50 Military Scholarships

Scholarships for Military StudentsColleges and organizations across the country award scholarships to students in the military to help them finance their education.

Here are 50 scholarships for members of the military (and a few for their spouses). They range from a few hundred dollars to full rides, so check them out and don't let tuition be the barrier to your education.


 

  1. Aage & Margareta Moller Scholarship for Veterans of the War in Iraq & Afghanistan
  2. This scholarship is for members of the Armed Forces who have served active duty in the War in Iraq or Afghanistan. To be eligible, applicants must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree full time at the University of Texas-Dallas.
  3. Active Duty Green to Gold Scholarship
  4. This scholarship is for active duty Army personnel pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree while remaining on active duty. To be eligible, applicants must be under the age of 31, be U.S. citizens, have been active duty for at least two years, have a GT score of 110 or greater, have passed the APFT in the last six months with at least a 180, have a minimum 2.5 GPA, and be eligible to re-enlist. Those with a domestic violence crime conviction are not eligible. The scholarship period is two years, and can include tuition, educational fees, book allowance, and/or a tax-free monthly allowance.
  5. Alabama National Guard Educational Assistance Program
  6. This $1,000 scholarship is for active Alabama National Guard members who are pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at a public postsecondary institution in Alabama. To be eligible, applicants must be members of a federally recognized unit and be in good standing with that unit.
  7. American Ex-Prisoner of War, Peter Connacher Memorial Scholarship
  8. This scholarship is for former American Prisoners of War and their descendants who are residents of Oregon. To be eligible, applicants must provide proof of POW status or lineal descent (if a descendant). Applicants must be U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens, file the FAFSA, and be enrolled full-time. The award amount is not specified.
  9. American Legion Edgar A. Fisher Post #60 Scholarship
  10. This $300 scholarship is for veterans, their spouses, and their children, who are pursuing an undergraduate degree full-time at Valley City State University. To be eligible, students must have had a minimum 2.0 GPA in the preceding semester. Preference is given to residents of Barnes County, North Dakota. Freshmen are ineligible for this award.
  11. Captain Sean Grimes Nursing Scholarship Fund
  12. This scholarship is for Army Reservist, Army National Guard, active Army, or honorably discharged veterans. To be eligible, applicants must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree full-time at Michigan State University College of Nursing. The award amount is not specified.
  13. Casey Laine Armed Forces Scholarship
  14. This $200 scholarship is for current members of the Armed Forces, honorably discharged members, or ROTC members who are pursuing an undergraduate degree at an accredited postsecondary institution. To be eligible, applicants must be residents of the following Texas counties: Aransas, Bee, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Nueces, Refugio, or San Patricio. Applicants must also be high school graduates who rank in the top 50% of their graduating class.
  15. Comer Family Scholarship Endowment
  16. This scholarship is for members of the ROTC, active duty, military reserve or National Guard program who are pursuing an undergraduate degree at Oregon State University and who are or will be enrolled in the College of Pharmacy. The award amount is not specified.
  17. Dr. James R. & Lois A. Anderson Endowed Scholarship
  18. This $300 scholarship is for active duty Air Force members or their dependents who are pursuing an undergraduate degree at any Central Texas College campus. To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need.
  19. George Washington Award
  20. This scholarship is for U.S. military personnel and their dependents pursuing an undergraduate degree full-time at Schiller International University. Applicants will be judged on academic achievement, financial need, and nationality. The award amount is not specified.
  21. Georgia's HERO Scholarship Program
  22. This $2,000 scholarship is for active or disabled Georgia National Guard or U.S. Military Reserves members, their children, and their spouses, who were deployed for active duty service to an international location designated as a combat zone. Applicants must be Georgia residents who are pursuing an undergraduate degree at a postsecondary institution. Service members must have served a minimum of 181 consecutive days in the combat zone. For their children to be eligible, they must be 25 years of age or younger and have been born prior to term of service or within nine months of service.
  23. Illinois National Guard (ING) Grant Program
  24. This scholarship is for enlistees or company grade officers, up to the rank of captain, in the Illinois National Guard who are pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at an Illinois public college or university that is approved by the ISAC. To be eligible, applicants must have served at least one year in active duty or must currently be on active duty status. The scholarship covers tuition and other fees and may be used for up to eight semesters.
