Okay so I attend Ashford University and have for two years now. Since my start of the school I have had to repeat my needs and requirements of what i wanted from them as per my scheduling of classes, veteran affairs, and financial aid needs.
For the military I am allotted Tuition Assistance which requires me to be full time to get everything paid for and my Gi bill/kicker. I have explained that to my advisor too many times, and i am pretty sure it happened every few months. Basically i need to have two classes at the same time frame to be full time and collect 100% of my gi bill, which i broke down to the workers in baby terms. Due to their incompetence the first year and almost a half i never got my classes at the same time and added upon that is that they never sent the paperwork to Veteran Affairs to validate i was attending classes. An added bonus is that they would repeatedly schedule me for ONE class without even asking or informing me that I would have to call or email them to be withdrawn. Overall this happened many times and caused many problems with the VA for i started accruing a balance of debt.
As for financial aid it has been a year and a half and i still have not received my stipend, and they seemed to try to hold on to it or use it for other means than to give it to me. So i ended up using some of it towards two classes due to the fact that two classes that go 5 weeks long with a maximum 4,500 TA basically ends with more than half the year left and no classes.
Overall it has cost me alot of time, wasted energy, i have had to repeat myself i swear probably almost a 1,000 times to them, and i have lost a lot of money and almost went into collections due to not knowing I had a balance for VA.

I would recommend this University to anyone. You get what you put into it. The teachers are fair and knowledgeable. In all honesty, it may not be the best school, but it met my educational needs at the time.
The school is very technology driven. It utilized i-phone apps and online tools that really assisted me in my studies. I could virtually study, research, and submit all my work electronically and/or online.

I started at this school in 2010 and graduated In 2013 with a BA in Early Childhood Education I am in the national Golden Key Honor Society and finished with a 3.72 Magna Cum Laude.
I started my Master's this year and three courses in I have a 3.67 during my fourth class my instructor left and a new assistant professor Keith Pressy took over and felt that my work was not corrected and that he was failing me and he was putting me on a probation, really I received no help from my academic advisor and really this was not handled correctly so if you have a problem with a teacher do not look to get help because they will not help you at all.
With that I am back at University of Phoenix which has a better and more detailed course for what I was really look for.

First of all the tuition is not almost 11,000, the truth of the matter is it is 18,585 a year for a Bachelor Degree, with there being a 3% increase every year since I have attended(now 4 years). They made over a quarter million in profit last year, and continue to raise the cost of classes and force you to purchase digital materials that can be purchased used at over half the cost that they charge. I have had to go to student mediation twice over charges that were on my account that just appeared, and will have to do it again since they just charged twice for the same three classes. All their mistakes not mine.
I work hard at Ashford, do not mind working for my grades, however I should not have to do the staffs job, including the instructors, because they have a I do not have to answer you for up to 48 policy in place.. If the classes are 5 weeks and at the 2 week Friday you do not understand anything, then you are just out of luck, because when Monday rolls around your instructor will not even respond.
This last award period I was overlooked when it came to my disbursement, and my academic advisor told me I had to wait two weeks after the inital disbursement that was supposed to be disbursed before I could make a formal complaint. I mean come on.. That is utterly ridiculous, not to mention always have to verify my tax year as well as my husband who also attends.
Had I not been so close to graduation then I would have changed a year ago. All I can say is when it is time for my masters degree you can BET ASHFORD will not get one more dime of the money I have to pay back.. They are poor at communication and greedy.

When I first started going to Ashford, I was a year out of high school and found myself sleeping in the parking lot at my local college instead of going to class, I hated getting up at the butt crack of dawn and having to wait hours between classes. My research into an online school landed me at Ashford.
When I first started everything was great. I never had an issue with financial aid, getting textbooks or anything. However after 9 months, I got lazy and wasn't logging on to do my assignments like I should and I failed my class. THIS WAS MY FAULT, I had to pay back the money for that class. I didn't sign back up right away because I decided to join the military and explore other options.
After BCT and AIT, I got back into the workforce and didn't put a thought into going back. When I found out I was pregnant and had to quit my civilian job because they couldn't allow me to have the breaks I needed because I was high risk, I decided that this was the perfect time to go back to school to keep me busy. When trying to start back up, I had one admissions advisor who kept telling me I NEEDED these certain papers, that I didn't have, so I gave up. About two weeks after that I got a call from another admissions lady, that once I explained she apologized about the previous lady, and was able to get me back into school in two weeks.
Besides filling out about four or five forms and filling out my FAFSA yearly, I don't have to deal with paperwork. You just have to stay diligent when it comes to assignments and attendance. As in READ their policies.
My only complaint about the school, is actually the students. They aren't utilizing the tools they have and don't read assignments properly so it sometimes makes it hard to respond to their discussions or understand what they are trying to say.
If I was able to have a baby and not drop a class or it affecting my grade then there really shouldn't be an excuse for anyone else not being able to attend the classes like they should or not complete assignments. I love this school, especially now that they have an app that I can use from my cell phone to log into school.
