Scholarships

  1. Laid-Off Worker Scholarship
  2. This $3,000 scholarship is for residents of Washington state who are pursuing a master’s degree at City University in Seattle. To be eligible, applicants must have been laid off within 180 days of their scholarship application.
  3. The Delta Gamma Foundation Florence Margaret Harvey Memorial Scholarship
  4. This $1,000 scholarship is for visually impaired students who are pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in the field of rehabilitation or education of people who are blind or visually impaired.
  5. Karen D. Carsel Memorial Scholarship
  6. This $500 scholarship is for full-time graduate students who are visually impaired. To be eligible, students must demonstrate economic need.
  7. The Truman Scholarship
  8. This scholarship, worth up to $30,000, is for college juniors who are interested in pursuing a graduate degree in a field relating to public service. As a condition of the award, recipients must work in public service for three of the seven years following completion of their graduate degree.
  9. SMART Scholarship
  10. This full scholarship is for students majoring in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields who are pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree. To be eligible, applicants must be at least 18 years old by August 1, 2010, must be U.S. citizens, must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. Applicants must also be able to participate in summer internships at DoD laboratories and must be willing to accept employment with the DoD after graduation.
  11. Ethnic Minority and Women's Enhancement Postgraduate Scholarship for Careers in Athletics
  12. This $6,000 scholarship is for those seeking admission or accepted into a sports administration or other related graduate program in order to pursue a career in intercollegiate athletics. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens and must be female or a member of an ethnic minority. Only those who are beginning their first year of postgraduate study are eligible. Recipients must have performed with distinction as a student body member at their undergraduate institution.
  13. Walter Byers Postgraduate Scholarship Program
  14. This scholarship, worth $24,000 per year, is for graduating seniors and graduate school enrollees who have competed in intercollegiate athletics on a varsity team at an NCAA member institution. To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5. Recipients will be enrolled into a graduate degree program within five years of receiving the award, and will be pursuing a graduate degree full time at an accredited nonprofit institution or a post baccalaureate professional degree program at an accredited law school or medical school.
  15. NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Program
  16. This $7,500 scholarship is for varsity athletes at an active NCAA member institution who are in their final season of NCAA athletics eligibility. To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 and must have performed with distinction as a member of their varsity team. Recipients will be pursuing a graduate degree at an accredited professional school.
  17. USDA's Public Service Leaders Scholarship Program
  18. This full-tuition scholarship is for undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in working in public service with the USDA. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens or have attained such within one year of acceptance, have a minimum GPA or 2.75, and be willing to relocate. Recipients will attend a mandatory orientation in Washington, D.C. The scholarship also provides paid internships which will lead to permanent employment with the USDA.
  19. Beinecke Scholarship
  20. This scholarship is for college juniors who will be majoring in the arts, humanities or social sciences in a graduate degree program. Recipients receive $4,000 before beginning graduate school, and $30,000 during their course of study.
  21. The Gates Cambridge Trust Scholarship
  22. These full-tuition scholarships are for students residing outside the UK to pursue graduate study and research at Cambridge University. To be eligible, students must be participating in research for a PhD degree, a one-year post-graduate course, a two-year MSc degree, or an MBBChir Clinical Studies.
  23. Nursing Economic$ Foundation Scholarships
  24. These $5,000 scholarships are for registered nurses pursuing a master’s or doctorate degree in a nursing program, specializing in administration or management. Those who are members of the Nursing Economic$ Foundation Board of Trustees, Nursing Economic$ Editorial Board, employees of the Nursing Economic$ Foundation, employees of Anthony J. Jannetti, Inc., and any family members, are ineligible.
  25. NAJA Graduate Scholarship Program
  26. This scholarship, worth approximately $1,876, is for graduate students pursuing a degree in counseling, psychology, mental health, special education, speech pathology, exceptional children, remedial skills development, hearing impaired, gifted and talented, and other fields relating to children’s special needs. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens who are residents of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee, or Texas.
  27. Casey Graduate Scholarship
  28. This $10,000 scholarship is for graduate students who were in the foster care system. To be eligible, applicants must be 30 years old or younger and must be enrolled or about to enroll full-time at an institution or university.
  29. Scholarships for Latino Graduate Students
  30. This scholarship, worth $250 to $1,000, is for Hispanic graduate students who are pursuing a master of arts, master of science, master of public administration/policy, master of social work, master of education, and master of divinity at an accredited four-year college or university. To be eligible, applicants must reside in the U.S., must have completed at least one full-time semester, and must currently be enrolled in one of the above degree programs.
  31. The Tylenol Scholarship
  32. This scholarship, worth $1,000 to $5,000, is for graduate students looking to be employed in healthcare. Applicants will be judged on their leadership qualities and academic performance.
  33. Doctoral Scholars Program Award
  34. This scholarship is for racial or ethnic minorities who are currently enrolled in the first year of their Ph.D. program or are expecting admission before the academic year begins. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents, must intend to work as college or university faculty members after they obtain their Ph.D., and cannot be employed outside of their department/discipline. The scholarship covers up to five years of tuition and fees as well as an annual stipend of $15,000 to $20,000.
  35. SLA Scholarship Program
  36. This $6,000 scholarship is for college seniors and graduates who plan to pursue a master’s degree in librarianship at a qualifying school of library or information science. To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate financial need. Preference is given to members of the Special Libraries Association and to persons who have worked for special libraries.
  37. J.E. Caldwell Centennial Scholarship
  38. This $2,000 scholarship is for graduate students majoring in the field of historic preservation at an accredited U.S. college or university. To be eligible, applicants must be citizens of the U.S. and must obtain a letter of sponsorship from their local Daughters of the Revolution chapter. Applicants will be judged on academic excellence, commitment to the field of study, and financial need.
  39. CHCI Scholarship Awards for Graduate Students
  40. This $5,000 scholarship is for Latinos who have experience with public service in their communities. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents who can demonstrate financial need.
  41. Siemens Clinical Advancement Scholarship Program
  42. This $5,000 scholarship is for those pursuing a master’s or bachelor’s degree in radiologic sciences, CT/MRI, or sonography, or a certificate program in radiation therapy or dosimetry.

