a class of 40. It is not an easy school.
Remember it is a for-profit school! Then again, every school is.

It's been a few years since I left DeVry, and am now trying to attend another college. But they are denying my request for my official transcript to continue my education, for a mysterious $5,000 fee.
I find it strange considering I only completed 2 classes and am paying for another loan for them through WHACHOVIA BANK. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to get my transcript without shelling out 5 grand? Email me please eddya67@hotmail.com

DeVry is a wonderful, caring university. They have a track team that will be a signed to you during your first classes at DeVry to help you, and keep your momentum to finish your degree going. Even after the weeks are up you many request additional help. The advisors care so much, my goodness, they even register your classes for you. (What else could you ask for?)
The classes that are coming up are posted, so if for any reason you want a different choice, they are there. You are informed on everything that is going on in this school, from the additonal emails about school work the teacher send to the live lectures you may attend.(They are recorded if you do not make it. Feel free to always refer back to them.)
The only bad thing I hear is people complaining about the cost of attendence. I'm sorry if you have a problem with that, but they went over the costs of tuition with you before you signed up. This is a real univeristy people, so yes it is going to be costly. (just like all universities are.)
They even have a career program that is garuanteed to find 99% of all graduates a job making a minimum of $40k a year. That is just starting off. This was what sold me on going to this school.
I am going for my bachelor's at DeVry. These people could not be more understanding. I could not believe how much they care. I told them I want to be a dentist, and they told me what degree I need. They are absolutely amazing.
The best advice I will ever give you on your education is if you are going to attend an online program, DeVry is the way to go.
P.S. If anything ever comes up, feel free to write, OR CALL THE PROFESSORS. (These professor care and do not mind at all.) And let them know why additional time is needed. I guarentee they will give you at least a week. (Do not do this for extra time, if you need help ask. But I had to ask 2xs with 2 seperate professors, due to the fact of breaking a bone in my foot. They really do care and each professor gave me an additional week.
This is a very caring school who wants you to graduate. Everytime someone graduates in this country, it only makes America that much better. Sometimes I think our country forgets we are in on this together, to make it the best for our children's future- the country they will be living in.
I really do reccommend attending DeVry. I know I have and will not in the future have any regrets.
P.S. You will get to walk at a DeVry campus for graduation! And yes there are campuses! As I said before, this is a REAL UNIVERSITY.
Houston Texas Campus, HERE I COME!!

I have attended Devry for four courses now. I am getting my Bachelors in Finance. Yes, Devry is a tad expensive...compared to community colleges!!!
So far my professors, with actual doctorates, have shown extra-ordinary expertise in their fields. Devry hires part-time instructors...mostly. They "currently" work in their career fields, or operate their own consulting firms or commercial companies. You get real world knowledge at Devry.
This school is for-profit. If you choose to be a lacky, they will not treat you like one, but you will not succeed. They're not going to force success down your throat.
Student services, registration, and administration are kind, outgoing, and helpful. They will bust their butt for you, because most Devry campuses are small. There are 93 of them. Staff knows your name, your not going to get that a huge university, unless you're an athlete.
Devry is great for working adults. Some courses are online, and some may be partially in class for lectures. I do both. Classes are challenging. If they are not challenging enough for you...great...transfer to Harvard or MIT when you can.
It all depends what you are trying to achieve with your degree. Devry is quick to place students on academic probation, but will help you by every means to graduate. They expect a C or better on all coursework.
Classes are like 10-30 students. It's good because the professor can focus on individual needs. They actually care, will answer any questions for you, and give you their phone numbers and personal email addresses. You are not just a number in big lecture hall, large campus, or in dorms.
School is not distracting with sports and prepy organizations to keep your mind detoured from studies. Devry is business at it's best. If you are about learning, and are ready to buckle down and do what your professors ask of you, then you are on the right track with Devry. They will take your tuition, like any school, but it's up to you to make your education worthwhile.
Basically, if you work hard to acheive your goals, have a strong sense of self, and are motivated to get where you want to be in life, your choice of educational institution is not "too" relevant. Name brand helps, reputation does play a role, but in the end you are the "major factor".
Perhaps, some of you cannot sell yourselves in the real world. Relying on that piece of paper as your only credential or value in the workforce is the wrong way to go. If you don't got it, you just don't got it! Make sure you have strong interview skills, and lucrative supporting creditionals along with your degree, before trying to enter the workforce.

