Getting my first bachelor's Degree at 50 was not easy, but it was very rewarding! It was frustrating to see people who cannot spell and who cannot formulate a proper sentence go forward and onto more classes. I don't believe that they should have passed the basic English Coursework, but yet we did see them in nearly every class. I beleive that this would have to be my only complaint about this school.
Otherwise the coursework was challenging. I hated the critical thinking tests, but they really make you think and use parts of the brain that normally are not stimulated, so overall it was a good thing! I emailed my advisor towards the end of classes (when i was getting burned out) that I needed a break and they were very accomodating and encouraging. K. actually cares that you succeed and she cares that you finish what you started. She was also my financial advisor and she was on top of things every step of the way. no glitches, no hitches! She made this a great experience for me and I am forever grateful that she did not let me give up on myself or the degree!
for those who complained about financial aid and access to advisors, I would need to say, you probably did not stay with it and probably were not persistent. Part of arming yourself with education includes taking on the responsibility to be persistent, to ask the tough questions and to be resourceful. For those who have these qualities, you will do well in an online environment. For those who do not, I recommend you attend the brick and mortar classes.

Read these post carefully. Ashford is a great school. Just like anything else, you will get out of it what you put into it. You can graduate from this University if you EARN your degree.
Ashford is not a paper mill. If you are serious about your goals Ashford is a great place to start. My instructors where helpful and engaging. My financial aid was always on time.
Prior to Ashford I attended a traditional brick and mortar university and had many many many more issues with instructors and financial aid. Ashford was nothing like that. Good luck to all and do your research, don't base your choice on public opinion.

I was schedule to graduate Oct 2012. I did everything I was suppose as the student. I contacted my fin aid advisor numerous of time regarding mmy fin award. All I kept reading for his email , it will be ok. Hell no it was not okay. I can not get my degree, plus I still owe money when I had a zero balance prior to graduation. Let's just say all my hard work did not paid off.
I recommend you go to a university on campus so you can get one on one attention from fin aid. I had great instructors but it sad to say, the jobs I have been trying to get are waiting on my transcript which I can not get because I have been screwed out of 865.00 because of someone being to lazy to HELP ME. Also be careful because you for Healthcare Administration you better be careful because you should have a specialty when you graduate.
Healthcare Administration by itself mean nothing. TRUST ME. MAD AS HELL!!!!!

I would like to start off by saying that I have read many positive and negative posts on Ashford. Being with Ashford for over three years, I can see why some may get frustrated. For one, you have to put in the time in order to get the grade. People these days think by posting a few sentences in the discussion questions and writing a half-ass paper without proper grammar are entitled to a (A). They are sadly mistaken. You have some of the most intelligent and experienced instructors out there. They demand a lot, so in order to obtain a good grade; one must put in the time and effort.
Some also complain about the financing. I am not sure why when it is very cut and dry. I have used my GI BILL and if I had a problem, as long as I kept in contact with my financial advisor, was resolved within a few days. Advice, if you attend Ashford you must stay in contact with your academic advisor and financial advisor. It’s as simple as that. Communication is the key!!!! These students who may post negative feedback are ones who may not be ready to attend college or are simply too hard to please. Really, it’s up to you to make sure things are being paid and it’s up to you to provide the best possible answers and papers. Otherwise, go and sign up at your local community college because Ashford may be little to advance for you.

This is a copy that I put on another website. I have happily told the school that each time their student services department makes me fill out a form I will write another review. Reading some of the reviews though I would encourage you to critically review some of these people. Did they ever get accepted. Especially the unhappy employees. They really have some people that should be fired. Maybe them no longer working there is a positive thing and their review is not valid.
The degree is valid and accredited. They do work hard to improve their systems and delivery of education (if you have a problem it is your responsibility to be an active learner and tell them what you want to see changed). I took a masters program which was accepted by my place of employment without any issues. My husband also took a masters and it was accepted by his employer. We both found a lot of value in the school.
What impressed me the most, is that most of the Students are from the US military which means that they have been looked at by a very large body and approved to meet their employment needs. It was great to have their perspective as well.
The teachers were approachable and knowledgeable in their fields. Over the two years process improvements were occurring which is also positive. (It means they are listening)
The down side to this school is their forms process, and financial department. It is the biggest pile of red tape I have ever dealt with (enough that is prompting me to write this a second time and comment, when I normally hate doing these things). Their is a form for everything and their is no way to do anything unless you fax a signed form in. Not only this but you have to rewrite the form every time you need anything. Added to this if you do it wrong they could possibly just delete all the information but will not tell you. You are somehow supposed to know you did not meet their secret criteria. This is crazy given that you need to sign in with a password to get the forms. Why not send the information encrypted from your student portal?
If you are applying the easiest way to fix this is ask how they are improving their communication with students. Hopefully the power of the internet will mobilize change in this regard. This may not seem like a big issue but it will be if you need anything.
Remember that this is a very competitive and motivated school which is to your advantage. It is your responsibility to use this to your advantage to get what you want out of the school.
Otherwise enjoy if you do, I loved the ability to learn at home and have been able to put the information to use in my career (it wasn't just letters behind my name for me).