  46. This $7,500 scholarship is for college seniors pursuing, and graduates who possess, an undergraduate degree in construction management or construction-related engineering. To be eligible, applicants must plan to pursue a graduate degree full time in construction management or construction-related engineering.

  48. This $1,500 scholarship is for students pursuing a Masters or Ph.D. in the field of metal finishing. Recipients will be selected based on academic history, extracurricular activities, employment history, an applicant's motivations and interests, and research projects.
  49. Dorothy Harris Endowed Scholarship
  50. This $1,500 scholarship is for female graduate students majoring in physical education, sport management, sport psychology, or sport sociology at an accredited postgraduate institution. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents and must be enrolled in the degree program in the academic year after the application deadline.

Fellowships

  1. Jack E. Leisch Memorial National Graduate Fellowship
  2. This $3,500 fellowship is for members of the American Society for Civil Engineers in good standing. To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled or plan to be enrolled full time in a transportation/traffic engineering graduate degree program in Civil Engineering at an university deemed appropriate by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Applicants will be judged on the applicant's justification, educational plan, academic performance and standing, potential for development, leadership capacity, and financial need.
  3. Fellowships for Minority Doctoral Students
  4. This fellowship, worth up to $12,000, is for Black, Native American, Pacific Islander, and Hispanic applicants who have applied to or have been accepted into an accounting doctoral program. To be eligible, applicants must have earned a masters degree in accounting or must have at least three years of full-time experience in accounting. Applicants must also attend school full-time and must be U.S. citizens.
  5. Ford Diversity Predoctoral Fellowships
  6. This fellowship, worth $20,000 per year, is for those pursuing and those who intend to pursue a research-based Ph.D. or Sc.D. degree at a U.S. educational institution. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals who can provide evidence of superior academic achievement. Those who have already earned a doctoral degree are ineligible. Preference is given to Alaska Natives, African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, and Pacific Islanders. Recipients will be committed to a career in teaching and research at the college or university level.
  7. NCOVR Pre-Doctoral Fellowship Program
  8. This fellowship, worth up to $35,000, is for those participating in a full-time program of study and research under the guidance of National Consortium on Violence Research mentors. To be eligible, applicants must have earned a degree by June 1st of the award year. Recipients will relocate to their primary mentor’s institution and participate in an ongoing NCOVR-funded research project.
  9. AFCEA Fellowship
  10. This fellowship, worth $15,000, is for master’s degree holders who are pursuing a doctorate degree in the electrical, electronics, chemical, systems or communications engineering, physics, mathematics, and computer science fields, and fields related to the support of U.S. intelligence enterprises with relevance to the mission of AFCEA. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens attending school full time.
  11. The Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship
  12. This fellowship is for students pursuing a master’s degree in public policy, international affairs, public administration, business, economics, political science, sociology, and foreign languages. Recipients will have an interest in pursuing a foreign service career with the U.S. Department of State. The award contributes up to $50,000 per year towards tuition, fees, books, some travel, and includes a living stipend.
  13. Doris Duke Conservation Fellowship
  14. This fellowship is for students who are pursuing a multidisciplinary master’s degree in an environmental program at Yale, Duke, Cornell, Florida A&M University, Northern Arizona University and the universities of Michigan, Wisconsin, and California at Santa Barbara. To be eligible, applicants must be intending to work as practicing conservationists.
  15. The Charlotte W. Newcombe Doctoral Dissertation Fellowships
  16. This fellowship, worth $25,000, is for students pursuing Ph.D. or Th.D. degrees who are at the writing stage of their dissertations. To be eligible, applicants must be able to fulfill all pre-dissertation requirements and must be writing on topics where ethical or religious values are a central concern. Those who have held a national award for their final year of dissertation writing are ineligible.
  17. The Language Flagship
  18. This fellowship is for students pursuing a master’s degree who want to participate in one of the Flagship Programs in Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, or Persian. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens who have earned an undergraduate degree before the award disbursement. Applicants must have a minimum proficiency of Advanced Low (as defined by ACTFL) or level 2 (as defined by ILR) in the corresponding language, and have a minimum proficiency of Superior (as defined by ACTFL) or level 3 (as defined by ILR) in all English modalities. Those employed by the government are in eligible. The fellowship provides tuition, a living stipend, travel costs, and health insurance.
  19. The Woodrow Wilson Indiana Teaching Fellowship
  20. This fellowship is for college graduates with degrees in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The Fellowship provides a $30,000 stipend and admission into a master’s degree program at a participating Indiana university. Recipients will teach for a minimum of three years in an urban or rural school district.
  21. Woodrow Wilson-Rockefeller Brothers Fund Fellowships for Aspiring Teachers of Color
  22. This fellowship is for college seniors of color at a participating college or university. The fellowship provides a $30,000 allowance for their master’s degree. Recipients will teach for a minimum of three years in an urban or rural school district.
  23. Jack E. Leisch Memorial National Graduate Fellowship
  24. This fellowship is for graduate students, professors, and practicing engineers and earth scientists who wish to explore new applications of geotechnical engineering and earth sciences to social, economic, environmental and political issues. Applications will be judged on technical and social value of the proposed research, ability of the research to advance engineering and to enhance the welfare of mankind, relevant professional experience of the applicant, and applicant’s prior contribution to the engineering profession and/or the applied earth sciences. The stipend will be awarded based on funds available.
