Overview
The Court Reporting Institute of Houston (CRIH) opened in 2002 as a branch of the main Dallas facility. This school is situated along Highway 290 and offers an education that covers the fundamentals of court reporting. Accreditations for the Houston branch include an approval by the National Court Reporters Association and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Students can receive an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Court Reporting.
Student Appeal
Since court reporting is the only program offered at CRIH, students share a common interest in their education. The Houston branch provides its court reporting program only onsite rather than online, but students wishing to do distance learning can enroll in the online program through the Dallas main branch. Onsite admissions coordinators in the Houston branch help students determine the best way to complete their program as well as getting them admitted to the school. Students do not need college credit to be admitted to CRIH, but they do need a high school diploma or a GED in order to apply.
Financial
At CRIH, the Financial Aid Staff helps students find ways to finance their tuition with a variety of methods. Federal aid is available, but the school also participates in private scholarships, grants and other programs to help students pay for their education. Other possibilities include employer reimbursement programs, private education funding programs and federal loans. Entrance and exit counseling are mandatory for students receiving aid.
