Is certification offered for this course and how long would it take to obtain? Also, how long to obtain an associated degree in this course?
Submitted on: April 30, 2012

Certification as a radiologic technician is granted through an accrediting body such as ARRT, the American Registry of Radiologic Technicians. Every state has its own rules regarding the certification of RTs. The certification exam is most often studied for, and passed, only after earning an associate's degree in the field. These programs usually take two years, although you may be able to find a more accelerated program. It is not advisable to take this degree online, since nearly all of what an RT needs to know involves working with radiographing technology and patients, and is best learned hands-on in a clinical setting. See if your local community or polytechnical college has an RT program.