  25. AIGC Fellowship
  26. This fellowship, worth $1,000 to $5,000, is for American Indian and Alaska Native students pursuing a graduate or professional degree full time at an accredited U.S. institution. To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled as a member of a recognized American Indian or Alaska Native group or provide documentation of one-fourth degree of Indian blood, and be able to demonstrate financial need.
  27. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. Fellowship
  28. This fellowship, worth $5,000, is for American Indians and Alaska Natives pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree full-time at an accredited U.S. graduate school. To be eligible, applicants must be an enrolled member of a recognized American Indian or Alaska Native group, or possess one-fourth degree Indian blood, and be able to demonstrate financial need. Preference is given to those majoring in the fields of logistics, operations management, marketing, or information technology.
  29. Research Training Fellowships for Medical Students
  30. This fellowship is for applicants enrolled in a U.S. medical, dental, or veterinary school. To be eligible, applicants must engage in a year of full-time biomedical research training at any academic or nonprofit institution in the United States, excluding the National Institutes of Health. The fellowship provides an annual stipend of $27,000, an annual fellow's allowance of $5,500, and an annual research allowance of $5,500.
  31. Eileen Blackey Doctoral Fellowship
  32. This $2,000 fellowship is for students pursuing a doctorate in social work whose dissertation focuses on welfare policy and practice. To be eligible, applicants must belong to the National Association of Social Workers. Preference is given to dissertations with a diversity component.
  33. Jane B. Aron Doctoral Fellowship
  34. This fellowship, worth up to $4,000, is for students pursuing a doctorate in social work whose dissertation focuses on health policy and practice. To be eligible, students must belong to the NASW. Preference is given to dissertations that include a diversity component.
  35. Distinguished Doctoral Fellowships and Doctoral Academy Fellowships
  36. These full-tuition fellowships are for doctorate students engaging in biological engineering research at the University of Arkansas. To be eligible for the Distinguished Doctoral Fellowship, applicants must have a master's GPA of 3.85 or B.S. GPA of at least 3.65, a GRE verbal plus quantitative score of at least 1300, and a GRE writing score of at least 5.5. To be eligible for the Doctoral Academy Fellowship, applicants must have a master's GPA of 3.65 or B.S. GPA of at least 3.5, a GRE verbal plus quantitative score of at least 1200, and a GRE writing score of at least 5.0. Distinguished Doctoral Fellows receive a stipend of $30,000 per year plus, and Doctoral Academy Fellows receive a stipend of $18,700 per year.
  37. International Fellowships
  38. These fellowships are for women who are engaged in full-time study or research in the United States as graduate or postgraduate students at accredited institutions. To be eligible, applicants must not be U.S. citizens or residents and must plan to work in her home country after graduation. Master's fellowship recipients receive $18,000, doctorate fellowship recipients receive $20,000, and postdoctoral recipients receive $30,000.
  39. Selected Professions Fellowships
  40. This fellowship, worth $5,000 to $18,000, is for women who are pursuing a master’s in architecture, computer/information sciences, engineering, or mathematics/statistics full time at an accredited institution. Those pursuing an MBA, J.D., M.D., or D.O. must be women of color. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  41. American Meteorological Society Graduate Fellowship in the History of Science
  42. This fellowship, worth $15,000, is for graduate students writing a dissertation on the history of the atmospheric, or related oceanic or hydrologic sciences. To be eligible, applicants must be in good standing with their school.
  43. National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowships
  44. This full-tuition fellowship is for students pursuing a doctorate degree in the fields of aeronautical and astronautical engineering, biosciences, chemical engineering, chemistry, civil engineering, cognitive, neural, and behavioral sciences, computer and computational sciences, electrical engineering, geosciences, materials science and engineering, mathematics, mechanical engineering, naval architecture and ocean engineering, oceanography, and physics. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens and must be college seniors or graduate students who have not completed more than 30 semester hours. This three-year award also covers fees and a stipend between $30,500 and $31,500.
  45. MS Engineering Fellowship Program
  46. This full-tuition fellowship is for American Indian/Natives, African Americans, and Hispanic American/Latinos who are pursuing doctoral degrees in chemistry, physics, earth sciences, mathematics, biological sciences, and computer science. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, must be college seniors, master’s students, or graduates of an accredited engineering or applied science program, must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, and must contractually agree to intern with a GEM Employer member at least once early on or before the start of the Ph.D. program. In the first year of the program, recipients receive a $14,000 stipend. Recipients will also participate in at least one paid summer internship with a GEM Employer Member.
  47. ASM Robert D. Watkins Graduate Research Fellowship
  48. This fellowship is for African-Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, Alaskan Natives, and Pacific Islanders who are pursuing a doctorate degree in the microbiological science field at an accredited U.S. institution. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens or a permanent residents who have completed the first year of their graduate program, must have completed all graduate coursework requirements for the doctoral degree by the date of the fellowship start date, must be student members of the American Society for Microbiology, and must be mentored by an ASM member. Recipients receive $21,000 a year for three years.
  49. Minority Masters Fellows Program
  50. This fellowship, worth up to $7,500, is for African-American, Asian-American, Native-American, and Hispanic recipients of the Minority Teacher's Scholarship. To be eligible, applicants must be entering a master's program full time or must be in the last year of a five-year teacher licensure program. To be eligible, applicants must be Arkansas residents who have a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA. Recipients will teach full-time in an Arkansas public school or public institution of higher education for at least two years.