  25. Indiana National Guard Supplemental Grant
  26. This scholarship is for active Indiana Air and Army National Guard members who are pursuing an undergraduate degree full-time at Ball State University, Indiana State University, Indiana University, Ivy Tech State College, Purdue University, University of Southern Indiana, or Vincennes University. To be eligible, applicants must have been residents of Indiana since December 31st of the previous year. The award amount is not specified.
  27. Iowa National Guard Educational Assistance Grants
  28. This $1,000 scholarship is for National Guard members pursuing an undergraduate degree at an eligible state university or college in Iowa. To be eligible, applicants must be residents of Iowa.
  29. James J. Lennon Memorial Scholarship
  30. This $1,000 scholarship is for Armed Forces members, past or present, and their children and grandchildren who are pursuing an undergraduate degree at Park University. To be eligible, applicants must be majoring in economics or business administration and must have a 3.0 minimum GPA.
  31. Jodi Callahan Scholarship
  32. This $1,000 scholarship is for Air Force active duty, full time Guards or Reserve officers or enlisted who are pursuing a master's degree in a non-technical field of study at an accredited postsecondary institution. To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  33. Katherine Brown Scholarship
  34. This scholarship is for active military members and their dependents who are pursuing an undergraduate degree at the University of Southern Mississippi. Applicants will be judged on academic achievement and potential. The award amount is not specified.
  35. Kentucky National Guard Tuition Award
  36. This scholarship is for active Kentucky National Guard members who have completed basic training and are able to maintain all minimum standards. The award amount covers in-state tuition at any Kentucky state-supported institution.
  37. Lieutenant Colonel Joseph & Pauline Bonfiglio Memorial Endowed Scholarship
  38. This scholarship is for active and past members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their children who are pursuing an undergraduate degree full time at Ashland University. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens with a minimum 2.5 GPA and must be able to demonstrate academic promise and financial need. The award amount is not specified.
  39. LTG Douglas D. Buchholz Memrial Scholarship
  40. This $2,000 scholarship is for an active enlisted Fort Gordon, Georgia soldier who is enrolled at an accredited U.S. college or university. To be eligible, the applicant must be assigned to Fort Gordon and have completed a minimum of 15 semester hours with a minimum 2.5 GPA. The recipient will be selected based on the recommendation of a scholarship board under the guidance of the Fort Gordon Command Sergeant Major.
  41. Maria C. Jackson-General George A. White Scholarships
  42. This scholarship is for past and present U.S. Armed Forces members and their children who are enrolled in a postsecondary school in Oregon. To be eligible, applicants must be Oregon residents, and service members must have resided in Oregon at the time of enlistment. The applicant must also have a minimum 3.75 CGPA in high school or college. The award amount is not specified.
  43. AAAA Scholarship
  44. These $4,000 scholarships are for Army Aviation Association of America, Inc. members and their spouses, unmarried siblings, unmarried children and unmarried grandchildren, who are pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree. To be eligible, members of the AAAA must have at least a one-year membership by the time of application. Certain awards are only for enlisted, warrant officer, company grade, and Department of the Army Civilian members.
  45. Active Duty Military Scholarship
  46. This scholarship is for an active duty service member, or a family member, of the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Navy, Marines, or Drilling National Guard/Reserve enrolled in Globe University/Minnesota School of Business. The scholarship makes up the difference between the standard tuition rate of the above-mentioned schools and $250.
  47. AFA/Grantham University Online Degree Scholarship
  48. One full four-year scholarship, worth $28,000, will be awarded to an active duty dependent, an AFA member, or a dependent of an AFA member attending Grantham University. Recipients will study criminal justice, general studies, homeland security, computer science, engineering management, information systems, software engineering technology, computer engineering technology, electronics engineering technology, or interdisciplinary programs.
