The financial aid department DID NOT do their job as financial aid advisors and advise me, the student, of what to expect financially before I graduated. I was not made aware of the balance until I checked!! I made numerous attempts to speak with my financial advisor who did not return any calls or did his manager. This is not what I call advising! DO NOT USE THIS SCHOOL IF YOU NEED TO USE FINANICAL AID OR LOANS TO PAY FOR CLASSES! You will be highly disappointed!!

I'm enrolled at Ashford as we speak. I'm finishing the class I'm paying and stopping all my funds from being dispersed to them when I am done. I was rushed into signing up by an academic advisor who didn't even bother to show me how to use the blackboard until my class had already started. Getting YOUR money, yea right! The checks, when they do come, come from Ashford LLC. Last time I checked, that's not a bank. So, they are making interest off of every sucker that signs up with their sorry program. I highly reccemend that you look into any other school that will treat you like a human and not a dollar bill, or thousands of dollar bills rather. You are just another number. I am doing well in the school too, so take it from someone who is not just angry because she can't hold her program down, this school is a joke.

I just finished my Bachelors at Ashford and although it wasn't easy, I did it. Ashford demands a lot of papers, in fact an 8-10 page paper every 5 weeks and this can be challenging. You will have to manage your time very carefully because these professors stick to the APA style format to the letter, no exceptions. They are hard but fair and I learned so much. I am now enrolled for my Masters and enjoying my first class. Once again, it is proving to be quite challenging but I'm up for it.
It IS a good school

Ashford University is regionally accredited. I attended this school for 15 months earning my BA in psychology. I had no problems with the school when I attended. I got in contact with all my professors when I needed to. They were all very helpfull. Everyones experience will be different but I went to both online school and traditional school earning another degree and I love online school. I made a good choice with Ashford. I have sinced applied to 3 different schools for my Masters degree and was accepted to all 3. 2 of them are local schools in NY and the other was online. Go for it and get your own experience. BTW no one paid me or asked me to write this review.

I have been attending Ashford since March 2006, I will be graduating in April 2010. The only problem that has occured was when the Student Portal was being redone, and my future classes were not shown. I emailed my academic advisor and she was able to give me my future classes.
I have had professors that took forever to get back to me, and professors that got back to me immediately. If you think that sort of thing doesn't happen at every College than you should rethink the online courses.
I reccommend to all those interested in EARNING a degree.

I have read the negative posts for quite some time now and finally have something to say. I will be completing my MBA this month (6/09) from Ashford University and have had nothing but a positive experience for the past 18 months. For those of you who need your hands held, go to a traditional school. For the adults seeking a great education from an accredited university, Ashford is it. The teachers have been excellent, and the classes have been challenging, yet rewarding. If you can't manage time well, or need someone to babysit you, a brick-and-mortar school is for you. I have read all the negative posts from sissys who can't handle the work load, or are looking for an easy degree with minimal effort. Go somewhere else, no-one cares, whine until someone gives you a degree instead of earning one on your own.

People Please do your homework, don't believe everything you read. Ashford is accredited not only accredited but Regional. National Accreditation vs. Regional Accreditation learn the difference between the two, it’s a must for your education online or in class. Ashford falls under The Higher Learning Commission.
Back to Ashford, they are not going to spoon feed you and the work is there but no one is going to push you to do anything or hound you down. You have to work for your grade. So if you're looking for an unaccredited easy degree that probably won't be recognized by future employers then Ashford is not for you. You do have to do work and there is a lot of reading and writing involved but it's to show your comprehension of what it is your reading. My second class I had an 8 page thesis to write, not including cover, reference page, and my APA citation.
Another note if someone doesn't call you back, common sense says keep calling. It's your degree and money not theres. I love Ashford a little demanding with the papers but I get it done and so can you.

My experience at the start was great. Once you are enrolled the grants and funds you qualified for all of a sudden have quickly vanished. The process to get assistance for grading is worse than any process that you can imagine, or ever want to experience. They will put collections on you faster that you can say help!

Ashford advertises online degrees in Education that are not recognized by any school system. The online programs are extremely disorganized, you can never get in touch with someone when you need help, and the overall quality of the courses are very childlike. Many of the professors teaching the courses are also unreachable and very condescending when you can actually get them to respond. For the money spent, I would strongly suggest that you look elsewhere.
