You name it, you've got it! Just keep in mind, this is an industry that many people are trying to crack into so there's some tough competition for any position. The field of film and television has a quandary of different positions within it. There are the actors, writers, filmographers and producers who work hands-on to create the television shows and movies that entertain you. But, there are so many others involved in the process of film and television though. There are people needed to work on the set, people needed to design costumes, people needed to design computer animated special effects, people who write and compose the music heard in film and television, and so many more. Even down to the on-set tutors that teach the child actors, if you want to work in film and television there's most likely a position in which you are qualified to work.

The field of film and television is slightly different from others in that there is not one typical career path. Formal training can be a great asset to workers in film making and television production, but experience, talent, creativity, and professionalism usually are the most important factors in getting a job. Most professionals in this field get started doing smaller pieces like documentary films, commercials or industrial films. If you want to be an actor, practice in any sort of performance skill, such as singing, dancing, improv, and public speaking can help. Directors and producers usually begin on their own small projects and learn through experience and schooling. If film and television management is of interest, usually a 2 year degree and a few years of experience in the industry can open doors. Screen writers usually have at least a bachelor's degree, but it's not necessarily required. Cinematographers and sound engineers also can learn on the job, but there are specific technical schools that can help orient talented individuals with the technology used in the field.

There are so many different positions in this field, it's hard to pin point an average. Film and television professionals could make as little as $20,000 a year, or as much as a movie star. Just keep in mind, only a lucky few get to go to work and make twenty million dollars a project.