  2. This grant, worth up to $5,000, is for part participants of the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Program. To be eligible, applicants must be pursuing a Ph.D. in a field recognized under the terms of the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Program.
  3. Graduate Student Research Grants
  4. This grant is for graduate students who are conducting research for projects that support and improve the effective use of people, material, processes, equipment, and time in manufacturing and service industries. The award amount is not specified.
  5. AP-LS Grants-in-Aid for Graduate Students
  6. These grants, worth up to $750, is for graduate students conduction empirical research relating to psycho-legal issues. To be eligible, applicants must be student affiliate members of the American Psychology-Law Society.
  7. National Association of Broadcasters Grants for Research in Broadcasting
  8. This grant, worth $4,000 to $6,000, is for senior undergraduates, graduate students, and academic personnel participating in research on economic, business, social, and policy issues important to station managers and other decision-makers in the U.S. commercial broadcast industry. Selection will be based on problem conceptualization, research technique, contribution to the field, clarity and thoroughness, and budget.
  9. Woodrow Wilson Dissertation Grants in Women's Studies
  10. This grant, worth up to $3,000, is for doctorate students who have completed all pre-dissertation requirements in any field at a U.S. graduate school. Selection is based on originality and significance to women's studies, scholarly validity, the applicant's academic preparation and ability to accomplish the work, and whether the dissertation will be completed within a reasonable time period.
  11. Career Development Grants
  12. These grants, worth between $2,000 and $12,000, are for students pursuing a post-baccalaureate degree at a regionally accredited two- or four-year institution, technical institution, or distance learning program. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents who have earned a bachelor’s degree on or before June 30, 2002. Preference is given to women of color, and women pursuing their first advanced degree or credentials in nontraditional fields.
  13. Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Dissertation Grant
  14. This $20,000 grant is for past participants of the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship (MMUF) Program. This grant enables graduate students to spend a year to complete their dissertation.
  15. Lewis and Clark Fund for Exploration and Field Research in Astrobiology
  16. This grant, worth several hundred to $5,000, is for graduate and post-doctoral students as well as junior scientists who plan to participate in field studies in astrobiology and similar fields. To be eligible, applicants must be affiliated with a U.S.-based institution.
  17. ACS Petroleum Research Fund