  49. AFCEA General Emmett Paige Scholarship
  50. These $2,000 scholarships are for active duty or veteran members of the Armed Forces, or their spouses or dependents, who are currently enrolled full time in an eligible degree program at an accredited four-year college or university in the U.S. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be majoring in electrical, chemical, systems or aerospace engineering, mathematics, physics, science or mathematics education, technology management, management information systems, computer science, those supporting U.S. intelligence enterprises or national security with relevance to the mission of AFCEA, or in other C4I-related fields.
  51. AMVETS Scholarship
  52. This scholarship, worth $1,000 per semester, is open to veterans of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, the Air National Guard, the Army National Guard, and their immediate family members. To be eligible, applicants must not be receiving 100% tuition reimbursement, must not be employees or family members of an AMVETS National Headquarters or DeVry University employee, and must be able to demonstrate financial need.
  53. Andrew J. Zabierek Memorial Scholarship
  54. This $1500 scholarship is for Massachusetts residents who have received an honorable discharge and are pursuing a post-secondary or technical degree.
  55. Andy Borg - VFW Scholarship
  56. This scholarship is for veterans or Air Force ROTC members who are attending the University of Wisconsin. The award amount is not specified.
  57. Armed Forces Scholarship
  58. This scholarship is for those who have served in active duty or reserve/guard status in the U.S. military and are attending the William Mitchell College of Law. The award amount is not specified.
  59. Bellevue University Purple Heart Scholarship
  60. Five $1000 scholarships are available each year to any active, retired, or honorably separated Armed Forces service member who received a Purple Heart Medal for wounds suffered during any conflict, and who are attending Bellevue University. The award amount is not specified.
  61. Blewitt Endowed Military Scholarship
  62. This scholarship is for active-duty single parents, service members who are wounded as a result of their service in the global war on terror, their spouse’s minor children, and/or their step-children. To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, have completed 15 undergraduate credits at the University of Maryland University College, and be able to demonstrate financial need. The award amount is not specified. Preference is given to enlisted personnel over officers.
  63. Disabled War Veterans Scholarships
  64. These $2,500 scholarships are offered to active-duty service personnel, honorably discharged U.S. Armed Forces veterans, reservists, and National Guard personnel who are disabled as a result of their service in Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan or Iraqi Freedom Operations. To be eligible, applicants must be attending either a two-year or four-year accredited college or university in the United States. Applicants must be majoring in the electrical, aerospace, systems or computer engineering, computer engineering technology, computer network systems, information systems security, computer information systems, information systems management, technology management, electronics engineering technology, computer science, physics, mathematics, science or mathematics education fields, in fields related to the support of U.S. Intelligence or national security enterprises with application to the mission of AFCEA, and other related C4I fields.
  65. Dr. Aurelio M. Caccomo Family Foundation Memorial Scholarship
  66. This $3,000 scholarship is for veterans, National Guard, or Reserves members who are pursuing an undergraduate degree at an accredited postsecondary institution. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens who can demonstrate financial need. The application requires a FAFSA to be submitted.
  67. Fund for Veterans' Education
  68. This scholarship is for veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom who have been deployed for at least 60 days. To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited institution and have applied for and accepted other need-based grants and available military educational benefits. The award amount is not specified.
  69. Hodson Trust Star Scholarship - Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans
  70. This scholarship is for Maryland residents who are veterans of the Iraq or Afghanistan conflict and can provide proof of 60 days of deployment after 9/11 in one of these regions. Recipients will be attending Hood College, Johns Hopkins University, St. John's College Annapolis campus, and Washington College. The award will cover tuition, room, books, and mandatory student fees.
  71. HSBC-North America Military Family Scholarship
  72. This scholarship is for active-duty or spouses of active-duty soldiers who are attending the University of Maryland University College. To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and must be able demonstrate financial need. The award amount is not specified.
  73. Imagine America LDRSHIP Award
  74. This $5,000 scholarship is for active-duty, reservist, honorably discharged, and retired military members of the U.S. Armed Forces. To be eligible, applicants must be attending an Imagine America or Career College Association school, have a minimum 3.5 GPA, and have a 95% attendance record. The application process involves submitting a letter of recommendation from an administrator or faculty member of their college.
