This is a copy that I put on another website. I have happily told the school that each time their student services department makes me fill out a form I will write another review. Reading some of the reviews though I would encourage you to critically review some of these people. Did they ever get accepted. Especially the unhappy employees. They really have some people that should be fired. Maybe them no longer working there is a positive thing and their review is not valid.

The degree is valid and accredited. They do work hard to improve their systems and delivery of education (if you have a problem it is your responsibility to be an active learner and tell them what you want to see changed). I took a masters program which was accepted by my place of employment without any issues. My husband also took a masters and it was accepted by his employer. We both found a lot of value in the school.

What impressed me the most, is that most of the Students are from the US military which means that they have been looked at by a very large body and approved to meet their employment needs. It was great to have their perspective as well.

The teachers were approachable and knowledgeable in their fields. Over the two years process improvements were occurring which is also positive. (It means they are listening)

The down side to this school is their forms process, and financial department. It is the biggest pile of red tape I have ever dealt with (enough that is prompting me to write this a second time and comment, when I normally hate doing these things). Their is a form for everything and their is no way to do anything unless you fax a signed form in. Not only this but you have to rewrite the form every time you need anything. Added to this if you do it wrong they could possibly just delete all the information but will not tell you. You are somehow supposed to know you did not meet their secret criteria. This is crazy given that you need to sign in with a password to get the forms. Why not send the information encrypted from your student portal?

If you are applying the easiest way to fix this is ask how they are improving their communication with students. Hopefully the power of the internet will mobilize change in this regard. This may not seem like a big issue but it will be if you need anything.

Remember that this is a very competitive and motivated school which is to your advantage. It is your responsibility to use this to your advantage to get what you want out of the school.

Otherwise enjoy if you do, I loved the ability to learn at home and have been able to put the information to use in my career (it wasn't just letters behind my name for me).

I have been attending Ashford for about 2 years as a transfer student and have not experienced any problems with the courses, instructors, financial aid department, or student advisors. Everyone's experiences are going to be different so no one should rely on the negative posts about Ashford. I have had a few different advisors since attending Ashford and they are more helpful than the actual advisors that I dealt with when I attended a physical campus at another institution.

Ashford University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association. Therefore, the school is fully accredited and many have complained about the cost but most online schools are very expensive (I know because I did the research). If others would have done their research too they would have known that Ashford is costly, just like most colleges, and if that was something they knew they couldn't afford then why did they sign up??? It seems to me most people are complaining due to a lack of research and plain old fashioned laziness.

My only complaint about the cost is that it has gone up every year, which is frustrating but many colleges around the nation have been experiencing the same thing. In addition, they rejected more credits than I thought they would when I transferred. For all those people complaining about how they hound you over the phone to sign up, well guess what you are grown!!!!!! No one is putting a gun to your head. Arizona State University did the same to me and they are top well known college in the United States. They all do it because it is about making a profit!!!!

Your education is what you make of it and yes the education I have received so far has helped me get jobs, contrary to what others have said about Ashford degrees being a scam, and I haven't even graduated yet. For all those people who are working parents like myself and do not have the ability to attend a college in person then I recommend attending Ashford because some degree is better than no degree and regardless of the cost you should never put a price tag on your education because it is forever and in this day in age it is critical to have an education to fall back on. Best of luck to all.

When I was looking for a university, I was seeking a place where I could do everything online. Because of my crazy work schedule, trying to go to classrooms or webinars just wasn't the thing for me.

Ashford allows me to do what I need to do when I need to do it. I know that there are some who feel the online learning environment is not for them, but in my experience, if you're willing to do the work, then online learning can give so much.

Expect to get what you give in! I love this school and highly recommend it to anyone who is self-motivated and seeking a purely online education!

Hi Everyone

I am a student at Ashford University and I have been attending since 2009. Some classes have been great and others not so great, but it really depends on how much work and effort you are willing to put into it, and what subjects you like, or dont like. however,so far all of my instructors have been extremely helpful, and clear about their expectations.

I was reading one persons comment about attendence and I have to say I dont really see the problem. Most people are simply to lazy or unwilling to read the expectations which are clear and concise. If for some reason you dont understand then it may not be the school who has the problem. Are they expensive? Yes, they are a for profit school, but this is to be expected, and for those of you who are saying they just want your money; your right but then you must want a degree and if your incapable of achiving one through Ashford move on and quit complaining.

Ashford is a great school, and I have learned a lot from them. Every school is different and if you dont like Ashford go somewhere else but by all means dont complain. The mere fact that you are complaining without expressing other options tells me that your complaining about somthing that is probabl not true. I love Ashford, and i want to thank them for everything. Had it not been for ashfords effort to recruite me I would still be 4 years from a BA today I am 11 months away. Again thank you so much Ashford for being such a great school with a great schedule that fits mine.

By the way for all the fiancial aid complaints I wanted to say this; I went to a public Jr college and they handed me a stack of papers about 3inches thick and said complete this and they did not even offer to help me even understand financial aid and Ashford tehy held my hand the entire time. If you do complain dont make it about how you didnt get your fiancial aid!!!!!

This is a good program. Many of the reviews are just angry students who have a self arrogance and believe the world must bow down to them. I attended UCLA for my undergraduate and now Ashford U. for my grad work and I'm pleased with both schools

My efforts determined my outcome at both schools and I find them equally valuable. Of course to get the most from your school, you have to stop crying and complaining and starting getting engaged with your studies.

Actually UCLA had less student services and counseling then Ashford but I'm not going to run around telling the world how horrible UCLA. That is just silly and immature. Ashford University is a good school and very respectful.