  24. This grant, worth up to $10,000, is for graduate students of accredited colleges and universities who are participating in projects that address sustainable agriculture issues that are part of their degree program.
  25. AIP Center for History of Physics Grants
  26. These grants, worth up to $2,500, are for graduate students majoring in the history of science who are participating in research in the history of modern physics and allied sciences and their social interactions. Funds will be issued as reimbursement for expenses incurred by travel and subsistence to use the resources of the Center's Niels Bohr Library in College Park, Maryland, or expenses including travel and subsistence to tape-record oral history interviews or microfilm archival materials.
  27. Geological Society of America Grants for Graduate Students

  30. These grants are for Harvard graduate students enrolled in the 2010 to 2011 academic year whose master's or doctoral theses involve research or field work in South Asia.   32. These grants, worth up to $2,500, are for graduate and post-doctoral students who plan to use the collections of the Harry S. Truman Library for one to three weeks. Preference is given to projects that are related to enduring public policy and foreign policy issues and that have a high probability of being published or publicly disseminated.
  33. FORE Dissertation Assistance Award
  34. This grant, worth up to $15,000, is for graduate and postgraduate students participating in research which supports FORE's current research priorities as part of their thesis or dissertation requirement. To be eligible, the applicant must have completed all course work up to dissertation and must be member of AHIMA. Applicants must also be U.S. or Canadian citizens or are enrolled or plan to enroll at an institution or university.
  35. Joseph A. Cushman Award for Student Research
  36. This grant, worth up to $2,000, is for master’s and doctoral students who are participating in research projects dealing with the systematics, biostratigraphy, paleoecology, and ecology of fossil or living foraminifera. Selection will be based on scientific merit and financial need.
  37. William V. Sliter Research Award
  38. This grant, worth up to $2,000, is for graduate students participating in research on Mesozoic and Cenozoic foraminifera. Selection will be based on scientific merit and financial need.

Applicants’ manuscripts must have been published, or been accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal less than two years before nomination.
  45. BMES Student Awards
  46. This grant is for graduate students who have submitted outstanding biomedical engineering research and/or design projects. Recipients receive a certificate, a stipend of $600, registration for the Biomedical Engineering Society Annual Fall Meeting, and up to $400 for travel expenses.
  47. Summer Student Research Program at the National Center for Toxicological Research
  48. This grant is for graduate students who wish to conduct research on the biological effects of toxic chemicals and the solutions to toxicology problems that have a major impact on human health and the environment. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens who have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and are in good standing with their university. The award amount is based on educational level.
  49. Department of Energy Special Emphasis Program
  50. This grant is for undergraduate and graduate students who wish to engage in ongoing research and other related activities at the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science. Only U.S. citizens are eligible. Recipients will receive a weekly stipend of $500 to $550 and minimal travel reimbursement.
