To those who were surprised or disappointed about CCU based on what kind of accreditation it has. Anyone who does not check the "accreditation" of a school before signing on the dotted line, should probably not be going to college in the first place. Not everyone needs a degree (or all of their degrees) to be from an RA school. Perhaps it would be wise for a person to determine special needs or goals ahead of time? The fact is, I was able to obtain licensure in my field using a degree from this school.
It is how you approach things in life that matters more than where or when; this is course number 101!

I "graduated" from this online school in 2007. They took most of my credits I had piled up from many other schools since 1991. Sure CCU is not a brick and mortar school BUT, this is the easiest and fastest way to get a paper stating you have a BS. This paper now hangs on my wall and thanks to this paper- I am in a MBA program under a regionally accredited program with WGU out of Utah. In my experience, I was making $70k a year without a degree and over ten years of experience. With a BS, I jumped to 100k. With an MBA, I'll jump to 125k per year for the rest of my life. I would recommend CCU as a stepping stone to get a MBA. Think of a BS as a stepping stone to double your income.

My course work was challenging. The tuition was affordable and manageable given my demanding work schedule and family financial responsibilities. The staff is highly professional and most helpful. The academic standards of CCU are high. I have learned much more from these courses than I did an another state university. The program suited my personal and professional needs. I am quite proud to be a CCU student.

I received my degree in February from CalCoast and the college is what you put in to it. If you are disciplined and honest with yourself, then it can be a good learning education. I enjoyed the independence and the work and got my degree in 13 months. Granted, it is NOT regionally accredited and that WILL hurt you if you try to go to another college to further your degree or even find a job. While some employers don't know the difference between regionally and nationally accredited, some do. If you live outside of California, IT WILL MATTER. You also, most likely outside of California, WILL NOT be eligible for licensure in Psychology. So just be aware when making your decision for your future when considering licensure.

I was a little concerned when I first began my course with CCU, but that soon disappeared as I dealt with the highly professional staff. They were a great assist, and were always excellent in giving whatever information I needed. I have taken traditional degree work in University/college settings, and I can say that the course work was equal to any residential course work I experienced. It's a great University.

I graduated from this school on 4/20/2006 with a bachelor of science in management and this school is awful. I wanted to cancel right away since nobody ever told me, and learning on my own, that they are not regionally accredited. I went through the courses quickly because there was never any real help. I don't like this school, when you need help on a course you call a number and the person on the other line doesn't help. I tried getting a refund but no such luck so I had to finish the program.
I think this school is like a diploma mill. There are courses, but no help when you need it, and they even ruined an Ex FEMA chief due to accreditation. If I had money I would sue this school and have them close down. I felt as though I didn't earn my degree but just paid for it.
I contact CCU now to complain again and ask for a refund, but no such luck. After you graduate then good luck finding a job with this type of degree, I think it's worthless.

I recently graduated with a BS in Psychology from Cal Coast. CCU has some benefits in that it is affordable, flexible and convenient. Course work is provided in correspondence form with study guides either mailed or e-mailed to the student. Text books for each course may be purchased on line, or rented in the mail from the school's library for a modest fee.
CCU is great in that they are quick and responsive to student needs and requests. Courses are self paced, which means you can take as much time as you need on submitting work and completing the courses. They do require that you complete at least two courses each year, which is not difficult to do at all. The only time you have to get on-line is when you submit the unit exams, which there are 4 in each course. However, this is optional and you may use regular mail to do this if you prefer. So, if you don't have a computer you can actually complete one of their degree programs strictly through the mail. There is no student-teacher interaction, but help is available via e-mail, letter, or by calling the school directly.
The down side to CCU is that they are only nationally accredited through the DETC and do not possess regional accreditation. For psychology majors who wish to practice professionally, this could be a major draw back given that most states require that psych grads have a regional degree in order to sit for professional licensing examinations.
Another draw back that I experienced was the simplicity of some of the courses. Some courses were top notch in design and challenging, while others were so easy to complete it was ridiculous. Anyone with a 10th grade education could probably complete a CCU degree due to these factors.
Despite the negatives I've just mentioned, I do feel CCU is a good choice for those seeking to further their education. However, I believe you would benefit more from CCU from a personal enrichment perspective than in an actual professional or intellectual capacity. Again, this is due to the fact that their accreditation is lacking regionally and the course work is a little too easy for students to learn anything worthy of professional pursuits.

I can assure anyone who is skeptical about online/distance education that California Coast University is an outstanding school. The work I completed was extremely challenging, even more so than several doctoral classes I had taken on campus at a state university. The faculty and staff always went beyond the call of duty to be helpful, and I feel my experience at CCU provided me with the latest online learning tools as well as quality instruction/coursework. I recommend CCU without reservation to anyone who is willing to put forth diligence in pursuing an advanced degree.

I had my bachelor degree at California coast university and I did not find out that they are not regionally accredited till I was halfway through the program. I just finished my master degree and I just received a letter from the licensing examiners stating that I am not eligible to sit for licensure since my undergraduate degree is not regionally accredited.

I would recommend CCU to any working adult trying to finish their secondary education. After graduating CCU, I feel that I am not only a well rounded student, but a well rounded employee as well.
I was thankful for CCU's hard work and dedication. Every request that I made of CCU was followed through thoroughly and a very timely manner. CCU deserves every reward that they have received! I am truly pleased with CCU and would recommend them to any serious student.

I have taken graduate level courses at several other schools, at both Regionally Accredited and Nationally Accredited institutions, and I can honestly report that California Coast University is at least on par with the RA coursework, and far superior to the NA coursework that I’ve taken. The average MBA coursework consists of a Study Guide and Textbook(s).
The Study Guide is provided by the school and is included with tuition (no extra charge). These Guides are organized in such a way that you receive a complete syllabus for each course along with instructional materials, which guide students chapter by chapter through the corresponding textbook. Each Study Guide contains an overview and summary of each textbook chapter, along with a listing of important keywords with definitions and self-tests on key points. Each of those items is referenced back to the specific learning objectives for the chapter, which allow the student to easily understand concepts or theories presented in that particular chapter. Study Guides contain 4 "Unit Test" equally spaced throughout the instructional materials, a brief writing assignment and the Final Examination. Textbooks can be rented from the school or purchased elsewhere.
The administrators, faculty, instructors and staff are made up of some very fine people, and they are all only an e-mail or phone call away. And they are always happy to hear from perspective, current, and former students. What truly sets California Coast University apart from most other universities is their unabated commitment to the individual student and to student services in general.
I can't say enough about how much this school has done for me, and the many other students I met through California Coast University.

I attended California Coast University Online I received my Associates of Science in Accounting the experienced varied. The material was decent and the coursework was just as in depth as an actual college however, my interaction with the classmates and the professor was a bit lacking. Online you loose that interaction even with streaming video.

California Coast University is a really good online university. I have completed 21 courses in 18 months and the curriculum is mirrored to that of a traditional classroom university setting. This is also very affordable. I pay $100 per month till I complete my tuition balance.

California Coast University is a very professional and exigent institution. I had to work hard to get my Master in Business Administration and I'm continuing with my studies to get the PhD. I will recommend this institution to any adult professional decided to continue his/her education and get a degree when his/her daily work and life duties don't let him/her attend to a traditional College or University. At the end what really matters is how do you feel when you achieve your goals. This institution really deserves the accreditation that is looking for because of the excellence of its education.
