Please don't get in this trap. Their degree is worth nothing. Classes are joke. Most graduates,if there's any are jobless. They are money hungry

I enjoyed the classes and instructors during my online experience with Ashford University of Iowa. I finished my required classes and was preparing to graduate when the financial aid office notified me that I owed over $2000.00 due to an accounting error. Their business office apparently didn't submit the paperwork to FAFSA on time to have my first two classes paid for using my financial aid.

I asked for a paper bill showing me what classes I owed for and an explination of why I should pay for their office mistake. They have refused, but they did turn me over to collections and are withholding me BS in Psychology. Their accounting office has ran me in circles, lost paperwork lost contact information so my husband could talk with them and refused to provide me with proper documentation of what I owe for so that I can verify it with FAFSA.

I did a Google search and found other students in a similiar situation where they are billed for classes and having their degrees withheld. I see a troubling pattern here and I'm considering legal action. If anyone has information on lawsuits against Ashford it would be greatly appreciated. K.

I have been to many colleges and universities through my travels as a military wife. I would highly recommend Ashford University. The classes are great for anyone who has to work around kids or work. Their curriculum is well layed out and the instructors are quite knowledgeable.

Of course, no road to wisdom is easy. Taking classes online takes a lot of discipline and a lot of hard work. Yes, some classes are more difficult than others. If you have difficulties with self-taught courses, then online courses are not for you. I have to say, that I've never had a problem with Ashford instructors. I've always asked for help when needed and the instructors were full of knowledge.

I've read many reviews, but I would like to address the cost of books. Books are expensive no matter where you go. I purchased most of my books on Amazon and saved hundreds of dollars.

The person who complained about their Finacial Aid Department. Common sense should of told you that it doesn't make sense what they were trying to tell you. Most Universities will try and do anything to get you enrolled. It's just the nature of the beast. They are sales people.

I have been an on-line student for Ashford and have NEVER encountered problems with the. I feel the curriculum is well-written, the majority of the instructors have the knowledge and expertise to teach a class.

To the people that complain that there isn't anyone to hold their hand, most universities rely on you to learn and be self-sufficient. If you can't do this, you will not succeed when you go out into the workforce.

My instructors have always provided a phone number. If I have a question, I call them and it gets answered.

I had the same experience at the University of Phoenix when I went for my Bachelors.

Learning is not easy. It is what you put into it. I brag about my accomplishments and my success. If it wasn't for UOP and Ashford, I would not have a successful business right now.

Was looking into transferring to Ashford. Was quoted tuition by adviser that proved to be false. Was also pushed into beginning first course before Financial aid was complete. The adviser also told me I was eligible for benefits that I was not even after I told him I was not he kept saying he found a loophole and not to worry, just begin class right away.

I asked several times to delay my classes until everything was in order, but he kept trying to convince me everything would be fine. Finally he told me that if anything went wrong I could withdraw within the first few weeks and not owe anything. Well after 8 days the extra benefits were denied just like I told him and my tuition was MUCH higher than I was quoted. So I withdrew after 8 days and was ruthlessly pursued by collections that would not give me ANY way to appeal the debt.

For your own good, please look to anywhere else but Ashford and DO NOT believe what the advisers say because they don't give you any way to fight it when things prove to be different.
