I tried to get certified for medical transcription. Ashworth had the best price tag, but I got what I paid for. The anatomy and vocabulary segments were fine... however, when I popped in the CD to practice transcription, I found that disc wouldn't run unless I ran it as if it were on Window's 98. I completed the course, but felt no where near as informed or ready for the job what with them technological advances made in the 16 years since the course material was created. They also had website issues, where it wouldn't let me make a payment and i get a call telling em my sccount is overdue when the computer read $0 dollars due. They want me to pay another 172, and their call center is based in India where they run you around in circles. There are no instructors to talk to, and the customer service is there to take your money and not much else. I feel bad for the next person that get's duped by this correspondence course.

I'm now enrolling in a BA program that will be much more convenient and credible. It would probably be a great place to finish your high school diploma, but their accreditation is more than questionable. Make sure that your material is current, and not from 1998.

The student services are great, the girl I was talking to helped me alot. But, the pharmacy technicians course that they say in the beginning says "Certified". IT'S NOT BEWARE! Don't sign up for this course before you do research.

I thought this was the best thing that could ever happen for me.Online school no college to have to go to. AWESOME! Don't have to find anyone to watch my 4 year olds while I do school work. Come to find out after my trial period was up it doesn't certify you. The claim it gets you ready for the state board test. SERIOUSLY!!!! $700 for a course that doesn't certify you like it says in the information guide they send you. To cancel it they want me to pay $233. WHAT!!!!

So I went with a different program Criminal Justice. To switch it's $50. Well thats better than 200 bucks. I hope whoever signs up for this course reads this first before they sign up, I wish someone would've warned me first. Good luck.

A Diploma without an Education

Ashworth served its purpose for me, which is to get a degree. Luckily for me though, I have been working in the field I got my degree in and already have teh knowledge. The essential basics of every single class at Ashworth is this: read the book, take the quiz. All open book and only an occasional assignment in a class that isn't even a core course. I literally did not learn anything new from the AS degree. I will continue my BS degree elsewhere so that I might actually expand my knowledge. But, like I said, it isn't a scam, you do get a diploma, just not much of an education! Now many will tell you that it is a good curriculum and it is challenging if you're motivated, and so on. These people are also the ones who do not know how to spell, and are asking for help writing a middle school level one page essay.

Also, if you're going to go to Ashworth, you aren't going for the customer service. Lousy is all I can say. The main way to communicate is a discussion board. About 85% of the time my answer from them was either completely unhelpful or completely unrelated to what I asked, almost like they didn't even read it, just skimmed it over. The phone lines are no better, with each person telling you something different, that is if you can reach someone. Countless discussions online from frustrated students trying to get help from ANYONE but all they get is a 40 minute hold time just to be hung up on. Ah, waiting, that is the other problem with this school. Waiting for help and waiting for mail. Important mail too, like your school books. Remember how I said all you do is read a book and take quizzes, well guess what, that book will not arrive for about 2 weeks. Yes, two weeks. So you better ask for them to ship it as soon as you get halfway through your course otherwise, you'll be waiting. It also took me about 2 months to get my first billing statement, and all future statements were off a month. So if I paid for February on January 31, I would get a statement in the middle of March for February.

All in all, if you are looking for a cheap diploma for career advancement rather than an actual education go to Ashworth and deal with the headache that is their customer support. Otherwise, go to FAFSA get financial aid and go to a real online school like Phoenix or SNHU. (And for the record, I am not a disgruntled person who got screwed over by ashworth, just an actual student who wants others to know what you are getting, because if after one class you don't like the school, you aren't getting a refund, no you'll get a bill for the rest of the semester.)

I received a psychology degree from Ashworth is 2009. I retired in 2007. Many people have inquired as to why I would get a degree so late in life. Well, I am busier now than ever. I volunteer with outreach programs in my church. I am so glad I did this.

I feel I got a good education at Ashworth, and have a lot more insite to issues that effect society. If you keep up your financial responsibilites with this school and read your contract carefully, you should just fine.

I called the school many times to get my name changed and I mailed the school three times in the past 14 months my divorce pages and a copy of my photo ID per the Student Services Rep. Now after I made many requests I still don't have my unofficial transcript nor my school hasn't received my official transcript.

I am fed up trying. Good luck to any female student trying to get this done.
