American Public University System 76% Recommended
American Public University System has a high recommendation rate of 76%. Master’s in Criminal Justice graduate, David, said, "The educational program, course delivery, and faculty were excellent. From the moment I started, the advisors, staff, and faculty proved how valuable I was as a person and student." Gabriel also commented on the strong student services, saying, "The professors all took their time to help when I had questions and to ensure that I truly understood the course materials." In response to several reviews regarding difficulties with financial aid, Business Administration student, Kevin, advised incoming students to stay proactive to avoid issues. Kevin said, "I have found that it is best to get the jump on securing one's classes and renewing financial aid... The key to one's success at APU is getting organized and taking responsibilities for one's actions."
American Sentinel University 71% Recommended
American Sentinel University has a recommendation rate of 71%. Many alumni submitted reviews complimenting ASU's intuitive technology and faculty engagement. Diane, a 2015 nursing graduate, said, "The school has good online setup and resources. The instructors I had were all experienced." Other graduates described their dissatisfaction with engagement levels. MSN graduate, Katrina, said "[Faculty] are on the other side of the computer... They do not have the ability to visually interpret or intervene when a student is having difficulties." Guy, who earned his Master of Science - Information Systems at ASU, said, "The program requires a tremendous amount of self-discipline. Since there are no timelines for turning in assignments and exams, other than the course completion deadline, it is up to the individual to stay on top of her studies."
Ashworth College 70% Recommended
At 70%, Ashworth College's has a fairly high recommendation rate among students of its online programs. Jerry, a 2014 Bachelor's in Criminal Justice graduate, said, "The best part for me is that when I could no longer afford to pay upfront for each term, I was able to finance my education with Ashworth with no interest." Other students, like Medical Office Assistant student Kishao, remarked on the good communication with faculty and advisers. Kishao said, "I have never had a problem getting a response no matter if I called or sent an email. I was always answered directly or within the next day by email." Other students cited areas for improvement. Omar, a 2015 graduate, said, "Ashworth has national accreditation which is ok, but may not transfer to most regional institutions." Marketing student, Byron, said, "I have had problems with the interface they use for submitting assignments and the customer service is lacking."
Bryant & Stratton College Online 75% Recommended
Bryant & Stratton College Online has a high recommendation rate of 75% among recent graduates of its online programs. Students submitted reviews citing many positive qualities of the institution, including great communication with students and easy access to resources. Angie, a Human Resources graduate, said, "I have had a great experience with all of my instructors. They do expect you to do your work, but they are also willing to help you in anyway that they can, even giving personal phone numbers, Skype account, Google Hangout accounts, among other things." Brian, a 2013 Networking IT graduate, said, "This college made it easy for me by taking care of all the FA and books. It is not overly expensive. It has a reasonable tuition." Regarding the difficulty of some classes, Brian also said, "You have to be a person who devotes the time and do not lag behind... The classes are fast and a lot of material is involved."
California Coast University 89% Recommended
With a recommendation rate of 89%, California Coast University is one of the most highly recommended online schools. Many reviews submitted by recent online graduates have described great student support, flexible pace for courses, and career advancements after graduation. Phillip, a 2014 Master’s in Healthcare Management graduate, said, "The support staff from admissions, faculty, and recognition by the president were all first rate." Business student, Jordin, said, "I love the ability to test out of classes as well. It has been great to work at my own pace." 2005 MBA graduate, Jonathan, said, "I had a very positive experience with both the faculty and overall curriculum." A few students cited difficulties caused by CCU’s lack of regional accreditation, like Brandi, who said, "It is not regionally accredited, and that will hurt you if you try to go to another college to further your degree or even find a job."
Columbia Southern University 82% Recommended
With a recommendation rate of 82% among graduates of its online programs, Columbia Southern University is an excellent choice for students pursuing online degrees. Reviews mentioned exceptional faculty, advisors, and staff as some of CSU's best qualities. Diannia, a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice graduate, said, "Teachers were outstanding, and the service I received from all employees was always courteous and speedy." Public Administration graduate, Larry, described great military student support; "This is the most military friendly school I have attended... Since it is fully nationally accredited, I was able to use my GI bill without any problem." 2014 graduate Wayne described some of the common online learning frustrations, saying, "It's very tough to read, comprehend, and be tested on material without being able to ask questions of the professor or get the perspective of others in the class."
Concord Law School 69% Recommended
Concord Law School has a recommendation rate of 69% among online graduates. Discussing the favorable course design, 2015 graduate Raad said, "Concord not only provided an extremely strong core curriculum, but also allowed me to take electives that will help in my pursuit." Carol, a 2009 graduate, complimented the school’s online technology, but warned that computer skills are necessary prior to enrolling. "Being comfortable with technology and communication via computer is necessary so that it is not a distraction," Carol added, "The technical assistance is friendly, patient, and kind." Some graduates cited financial aid issues, like Sara, who said, "Concord might be great if you can pay for your tuition up front, but if you are on financial aid, they will take your enrollment fees and drop you for 'non-attendance' before your financial aid is disbursed."
Saint Leo University Online 70% Recommended
Saint Leo University Online has a recommendation rate of 70%. Bachelor's in Healthcare Management student, Rubey, said, "I am currently enrolled and have nothing but positive things to say. The staff is very helpful and the classes are challenging as well as informative." Eric, a 2015 graduate in Computer Information Systems, said, "I feel the instructors in CIS dept. are extremely involved and respond to any concerns or questions you may have. I am using my GI Bill so all of my financial issues are automatic. Overall this is a good school and it has definitely improved me as a person and a professional. Criminal Justice graduate, Christina, said, "I love St. Leo because my adviser calls me all the time to see if I need help or just to let me know I was doing a great job. If I got a low score or missed turning in something, she called."
Ultimate Medical Academy 74% Recommended
Ultimate Medical Academy has a recommendation rate of 74%. Many alumni reviews complimented UMA's helpful and supportive staff, advisors, and faculty. Many also described receiving several degrees from UMA's online programs. Lekenya, a 2015 graduate, said, "I finished my diploma in May of this year. Now I am working on my Associate's. They have helped with everything, from financial aid to interview practice." Tierra, a 2015 Medical Billing and Coding graduate, said, "My advisor is awesome. She helped me every step of the way with finishing school." Remarking on the community atmosphere of UMA, 2015 graduate Misty, said, "The teachers, advisors, financial aid office, and even all of the students are very friendly and helpful. They make me feel like we're all a family."
Western Governors University 76% Recommended
Western Governors University has a recommendation rate of 76%. Student reviews cited many positives, like exceptional faculty and flexible curriculum design. Robert, a 2014 MBA graduate, said, "The university mentors were amazing, the curriculum was tough but well laid-out, and I loved the work at your own pace model." Information Technology graduate, Dane, said "I appreciate the move-at-your-own-pace aspect of this institution." Marketing graduate, Angela, said, "The competency-based curriculum and flexible schedule/pace sealed the deal for me. The fact that the tuition was much lower than other universities was a huge selling point as well." Some students voiced their dissatisfaction with WGU graders. 2015 graduate, George, said, "The graders often don't have backgrounds in what they're evaluating. This creates a number of problems."