DeVry, while expensive, has some great benefits. It offers a super flexible schedule; full-time is only 2 days a week for three years for the Bachelor's program. The military benefits are amazing as well.
I think most people that write reviews are the few unhappy ones, and I want to let everyone know that I have had nothing but a great experience with the staff and campus in Indianapolis.

Business Administration 580 per credit. You need 124 credits to graduate 124*580= 71,920 plus book and other fees. I'm not going to say it's a bad school or a good school. After graduation Hope you find a good job!. The campus I was at, there was no one to help the tutors didn't know anything about my acounting classes. There is a no make up work policy, if you fail your course materials you can not make it up for a better grade. The professor rushed through the class. Don't listen to the jive they feed you about community college. It's best to go to a community college ($100 per credit) and then transfer to a state college! Devry is for adults who already have a career and need more skills. Take this from me, NO! It's sucks and expensive! You don't have to listen to my advice it might be better for you. Do think of that money you will owe. And I almost forgot, there graduation percentile rate is 34%. Most state college are 78%.

DeVry was a promising school and I am not some bad apple who couldn't handle this institution which is often insinuated when you give your honest opinion about a school.
DeVry is a scam from the moment you sign up for information to the moment their predatory lending practices are set into motion.
I attended DeVry for nearly one year in 2007 and it by far of any online school I have attended was the worst experience I have ever had. I was a self-motivated 4.0 student when I left DeVry and I continue to be a 3.97 student at other schools which have been a heck of an improvement over this overrated school.
Reasons to stay AWAY from DeVry:
Financial Aid -- They offer an Educard program - something that is promoted to help alleviate out of pocket expenses for their inflated prices (I have yet to see another online school that has such a high tuition cost). The problem with their FA department is it seems like a lot of people don't know what they are doing. I thought maybe one thing going wrong with my FA was okay a mistake but repeated mistakes make the intent seem a lot more malicious.
Within the first three sessions of faithfully paying my Educard payment I started getting nasty emails and calls about my account being suspended due to a high balance. My first thought was how could this be, I went through the Educard process where this payment was supposed to offset what wasn't being covered by FAFSA loans.
Lesson one, someone figured out my payment wrong and instead of letting me know that I wasn't paying enough to keep my account balance manageable they let it go upward of $6000 by the third session and started automatically threatening me. So error number 1, whomever did my CoA apparently was in the mortgage industry because fuzzy math didn't equal the numbers it should have. So after being threatened with a freeze I went out and got a private loan (before the market tanked). Keep in mind this was something I was trying to avoid and why I had an "Educard" account to begin with. So I got a loan paid off my debt and had extra for the next couple of sessions to ensure I didn't have a repeat of the nasty notices.
Well ideally that would have happened by the same gurus that screwed up my CoA for the Educard also apparently did that with my loan disbursement. They sent back the entire 2nd private loan disbursement I had gotten back to the lender leaving me indebted with their institution. Now see what happens from this point is I had a 0 balance (my disbursement was in) and then two months later I suddenly had a $5000 debt. I called on this right away and was ran around their FA department for another month before someone finally admitted "we messed up".
By that time the loan market had tanked, my private loan disbursement went to pay off the loan balance (courtesy of DeVry) and I had stopped going to school there abruptly.
So to recap, they had money to pay off my debt sent it back because someone figured out Cost of Attendance wrong (they even admitted that), I could not get the funds back from the lender nor get another loan and they left me indebted to them.
I went through the Illinois BBB which was an utter waste of time because for a few more dollars they would arbitrate this case for me but offered to do little else. After that point I wrote it off as a bad experience, DeVry sent it to a collection agency and of course they are holding my transcripts hostage even though they had written off the debt and turned it over to a 3rd party.
So that is my own experience with DeVry and their shoddy Financial Aid department. Everyone screams about online schools and scams but honestly DeVry has been the only experience I have had out of 2 that has remotely operated this way. They inflate their tuition and add fees to just about anything you could think of, I called to have my statement explained because nearly $500 was going to supplies for ONE class which did not include software or any major purchases.
I am sure not everyone has gone through this sort of trial and tribulations but I am certainly not alone in witnessing their questionable business practices -- stay away there are better online options out there.

