I was really excited about being a part of this program. Health education is my passion and was really excited about the university rich history of osteopathic medicine. Needlessly to say this particular School of Health Mangagement does not compare to the standards of its other programs. It is very difficult to communicate with someone voice mails, emails, and online discussion boards are made avaiable. The program chair that was assigned to me was not accessible it took about a week for him to respond to my emails when I had questions about my dissertation committee members the response was very vague. Beaware you are responsible for "finding" two phD holders of degrees to serve on your committee at the very beginning of the process. When you do beware that they must meet the approval of the Department Chair and they do not provide any options if you don't have or know any one that meet their needs. It has been an awful and frustrating experience no support which is needed more in the online format.

I have been teaching courses in the Master's in Public Health program in ATSU's School of Health Management [SHM] for over 2 years.
Prior to that I taught for 6 years at 5 other Online Universities. ATSU is by far the best school - because they have students who are professionals and come to class prepared. They take part in discussions and share from their expertise.
Student papers are checked for plagiarism, and by far I have seen fewer cases of copy/paste at ATSU thsn any other college. Why? Because ATSU takes plagiarism seriously, and require that students do their own work. As a result, students learn and grow in this field.
As an instructor I add much to the curiculum with public health current events - which occur each day from H1NI updates to climate change reports. This keeps students up-to date and informed.
I send out private emails to students 5-10 times a week - to help students stay on track. I provide formative feedback on weekly papers before they are turned for a final grade.
I know my colleagues do the same. We work long hours to inform our students about the best practices in public health.

I am attending online for the DHSc program. This is only the 2nd program in the country for that program, offered online. It seems like its a relatively new program so there are a few kinks but nothing that has been too bad. I think my biggest problem was that I didn't receive my IT password and had a hard time getting another one issued. It was resolved within a week.
My biggest concern was accreditation, which doesn't seem to be a problem. I was pleased that each program is accredited by the respective professional organization.
I'm only in my 2nd class and so far it's been pretty good. There's not a ton of interaction from the profs but the other students in the program are great. Most of the discussion is amongst peers. I went into the program with the assumption that I would get out of it what I am putting into it and thus far feel like I have learned alot.

This is purely a review of A.T. Still University School of Health Management. It is commonly referred to as SHM and I would like to express the difference because much of ATSU has great things to offer.
However SHM is a school that has very little to offer to students. It has no career placement services and their enrollment counselors do not even know what jobs their degrees get people in line with. There Masters programs are very over priced compared with many state online programs. They try to talk about this great history they have but that history has nothing to do with SHM it has to do with KCOM and its medical school programs. SHM is actually barely staying open and ATSU has considered closing the school a few times now. Also their faculty is often the same people working for other online schools. I bring this up because often times they will speak poorly about other online programs while they are having some of the same professors. The current dean, Kimberly O'Reilly, is more worried about number of students than the quality of the education they can give.
I would also strongly consider whether you want to receive information from this school as well. Their website offer very limited information and they have nothing useful in print. The main reason I say this though is because you will get contacted by them a ton. They do not believe let you go until they talk to you. My recommendation if you are considering them is to gather much knowledge before you talk to anyone to make sure you know you are getting the right information. Also if you decide not to go with them tell them directly you are not interested and asked to be removed or they will continue to randomly send you information.
The only program to consider taking through SHM at this time with my very strong knowledge of this school is the DHEd an maybe the MPH.

Experience was well rounded and conducted as if I was actually in a classroom. The program allowed me to speak in real time with faculty and fellow students through virtual classrooms, chat sessions and other online tools. I think ATI is for anyone that is looking to move ahead and grab their piece of the American dream. I now have a job with real growth potential and am making the kind of money I only used to dream about.