  75. Imagine America Military Award Program (MAP)
  76. This $1,000 scholarship is for active duty, reservist, honorably discharged or retired members of the U.S. Armed Forces who are attending a participating career college.
  77. Lt. General H.G. "Pete" Taylor Endowed Scholarship
  78. This scholarship is for members, retirees, or dependents of the U.S. Armed Forces who are pursuing an undergraduate degree at Tarleton State University. To be eligible, applicants must be majoring in education or education administration or must be pursuing a school counselor certification. The award amount is not specified.
  79. LTG Douglas D. Buchholz Memorial Scholarship
  80. This $2,000 scholarship is for active enlisted soldiers assigned to Fort Gordon, Georgia. To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled at an accredited U.S. college, have completed a minimum of 15 semester hours, and have a 2.5 minimum GPA. Only those majoring in electrical, chemical, systems or aerospace engineering, mathematics, physics, science or mathematics education, computer science, or related fields may apply.
  81. Marine Corps Sgt Jeannette L. Winters Memorial Scholarship
  82. This $2,000 scholarship is for those in the U.S. Marine Corps who are majoring in electrical, chemical, systems or aerospace engineering, electronics, mathematics, physics, science or mathematics education, technology management, management information systems, computer science, majors related to the support of U.S. Intelligence or national security relating to the mission of AFCEA, or other related fields. To be eligible, the applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  83. Military Student Support Fund Scholarship
  84. This scholarship is for active-duty military service members attending the University of Maryland University College. Undergraduate applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, and graduate applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. To be eligible, applicants should be able to demonstrate financial need. The award amount is not specified.
  85. Overseas Spouse Education Assistance Program
  86. Spouses of active duty soldiers, who live with the soldier at their assigned command, are eligible to apply for this $2,500 scholarship. Applicants must be starting their undergraduate degrees for the first time to qualify for this award.
  87. Pitsenbarger Award
  88. This $400 award is for top USAF enlisted personnel graduating from the Community College of the Air Force who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree. Applicants must submit a narrative statement relating their extracurricular activities and explaining their significance.
  89. Stateside Spouse Education Assistance Program
  90. To qualify for this scholarship, the applicant must be married to or a widow of an active-duty soldier, or married to or a widow of a retired active-duty soldier. Recipients of this award will be residing in the U.S. and will be enrolled or accepted into an institution approved by the Department of Education. The award amount is not specified.
  91. The Captain Jodi Callahan Memorial Scholarship
  92. This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to active-duty Air Force, full-time Air National Guard, or full-time Air Force Reserve officers or enlisted, who are pursuing a master’s degree in a non-technical field of study. To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. The application process entails submitting a letter of recommendation from their Air Force supervisor or commander as well as an essay.
  93. The Colonel Richard A Christie Memorial Fund
  94. This scholarship, worth $3,000 ($250 awarded per month), is given to a former enlisted marine leaving the Marine Corps to attend a four-year institution. This award honors a marine who has demonstrated extraordinary courage and integrity in the face of major obstacles.
  95. University of Phoenix AMVETS Scholarship
  96. These $4,000 scholarships are for active duty and veteran members of the Armed Forces and their families who are attending the University of Phoenix. The scholarship award will be applied as a non-cash credit to the recipients’ University of Phoenix account.
  97. University of Phoenix Asia/Pacific Military Scholarship Program
  98. These $4,000 scholarships are for those currently serving in the Asia/Pacific region in the Armed Forces. To be eligible, applicants must be pursuing a master’s degree in business administration or education at a University of Phoenix on-ground campus in the Asia/Pacific region.
  99. Veterans of Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and Iraqi Freedom Scholarship
  100. These $2,500 scholarships are awarded to active-duty and honorably discharged U.S. military veterans of the Enduring Freedom or Iraqi Freedom operations who are currently pursuing an undergraduate degree at accredited institutions in the United States. To be eligible, applicants must be majoring in electrical, aerospace, systems or computer engineering, computer engineering technology, computer network systems, information systems security, computer information systems, information systems management, technology management, electronics engineering technology, computer science, physics, mathematics, science or mathematics education, fields related to the support of U.S. Intelligence or national security with relevance to the mission of AFCEA, and other C4I-related fields.