I went to University of Maine while I was in the Military for criminal justice. I have a AS in Electrical Engineering Technology from Vermont Technical College and I attended University of Vermont for Electrical Engineering. I did not finish my EE degree (95% complete) because I changed jobs and moved to Texas. I finish a BSTM at Devry and I am have almost completed the MBA program.
I don't care what school you go to. You get out of it what you put into it. I like Devry and felt that the education was worth the money I paid for the education. If you are looking for a feel ride, go somewhere else. Also I have interviewed candidates for employment from some of the best schools in the US. Education gets your foot in the door, but if you can't apply your knowledge then no college will help.

I have been taking online classes for Health Information technology and adore it. I did have a problem with addmisions but nothing too bad, I was given the wrong fax number once. My classes fit my life, I work full time and have my own place to take care of. It is a bit costly but, I thus far have not complained because I enjoy my teachers and peers.
My Advisors pick my classes so that I can graduate with what I need and only what I need, so no wasted money. I would recomend DeVry online to anyone. Oh, one last thing, I read some employers veiw DeVry as a joke, not in my case. Many people I have spoken to in my future proffesion see DeVry just like any other Uni.
Hope you all find the school that is right for you. Keep looking around before you make you'r choice, remember college is your future.

Well I just started at Devry University in the fall session. I have no problem with the curriculum, my problem is the lack of help that I get from the career couselors. I don't like when I get given the run around.
During my admission process I hand carried my military SMART transcript to Devry and I had one sent there which I verified. This day Mar2010, my transcript has not been evaluated and when I asked about it they told me someone made a mistake. Unacceptable answer for me. I also email the counselors and they claim that they never get my emails so I started sending my emails so that I can get confimation back so I know that they are reading my emails. I went to campus and asked did you get my email, they still said no.
I am seriously thinking about doing a local community college. My experience with Devry has not been good so far. I don't have anything against them. I just retired from the military last year and just trying to further my education.

I will refrain from commenting on others reviews and simply give you my sincere experience at Devry. Let me sum it up very simply by saying that all my expectations have been met or exceeded. The classes are well organized, the materials covered are relevant, and the instructors are very accesible. Classes are no walk in the park and you can expect to have to work hard in order to receive good grades. Another topic is financial aid, the department requires many documents in order to exaust there search for you to have money to attend school and it not come out of your own pocket. All colleges are as much a business as they are a platform for higher learning which means they pay close attention to the schools only major stream of revenue. I assure you that once the financial aid requirements are satisfied you will be free to concentrate on your classes. Lets make one thing clear, if you are not ready for college and you are not prepared to put in the time to succeed it will not matter in the least which university you attend because you have already set yourself up for failure. My last comment about the school concerns a department I did not think I would be developing a relationship with as an online student. The guidance department. I have a personal coach who calls me every week to get feedback from me about the school as well great discussion about concepts that help students succeed. He has opened my mind to several learning concepts and put to rest several rumors about the school. I highly recommend Devry to anyone wishing to furthor their education.

I graduated from Devry back in 2005. My decision to attend Devry was coerced from other schools in the Ohio area unwilling to transfer my community college credits into their schools. Not wanting to start over, I chose Devry in order to graduate faster.
My one complaint at Devry while was sharing the same space with people who clearly didn't want to be there. There is no getting around it; there are students at Devry who have no business being allowed near a college campus....ever. However, the majority of students attending Devry are both goal oriented and driven to do something positive with their lives. Some have aspirations of grad school extending outside of the Devry/Keller Scope, and for those students, those doors are certainly not closed by attending Devry.
Understand however that when you apply to other graduate institutions, whether it be a masters program, or Law School, you will be competing with students who for the most part attended more prestigious universities. If you have academic pursuits extending beyond Devry, and do not want to go to Keller, you can do that. You'll have to bust your ass and assure yourself of the highest GPA possible while at Devry, and study hard for the entry exam (GRE, LSAT, MCAT), scoring well above average to make up for the fact that you went to a less prestigious university. I've done this and can tell you that I will be attending Law School somewhere in August. I'm still going through the applications cycle and have not yet received answers for all of my applications...but I have received acceptances. At the end of my applications cycle I will have my pick of law schools of which to attend...all of them prestigious and well known not only in California, but worldwide.
You can do anything you like with your Devry degree. Don't think for a second that any doors are closed to you because you attended Devry. Devry opens doors to those intelligent enough to open them. As with any school, the onus is on the graduate to make it happen.

This school is not easy. Online classes make you do all the work required. Do not listen those people that say this school is a joke. I have made personal progress at this school. I've read all negative reviews and all I can say some people can't cheat all their lives. This school is not responsible for you finding a job, you are. The classes are educational and you have to do A LOT OF WORK. If you take short-cuts all your life, this school is not for you. No school is perfect. Every school has its problems. So far I have had a great experience. I would recommend if you go to this school, make the time to do the work that is required. Expensive? Yes it is. Worth it? Yes it is. Take it from me, someone who has tried other things. DO NOT ASSUME THE WORLD OWES YOU SOMETHING BECAUSE YOU PAID FOR IT.

I have spent a fair amount of time looking over comments made by others on this site. After reading many comments that just bashed DeVry and many of the functions (instructors, financial aid, etc.) I could not help but to laugh. I especially enjoyed the comments that were full of fragmented sentences, misspellings, and failed attempts by those who wrote them. I also can not fail to mention the few posts that "claimed" to have sued in small claims courts for ten thousand plus dollars. Before you decide to post an outright lie, you should do a teeny tiny bit of research. I do not know of any states that allow in excess of $10,000 in a small claims case, most states do not allow you to exceed $5,000, this is why they call it "SMALL claims." I will agree that financial aid is a messy process, but this is typically caused by the students lack of providing the proper information that is required. The majority of the information that is required has NOTHING to do with the school, the regulations are set forth by the federal government and the lenders. I have been attending DeVry for just over a year now and I will be graduating in 3 months with 11 of the 13 people that I started with. Retention rates at my campus appear very high, but maybe that is a lie? Even though I am personally seeing the success rate of my fellow classmates. Before you bash me for saying that others and myself could not possibly graduate this quickly, let me tell you how we are doing it. Simple: DeVry offers so many different programs that we all had significant amounts of former credits transfer in. I am nothing but happy with my choice to go to DeVry, but then again I provided the required information to the sources who requested in a timely fashion.

This school I believe is great for those who are in a stable job but would like to improve their situations. Not really for the kid that just finished highschool. I enjoyed the professors here some are awesome others are not. The instructor are knowledgeable and classes are small. But there are really no one here that are my age. Also if you have a class that is hard and only 5 other people to help you study and get the problems right, also tuitor still made crap on the problem.
My friend tried for awhile and didnt enjoy it tried to transfer his credits and none of his credits transfered. So he has to start over. Classes that are boring and if you miss one class its like a week of work missed. Threaded disscusion are the STUPIDIST thing ever.I cant believe it can destroy your grade so much. In the end I would reccommend devry to those with a good job and they want to advance, but not to the highschooler that is looking for parties.
Compared to K-State

I am a CET major, and a veteran. I have gone to DeVry for almost a full year now. I also attended Kansas State for a year, and while I can't say I gave K-State my best, I can tell you I feel much much better going to DeVry.
Reason No1. I have absolutely zero interest in liberal arts classes and consider them a waist of time. Deep deep down I think DeVry understands this too, and while the quality of the english classes and the psychology classes is no less than K-State, most professors at Devry won't load you up with busy work.
Reason No2. While I have heard lots of people complain about other stuff, I still have yet to see someone say "I graduated from DeVry with a great GPA but every time I go to an interview and mention Devry I'm kicked out the door." I am going to DeVry to become a good engineer and get a job. I don't really care about anything else.
Reason No3. GREAT service. I am sick of people saying "oh it took DeVry six months to do this." "oh they would never answer my calls." EVERY time I go to student services I have a GREAT experience, and everything is accomplished then and there. At K-State I was just a number, the offices closed at 5 and god forbid if you came by at 4:55 because you wouldn't be helped. At DeVry, my councilor and the receptionist at Student Central both know my name... For the summer semester I easily enrolled at their office at 8:15pm two days before classes started.
Reason No4. EXCELLENT VALUE. Yes, that's right, excellent value. At K-State, the only time I would see someone who wasn't a grad student was when I was in a 100+ person lecture hall... that's it! Because I'm a veteran, I'm paying the same at DeVry for small classes taught by professionals, who have done more with their lives besides go to school and teach. And if I wasn't a veteran, it would still be worth it to me.
My cousin has graduated from there, he has a job.
My dad is a engineer with Schlumberger, loves DeVry grads.
My squad leader in the guard has been working in the electronics industry for ten years... he's going to DeVry now because employers love the grads.
